Unfortunate for Matthews but the young rider jersey is some consolation!

Thanks, CountArach! Yes, the white jersey is a nice addition to a brave ride All we hope for now, is to see Matthews wearing this jersey on final podium!
Looks good after Stage 3:

Thanks, roturn and CountArach! We will try our best.. and at least the TTT was not that bad:
Oz Cycling Project finishes 12th in Tour of Qatar's TTT
Oz Cycling Project made it's ProTour-debut in today's TTT in Qatar! Thanks to a last minute wildcard, that was given to the team, Oz's William Ford will have to chance to participate at the race, which he surprisingly won last year. The team's hopes are pinned on Baden Cooke though, as he may have the best chances to hit the Top-10 in a stage. We need some luck, that's for sure, but in Qatar's windy stages, everything seems possible! And the opening TTT went well for The Oz, finishing on 12th place, 19" behind winning team Café de Colombia!

Tour of Qatar: Ford keeps attacking, but no success for Oz
We're still in Qatar, watching Oz Cycling's ProTour-debut. The last two stages (4th and 5th) brought no more surprising results for our team, but at least William Ford, last year's winner in Qatar, proved his fighting skills and kept attacking on almost every stage so far! He had no success, but he tries all he can and team's manager T.S. Moha is glad to see Ford performing like that.. Baden Cooke couldn't repeat his strong 6th place of 3rd stage and so the best results for Oz Cycling were a 22nd for Ford in 5th and a 27th for Adrian Laidler in 4th stage.

Qatar/Wellington: Lewis takes Oz's first win ever in Wellington's 4th stage!
Lewis celebrates the team's first win ever!
What a week for Oz Cycling Project: we had no expectations in both Tour of Qatar and Tour of Wellington, but in the end, the latter was our most succesful race so far! The Tour of Wellington is one of our target-races, but we couldn't sign a rider, who would have been able to compete with the best here. So all we hoped for was a breakaway-success.. and here we go! Oz-riders had been in almost every breakaway in New Zealand and in 4th stage, a tricky hilly circuit, one of our most promising riders finally took a stage-win out of a break! Shaun Lewis, our best climber, but chanceless in Wellington's GC since 2nd stage, set a perfect attack out of the breakaway-group with 6km to go and could defend a small lead until finish. A great day for Oz Cycling, which has been crowned by one of our local-heroes, George Bennett, one day later: he finished 3rd in final stage thanks to a late attack. Overall winner of Wellington-Tour is the German Aleksandar Flügel: he attacked on 2nd and crucial stage up the Admira Hill and could defend his small lead. Congrats!
The crucial moment of this year's Wellington-Tour: Flügel's win in 2nd stage.
The Oz Cycling's ProTour-debut ended as it began: with a breakaway-try by Mark Jamieson. It was again empty-handed, but manager T.S. Moha emphasized that he is satisfied with the team's performance in Qatar. Our best results were the 12th place in opening TTT and a 6th place in mass-sprint for Baden Cooke in 3rd stage. Cooke was also Oz's best-placed in final GC as 45th.
One of many attacks by Oz's riders in the team's ProTour-debut!

A great result from Cooke, I guess he is proving worth the money you're paying him.

Thanks, CountArach! Well, with 60,000 of wage it's quite easy for Cooke to be "worth the money"
