note: the date from play.com has been pushed back twice already, so you may have to wait longer, then again, you might not

Yeah, i've certainly learned not to take play.com's release dates altogether seriously for pcm, I don't even expect it by the 5th to be honest
Lets just hope I'm wrong, I was hoping to get a few sessions in on the train to Uni, before the work ramps up and I feel like train time should be reading time! I suppose I may just play it anyway and deal with the guilt later! |

Seems like the PSP-game is rather popular. Out of 229 votes the game has received 9.0 in grade out of 10 in Spain's Game boutique. |

ok so another update on the play.com release date: its now supposedly 19/10/07, but its unlikely to even be this date judging by the way things are going. So if anyone is looking to get a copy in a hurry (like before christmas) then order from one of the links CT suggested in this page:

I had seen it coming, unfortunately. I will order my copy from one of the sites I mentioned if I can't find it while I'm in Germany. |

Well I got my copy from France today (huzzah) and with much excitement I loaded it into my PSP. The front end is cool, the music is like a wonderful old friend (so far, until I get annoyed with it) and it generally swoops along at a good speed in game.
PLUS POINTS:
- You can play a "tour" but you can choose which stages from the tour you'll ride so I tried out a TdF and just selected 12 stages of the 21 - coolios.
- Each squad is still large, even if you only choose five.
- Rasmussen cycles for Rabobank.
- Controls make sense and the graphics are definitely decent enough. It feels like PCM.
NEGATIVE POINTS:
- Time trials are miserable.
- The camera choices are a bit limited - of the four I can only see myself using two though they're borh generally okay.
That's from ten minutes play - one time trial and three quarters of the London-Canterbury (whho hometown!) stage.

Much wub to: Cav, Millar, Lovqvist, Cunego, Hinc, Voigt, Cancellara, Menchov.
Wub to: Wiggins, Boonen, Beppu, Kloden, Gesink, Rogers, Moncoutie, Roche.

New update:
I suck, though just picked up a third place in the fourth stage of the Paris-Nice with Bram DeGroot - bettering my previous best of 20th by some way!
One of the cameras is rotatable, and can be moved up and down - genius and defenitely cool and useful so strike my earlier camera remark.
The music and sound is poop so swap that around too.
The training is cool, choosing when you want your squad to peak and at different times - really smart really.

I'm officially useless - although I've got no good cyclists on form as they're all set up for le Tour, Italy and Spain. Flecha is being useless and only De Groot is performing....But then I DO appear to be rubbish...I'm still struggling with the fact that sprints start at 20km and you QUICKLY need to push your sprinter up to the front or you'll get SO badly blocked in on ridiculously narrow roads that 20th is all you can hope for.

Just to rub it in some more....
Thomas Dakkor is a legend. I brough thim in for the GP Pais Vasco as my fit cyclists are all junk or, in the case of Flecha, really not suited to the Tour. He started the Tour unfit but his fitness improved throughout and he ended up as best young rider and second overall, 30 seconds behind 1st and a couple of minutes ahead of third. Some great riding, he didn't win any stages but he can really break with 40-30km to go. Excellent.
Just raced GP van Vlaanderen, the first northern classic of the season and perfect for Flecha who returned and in the end got beaten out by Alessandro Ballan into second after a few of them broke from the thinning group. Still, that got me some good money to put towards next season's wages (meant I could re-sign De Groot for '08 and '09)
A slight negative I've picked up is that due to the way sprints are done, and the slightly pared down tactics (no "protect" and no infinite relay, although relaying with full effort has a similar effect) means that you can sometimes end up purely racing for one cyclist in your team and not worrying about the others - but then that sometimes happens on the PC.
Glad that the season is starting to move on though as Boogerd's rise to fitness is jsut around the corner for a month of classics (mmm lots of second places) and I've made my first big signing for next season - David Zabriskie from CSC to strengthen my chance of some TT victories - one of Rabobank's main weaknesses.
Sadly though I think that my mistake of not knowing how contracts worked when I first started playing may mean that Freire won't sre-sign with me next season - grrr.

Wahey! Won my first race/stage - a lovely classic in which only small breaks took place all race - the peloton mostly stayed together with a few dropped back. In the end, heading up the second to last cobbled hill I sent Von Bon and Flecha on a break (about 50km from the end) and they stretched out to 3 and a half minutes with Von Bon killing himself for Flecha. Into the sprint they were still a minute ahead of the chasing group (with Hincapie et al) and Von Bon peeled aside after leading Flecha out in a sprint (more to keep them ahead than anything!) for my classics genius to win. It also moves Flecha into second place in the season standings and thanks to Von Bon's second place (mmm 1-2) Rabobank are now top in the team standings.
Right now the game is paused in the next classic (can't remember which one) but it's a 230km monster. A decent sized group stretched to 8 minutes half way through but I killed my hard working domestiques to drag them back in which at the same time started to stretch the group. Right now we're to 60km to go, a really tense moment. The lead group is down to around 24 cyclists with Von Bon and Flecha (the on-form men of the moment) looking comfortable as a steady stream of men drop back. Also Hincapie suffered a puncture and Cancellera crashed meaning the two of them are trailing, and even if they DO catch up again they'll be too spent going into the last 20km.
It's almost too exciting and interesting and balanced to continue with.
So yes, the game is coming into it's own...
Also, on classics stages the sprint is a LOT shorter which is great (about 5km) and even shorter on hills which I definitely prefer. Also I'm starting to learn how to use my team in this version which is really cool and now I've got a couple of on-form cyclists in action it's more enjoyable - afterall I don't WANT to win every stage but I like to generally have one of my cyclists there or there abouts if I feel I've performed well.

Now that Play.com has it, there's no doubt -- I just ordered it from there. I've bought so many things from there, and I've never had any single problem even though I live in Denmark |

Yes, play.com are very reliable with their deliveries. Only thing that annoys me is sometimes they send items by 2nd class post usually, so you end up waiting a few days for it, but some things come by first class - pro evo for example. Anyone know why pro evo gets special treatment? |

Well, they have to be be able to compete with other companies. If they don't get the game out as soon as possible, people will either buy it in the shops or in another online shop where they can get fast delivery. However, with smaller / older titles, it doesn't really matter when people get it. |

Free delivery on nearly all goods means they've got to go to second class sometimes to make the profit

It's also pretty amazing that they have free delivery to foreign countries. |
