107% rule is Colin Kolles's biggest nightmare

Its possible to fail to qualify, but have the other teams let you back in - but Hispania are just too much of a road block right now

HRT actually asked for a possibility to take part in a race, but FIA denied their application. Other decision would be a proof of stupidity - creating 107% rule and then allowing them to be on starting grid.

HRT had to do it, as it would be their only chance of getting some time on the track
How should they bridge the gap when they can not test during the season?
I hope that they will now ship everything to Malaysia and will take part at the first practice as they had to build their cars up in the first practices this weekend
Also it's interesting that the Red Bulls haven't used their KERS in the qualifying
Maybe another genius move from Newey as its rumored that it's just a small battery for the start you can load up in the pits
With this they have a lighter car so they will have a better tyre management as the tyres should last longer
It also improves the car-, brake balance
In the qualifying, Hamilton had a KERS problem so he couldn't use it

In the qualifying, Hamilton had a KERS problem so he couldn't use it Not exactly. It's the sudden extra power that wastes the tires. All cars with the Kers meet the minimal weight, and the front/read weight balance is now imposed, unlike in 2009.
They didn't even use it at the start, btw. I'd say it'd be better having it ready to work though, but only use it for overtaking purposes, if it wastes tires that much.
Even though they didn't use it, the Red Bull cars seemed to be among the worst, or tires preservation.
DRS system wasn't really efficient. On the other hand we might have had no overtaking at all in the main straight line without it. |

Both Sauber`s of Perez and Kobayashi were disqualified afterwards as something on their car wasn`t correct and against the rules.
So both Force India pilots will get some points.

The race wasnt that boring as it could have been, many fights on the track and especially Rubinho gave us some interesting moments during the weekend. When I saw him attacking Rosberg, my eyes opened wide as there wasnt even enough space to pass Mercedes with a motorcycle .
I was impressed with Petrov's performance, regular lap times, no mistakes, a bit of luck and a podium. It surely wasnt Kubica with Petrov's helmet?
Unfortunately, we can only wonder what Robert could have done with such car.

Pretty good race, but after 5 laps I knew Vettell had it, which was lucky for me, as I pretty much pulled an all-nighter to watch it.
And I guess we can conclude that Massa will never be a top 4 driver again, since that accident a few years ago. Or is it just the cars that he's done so badly since returning?

I'd laugh so much if Petrov beat him in Sepang too.
Good race - not great, but promising.
Such a shame the Saubers got DQd |

I do think it's the cars. He's not a guy to lead the development of a car, unlike Alonso. So Alonso's got all of the team (at least the best part of it), developing the car to suit him, while Massa deals with it.
Raikkonnen wasn't involved in anything either, so even though almost as fast he would more or less match him in terms of performances (best laps in race, qualifications, points scored, etc.).
I don't think the accident changed him that much. After a couple of races last year he was who he had always been again. |

Wow I watched the BBC (TSN was showing it) broadcast live on Saturday night/Sunday morning, then I watched the Speed broadcast today, and Speed is 10x better. I like the voices of the BBC broadcast better, but Speed explained all the new rules and BBC didn't really. I was quite surprised.
I actually had no clue what was going on with everyones wing when I watched the race first on BBC, but to defend BBC I did have the volume really low so that I wouldn't wake up others who were sleeping.

How much of the BBC did you get to see though? Just the Brundle/Coulthard commentary - or also the hour's buildup and hour+ aftermath? If only the commentary, then that might explain it why there was a relative lack of explaining.

Just the Brundle and Coulthard commentary during the race. We didn't even get to see the warm-up lap.

Heh, so you didnt even get Brundle's introduction where he talked a little a bit directly to those watching on the English feed outside of Britain
But yeh, most of the 'explainy' stuff took place during the build up to the race.

Well then that changes a lot, because I do prefer their voices over the Speed commentators. I think last year the only race we got to see the pre-race show of was the race in Montreal.

Well, you obviously havent seen an F1 race coverage in Polish TV. The commentators sometimes dont see what is actually happening on the track, they often talk about stuffs not connected with the race at all. Their conclusions are pretty funny and you sometimes wish to turn off the voice. The pre-race show is weak too. They are just sitting in a studio in Poland 15 minutes before the race start and they talk for about 5 minutes about who is on PP, what may happen and where Kubica is. Thats all.
They used to be live on the circuit during the GP weekends about 4 years ago, but they decided to do it even less professionally by putting the commentators in a studio in Poland.
They also sacked the only Polish commentator that knew something about F1.
I wish I had an access to BBC during the GP weekends.
