Was my team even in this race?! Only thing I saw was the first attack by Gudsell, Clarke best in the sprint on 33th place and Chicchi as 55th. Really bad race. Congrats to the podium places!

arthon
Hutarovich was best placed, 37th at the end of the race. At least there's room for improvement. Smile

Had it worked logically, Guillen would do a km, then Van Loocke a km, then Mohs could have been right up there, but thats PCM for you.

Logic and PCM are two absolutely different things Grin

at least I recognized Van Loocke is quite useless rider and he´ll be probably sent out after season

A brief rankings update then:

Bellis still leads, Haedo continues his resurgence after a poor 2010 and is up to 3rd. Croket moves into the Top 10 while Davis and Cavendish debut straight into the Top 15

Team

Mercedes-Benz continue to lead, but now take a break until Tour Meditteraneen - opening up an opportunity for a new leader. UBS have moved to 2nd, but are not in the Tour Down Under, the rest of the Top 10 are however, while Quiksilver are also set to be amongst those to score highly in Tachira. Davis' win brought their first confirmed points of the season, with their wins so far in Tachira yet to be added to the tallies.

Their sprint train may not have worked entirely to plan, but Pokerstars' points put them 11th, and the leading new team. Pendletons, Telenor and HighRoad all took their first points of the season, all 3 having gone pointless from their opening race, and for the latter 2, it is their first ranking points ever in the game. Intesa, Milka and Vespa-Caffrey's all made their season debut's in the classic, but are forced to wait for their first points of the year.

Gatto actually did a great sprint. Just a shame for you he started it in about 70th position. The same applies to Hutarovich and Markov, and probably a few others, they started way back in the peloton, so a strong sprint didnt help much

I had no expectations from this race - you always hope for something though.

It's Steegmans I'll be gutted about if he flops at the TdU.

Why would you be screwed? Team goal of getting promoted?

If you updated your team thread, that'd be nice for us to see what your goals are.

Hopefully Vaitkus can score some points in Tour Down Under, I need him to not waste his race days

1 point scoring day and I'm 10th. Good start to the season

MB has had a good start. I'm hoping it continues. Promotion is probably a long shot, but a top 10 should be achievable.

Not expecting anything more than that (getting in the breaks) until the hill stage.

Also, SN, can you be sure to differentiate the Fellius? It was pretty easy in this stage, but just for the future.

I think I speak for everyone, when I say the standard of reporting has been superb!

The top sprinters really showed themselves there, 100% Me have been knocking on the door every race, about time they took one. Though I have to admit I was excited for Vantomme there.

A lot of attacks from the hilly guys already looking to break the shackles going to be difficult even for a guy like Allan Davis to hold the gaps methinks.

Delighted to get involved with Jamie Ball attacking, south africans really do like Australian races!

7th? Ill take it.

All that work and 3 lousy points. Angry

I was hoping with a 'sprinter' like Steegmans the team would save themselves a bit more. Had enough of always been on the front of the peloton last year.

Good win for Cav though. Could be to the continental division what Haedo was a few years ago.

another crash of my team leader Sad

I was hoping with a sprinter like Rowe my team WOULD be on the front, and from there lead him out. But hey, he's young. Got a lot to learn eh?
