Next year Santander should have a strong enough leader to ensure they control the break

What's the problem?
IRL it's not necessarily the strongest riders who win. No one would say that Gutierrez is the best Spanish rider, Terpstra is the best Dutch rider, Visconti is the best Italian rider etc.
I'm generally satisfied with the national champions so far.
The results have been fine so far.
The problem in some of the races has been how they've been achieved. The Spanish and Italian races were not at all great.
Only suggestion I can think of making is having an equal number of teams in the race with an equal number of riders. For eg 80 riders = 10 teams of 8. That would take away the problem of the AI letting a 'team leader' attack way out and the AI being too stupid to react to it. The escapees may still have a chance of making it and it would be a far more satisfying way to win. |

The problem with that is that you may end up with a rider, who would have been a team leader for his own team, being a helper for another team's rider. |

I think the NC are good how they are now. If you want the strongest rider from each country to win their respective NC why not just give them the jersey without any racing?
As CT said, IRL the NC are pretty unpredictable as well and it's not always a star getting the jersey.
Also, fenian, your idea to mix the riders isn't very good because it's not fair to teams that already have a strong line - up for a certain country and don't need other riders.

I hope people are enjoying these even if they are not getting the battles they wanted.
The Venezuelan one went I guess as expected, Rujano dominating both. Red Bull kinda screwed up the RR with Jose Chacon distanced too early and always playing catch up, but Franklin showed his fight by getting second in the TT.
Jose will surely retire at the end of the season - by the way what was the controversy with him a few years back?

Yes - there's probably no other way of doing the national champs than is done now.
Next season, I think I'll dispense with a team to support whoever I think my strongest rider is. See how that works out. |

That would actually work pretty well for the TT's. |

At least I had a rider in the break past my house. |

AAAAAAAAAHHH!!! EPICLY AMAZING!
First Welsh Champion (in theory) last season, and now finally full on British Champion. Great season by Luke Rowe, and brilliant that he'll be in the Pro Tour next season for me! If only I'd taken Italy as well! |

Did Luke actually wear that jersey last year?
Ooh and close in the TT. I should have offered up a very hilly course for my own good. |

No. It did just remind me that he never wore that jersey I made. Oh well. |

I assumed it wasn't possible - shame cos it looked great, and cos thus Dave could wear the Scottish TT jersey |

Stupid sprinters, and good TTer.
Re: Welsh champion. 2 years ago it was Matt Rowe, last year it was Dale Appleby, this year Luke Rowe. In theory its possible to have the national jerseys, just make a country specific one for the team, give it the British prefix, and set the rider as National Champ.

I'm hoping for a "small team" effect in the swedish championship ;-) Gogo Fredrik!

Congrats jack888 - I really should have read the previous years national championships before blindly putting my team together!
Not that it would have made much difference I suppose
I cannot recall seeing too much of McConnell this season!
