I still testing this. According to SVAM, Cyanide Stage guy it is possible to add variants later in your career if you have started the career after 1.0.3.0.
I had no savegame in the end of the year and have no time to simulate a few hours the whole season. So I changed the date with the editor to end of December, but in 2011 there wasn`t my variant. So it might be because I tricked the date. So all contracts running out in 2010 are still in their team in 2011, because I never passed the 15.10.
I hope, if you play your career day for day it will work, but still testing.

It is possible to continue a career with new variants, but it is quite complicate.
You have to use the Full Editor v4, not Lachis Editor. I am not sure why, but I couldn`t create new lines with this one, someone else had the same problem.
1. Copy stages to CM_Stages
2. Copy .descr to CM_Stages/variant
3. Edit the rules, so that you .descr number will be in it
4. Open your savegame with the Full Editor and import it to "test" (can be anything else)
5. Minimize it and go to FullEditor/exports/test (or what you choose before)
6.Scroll to DYN_variant_stages and open the bigger one with right click -> editor (notepad)
7. In this file you scroll down and add the following text between
</DYN_variant_stage> and </DocumentElement>

8. Save this file, go back to the Full Editor and load the same table and click save
9. Choose a new Databasename and click export.
10. This db inside the FullEditor/databases has to been copied to your game savegames under mydoc.

Well, obviously a new patch will be released. So I just wait for the patch and a compatible DB. Then I start a new career and can avoid this. Then this step will be set automatically. You just have to copy the stages, descr and rules into the right folders.

The complicate way is just for already started careers and it`s not even that complicate.

awesome work and im particularly happy you have a long ITT with mountains in it on stage 20. am excited to play just need to use your fix so i can add the variant.

couldnt you just switch the stages out each year, have 2 cm_stage folders both with the variants named the same as the original stages.

hi roturn, you are german, correct me if im wrong? and you enjoy creating stages..
so why dont you make vuelta a alemania? was always such a nice competition, im sure it will be back some day!
maybe 9 stages. 1 of them maybe in austria, prologue, 1 time trail 2 moutain stages, rest flat or hilly.. realistic sorroundings..
i know its not held atm, but still it would be nice to have great stage races from more countries!Smile

there is a lot of variants at work rigth now. it's possible that they will combine at put Variant 1, V2, V3, V4... ?
and have all of those variants at one save? at season 2 we could have V1, at season 3 V2...
It is possible ?

you already got the rules file in CM_Stages/variant you only have to modify it

example: if you got 2 variants and u want to rotate them every couple of years your France - Grand Tour.rules.xml should be like this

In theory, yes.

It's possible to add it to your save game by editing the DB, though. It requires some Advanced Editor knowledge.

Add the new variant to your game and start a new save game. Advance a day and quit the game. Now, load the new save game to the Advanced Editor, and do the same with your old save game. Copy DYN_variant_date and DYN_variant_stage from the new save game to the old one.

Open the advanced editor and export the new .cdb based on your old save game folder. Copy the newly created .cdb to your save game folder and play.
