Stage5
Today our team has a high chance of making a podium finish on the GC possible. All we need to do is keep up with the big guys for most of the race and then near the end Vaugrenard or Vanendert depending on who has better legs today will attack and try to win.
Today's break consisted of 4 riders. The got 6 minutes gap on the peloton but no one was too woried.
Just before the 1st climb a group of very strong riders attacked. Hincapie was there along with Fedrigo.
Just after the climb was finished these 3 got ahead of the rest and looked to catch up to the 2 leaders.
This is how the group looked before the final climb.
The climb began and Vanendert felt good.
He caught up to Maaskant but so did Boonen and Chavanel.
Fedrigo went over the top 1st.
Then came the chase group looking to catch Fedrigo. They were about 22 seconds back.
A group of the 10 favourites formed and tried chasing down Fedrigo. Vaugrenard and Vanendert were there.
With 1.5 km to go VAugrenard started the sprint and looked to be gaining on Fedrigo.
But it was too late as Fedrigo went over the line in 1st. What a solo efort by him today!

Stage 6 Tour Down Under
Our team is doing alright. I hope that Vaugrenard cna get some time bonuses today so that he can fininsh the GC in the top 10. Our plan is to ride and ride hard. Look for chances to go for a solo run or a chance to choose the right train in the sprint.
This is today's BOTD. We never thought that they would go far so FDJ didn't need to worry.
The Strong teams controlled the race and the break was caught around the 30km mark. The teams set up trains.
Vaugrenard and Chavanel were in good positions today but their energy was drained too early before the sprint began
Here they come around the bend. Ciolek is in the lead but others are coming fast from behind.
And the Winner is...........
Gerald Ciolek of Colombia-Highroad. He had a good sprint today!

All in all I thought it was a good tour. We didn't manage a stage win like we had thought we could get but a 2nd and 11th on the GC is still pretty good. Vaugrenard was definately our best rider in Australia and our sprinters really disapointed. We expected 3 top 5 finishes 2 of which we thought we coulod get with Hutarovich or Se. Chavanel. We hope our sprinters can redeem themselves next race whatever that may be........... |

nice, at least you got KoM shirt.
Oh, and perhaps make your riders names bold, easier to make sense of results that way.

Stage 1
Our hope is to get 1 stage win and be in the top 8 in the GC when everything is said and done. I know that it's possible because we brought a strong team with us.
This stage was very slow and boring to even be a part of. A break got away but Credit Agricole and Cofidiss our main rivals controlled the pace all day and never let the break get too far.
The teams were lining up for the sprint but Philipe Gilbert had other plans. He decided to try for a solo victory by catching the peloton off guard!
The sprint began. Gilbert was in a good position and it seemed like he was holding his spot in front nicely but then the riders rounded a corner and he lost his momentum or something because for some reason he quickly dropped to 10th spot. Chavanel was our best placed rider now. Could he pull anything off?
The riders whizzed by and Nico Euckhout had won the stage! He was the favourite going in to this stage and he showed us why with that performance.

Etoile de Besseges
Stage 2
Today we plan to do the exact same as yesterday. We will let other teams do the work and then try to isolate the other strong sprinters. Then other teams cannot help out their sprinters as much because they are tired.
Here is today's BOTD. They didn't have much time on the peloton but they weren't getting caught which surprised me. They had about 2 minutes lead the whole day.
On the final climb of the day Gilbert launched an attack. No really he launched one. He was really going fast! I always tell the team bike like you stole something
(Sarcasm)Surprisingly (Sarcasm) he caught up to the breakaway. He went by them pretty fast but some of the mdidn't give up too easily and attacked just to keep up. It eventually didn't prevail as Gilbert just kept a steady pace and soon was alone
There he is all alone!
Gilbert got into the last km. He knew he had won but didn't slow up so he could get as much of a lead as possible.
There he goes a quick check-back just to make sure....
And YES Gilbert won today. That was an extremely impressive win by Gilbert especially for his form. We were so happy for him but that doesn't mean he gets out of buying the team diner.

From FDJ Cycling Team Blog February 15th 2008
_________________________________________________________
According to an unknown source the manager of Francais de Jeux cycling team has resigned. We beleive it is because of family issues but he has told us that he will not be manager for the remainder of the season atleast. We will miss all of the work he has done for us and if he returns to the sport of cycling we wish him the best of luck. We also want to give his family as much support as we can.
Spoiler Not resign but quit just in case you make a mistake.

From Cycling News December 26th 2009
_________________________________________________________
Apparently the former manager who last managed FDJ in 2008 but left early on in the season due to family reasons has left a statement today. "I Patrick Wersley am ready to get back into cycling. I will be open to any offers of manager from any Pro cycling team for the 2010 season.
Please tell me which 2010 team you want me to be for the story.

I was thinking on about 2-3 teams that I would choose.
1. Caisse d'Epargne - They are my favourite team s oit makes sense. But their team is too good maybe?
2. Quick-Step - I think they have an exciting team plus they have fantastic jerseys this year.
3. Ceramica Flamina- Love the jerseys and don't mind Ricco in PCM because he doesn't talk in PCM
Teams I would consider:
Astana-Samruk
Footon-Servetto
Garmin
Lampre
Milram
RadioShack
Cofidis
ISD
Miche
Please tell me which team to be or else I might have to pick myself.

I think ISD, with rujano as it would be interesting see how good you could do in the giro aswell as the tour of malaysia and you will be aiming to win straight away in the 1st race of the season too |
