Team Trilux - Falke

Wegmann on the podium in NZ

After his win on stage three, Wegmann tried to improve his position in the GC even further. Trilux again controlled the peloton, and eventually Wegmann made his move. Only Chris Froome could follow, GC leader Flügel had a bad day.

Wegmann attacks

Unfortunately, the two riders could not bridge the gap to the breakway which meant that Wegmann got no bonus seconds. He gained 13 seconds but stayed 3rd, while Flügel had only 7 seconds advantage about Froome.

On stage five, Wegmann wasn´t able to surprise the sprinters once more, finishing 17th.

Nonetheless, Trilux was very successful, with five riders in the Top 20, two leader´s jerseys (Wegmann/points, Fahnert/young rider) and the 2nd place in the teams classification.
These results move Trilux to 11th in the Continental team ranking.

Tour Meditteraneen

Only a few days have passed, and Trilux starts in France. Team leader Kessler aims the Top 10 and has a strong support team.

On stage one, the allrounder Smukulis secured a very good 3rd place in the sprint finish, the climber Sousa also showed a strong performance as 7th:

i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/Med%202012/med025.jpg

Stage two was hilly, and Trilux rider Schillenger was part of the breakaway.

i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/Med%202012/med030.jpg

Schillenger wins to KOM sprint

He obviously was the strongest in that group, and later tried a solo-move to secure the stage win.

i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/Med%202012/med035.jpg

Unfortunately, he had to pay for his efforts and lost much time in the final and was caught short before the finish line. Team leader Kessler also tried to get away in the final but was caught in the sprint, having no chance against the winner Biondo. He finished 8th on the day.

Schillenger KOM in France

On stage 4, only the two favourites Di Maggio and Ginanni gained some time over the peloton and Di Maggio took the GC-lead.
Once again, Schillenger was in the break and secured 8 important KOM-points.

Stage 5, the last one, ended on the hard Mt.Faron with decisive KOM sprints. As soon as a break went, the Trilux-duo Schillenger and Sousa was in.

i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/Med%202012/med102.jpg

All other riders who could win the KOM classification missed that move and a strong Schillenger earned enough points to take the provisional lead:

i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/Med%202012/med103.jpg

Kessler had a bad day, loosing almost 4 minutes to the winner Roy and thus dropped to 13th in the GC. Sousa, who was in the break, did well and managed to come in 13th the stage, which meant he secured tenth in the GC.
All in all, the Tour Meditteraneen was a success, although the leader Kessler has to show some better results in the upcoming races.

Turkey, Japan and Mergelland

Presidential Tour of Turkey

Great start for Kessler, who looses the GC to two escapees and ends ups 3rd in the GC and 1st in the points classification after winning stage 2:

While the Hel van het Mergelland was a disaster, Tom Criel took a 2nd place in stage 7 of the Tour of Japan:

Rund um den Eschborn-Frankfurt

Trilux dominated their home-race. Breakaways had no chance as the whole team worked for the leaders Wegmann and Kessler:

With 6 riders in the first group, Trilux entered the final sprint....

... and celebrated a 1-2 win with Wegmann and Kessler:

Haussler coming in as 5th as well as Eichler and Rast in the Top15 make this a perfect race with one of the best performances of any team so far.

Haussler continues to win

Haussler added two more wins to his palmares. Beating faster guys like Vantomme he took victories in stage 2 and 3 of the Post Danmark Rundt and secured the points classification.

This surprisingly good result secured important points in the close battle for a good results in the Continental Team Ranking.

Trilux and Falke to quit sponsorship, transfer rumours

According to team manager Felix_29, Trilux and Falke will quit after the season. "They both were satisfied with the results, but they were not satisfied with the media they got in Germany. So both companies decided to search for other ways to increase their popularity."
He also confirmed being in talks with several interested companies. "A deal with a big US-American company is almost signed. They have an international focus which gives us many possibilities concerning transfers and target races. Furthermore, we already have found a smaller German company as co-sponsor so we will try to keep the German stars Wegmann and Haussler."
Another source told that Kessler may have to leave the team: "If he doesn´t agree on a much lower salary, he will not be part of the squad in 2013."

More news will follow in the upcoming days.

New sponsors announced

The well-known manufacterer for bike components, Sram will be main sponsor of the team in 2013. They hope to improve their position in the European market, while the USA are the other main focus.
Sram is joined by the German biotech company Riboxx, thus the team will race with the name "Sram - Riboxx Cycling Team".
With Enve, Giro and Cannondale three further US-based companies will supply the squad and with Castelli an Italian firm is on board to provide clothing.

Close to the Sram headquarter, a cyclist was seen, probably wearing the new kit. The team manager didn´t confirm that, only saying that designer Laidbackmarc was still working on the last details.

Final kit for 2013 revealed

After some minor changes have been done, team manager Felix_29 and designer Laidbackmarc both were happy with the final outcome:

i1260.photobucket.com/albums/ii566/laidbackmarc/sram3.png

"The jersey can be spotted easily and has a unique design. Riders and managment couldn´t be happier with it."

I love that one. Have always been a fan of both laidbackmarc AND the SRAM/Tour of the Gila-frog Wink

Roman
Reports are saying that Milka's manager is very interested in Jan Barta for the 2013 season, as he clearly is one of his the most favourite riders. There are also rumours that Theo Reinhardt could be a part of that transfer.

Any comments from Sram - Riboxx manager?
Manager of Moser - Sygic

felix_29
I´m not interested in Reinhardt as his potential is too low, but money or another Mikla rider involved (and maybe money from my side) could make the transfer happen.

Smowz
Sram - Riboxx may have heard that Simply Red Bull have money to burn.

It goes without saying that we have long been admirers of veteran German punchaer Fabian Wegmann, but we would also be interested in acquiring the Latvian talents Aleksei Saramotins and Gatis Smukulis. Those two would recieve a very generous offer indeed as Smowz is known to enjoy the pleasures of Riga very much.

Whether Wegmann and the two Latvians Saramotins and Smukulis will be transferable or not will also depend on the wage they demand: the less they want, the more likely they´ll stay.

Minor sponsor change

As Valverde demanded more money from Cannondale to sign even more Japanese riders, the bike manufacterer asked Sram-Riboxx to find someone else to supply bikes. The small manufacterer Alchemy Bicyle Co. steps in and will provide tailor-made bikes for each rider.
