These cobbles are used in the classic Paris-Roubaix where there are 50km of cobbled sections, the ASO who organise that race (and the Tour de France), give each sector of cobbles a rating depending on length, surface etc.
5 stars is for the most difficult sectors (Trouée d'arenberg)
1 star is for the least difficult sector (Roubaix)

I would bet at Cancellara if he could, but maybe Thor will take it?

I think so, but the difficult part today could be controlling the race... I don´t think Sprinters teams will help with that, and it could be to o much work for Saxo, thinking in helping Andy in such a long tour.
Yes the stars means difficulty.
Thanks for the answers, pesci!
Edit: You too, doddy.

It's Vande Velde who won't start tomorrow. It seems that Farrar's injuries weren't as bad as expected, so he'll go on, as he has nothing broken.
Only a broken wrist.
He will start tomorrow, but i don´t think he will finish the race

Well, Farrar will have big problems on the cobbles today. I am wondering how many riders will abandon today because of their injuries yesterday. Cobbles will make the pain much worse. |

Well, according to the info I had yesterday, he only had some contusions. It seems that was wrong. |

Niki Terpstra had to abandon today. He had high fever, so the docs told him to give up. |

No he didn't. He started the stage and he'll see how it goes.

You really believe he will survive first week without a crash forces him to abandon with his luck? -.- |

He lost over 8 min to Chavanel..
nothing was not wrong..he did not even crashed ..he was just empty |

Bob Roll, Versus' stupid studio guy who makes Ligget and Sherwen look like disinterested geniuses, just said that Chavanel isn't a very good rider and isn't "a specialist on the cobbles."
Shoot me.
EDIT: and in the studio "pick the winner game" the first three riders were Cancellara, Hushovd, and Flecha. And out of every other rider in the pack (including Breschel, Maaskant, etc, etc), Sherwen took Lance.
Yes, Lance.
For a Paris-Roubaix stage.
Garrote me.

Im curious as to how Cancellara will approach it. While in theory he could ride it like Paris Roubaix and win the stage, it would seem more likely that he would be with the Schlecks throughout - be that in the front group, or not.
