Elite level, so the same level as a pro, but doesn't need to be on a pro team. The problem is, there are about 300-400 british elites. 200 of whom are pros, and getting paid, so probably won't help me out. The other 200 are scattered about this country and others. If I find enough, I'll be lucky!
Yeah, uni lets me use the lab for "free". Or for £3225 a year. Depending on which way you view it...

You have to do a dissertation just to get a Bachelors?, thats fairly intense. And as far as the money goes, just be glad you aren't an international student.

Not only that but just going to a decent sized school in the states is way more than that. If I get into UCLA it would be like ~$45k / Year before scholarships and the like. I would kill for 3225 (like 5k USD?) / year.
Back on topic though, Let's talk about doping shall we?

I did have another question when I posted that this morning and I was planning on coupling the two into one post but I went back to bed after thinking about it and thus forgot, so here's the late follow up:
How do riders seem to get ahold of this so easily?
I'm not just talking Pro Tour riders either, just saw on Velo News that some local Cat 1 got busted for steroid / growth hormone type stuff in (Texas?) the other day and I know of a guy named Dewey Dickey who races in the northern mid-west who tested positive for EPO and last year(Two years ago?) a guy named Kael Leogrande from Rock Racings lower levels tested positive at the Downer Crit for EPO.
Are there doctors who just sit behind a desk and fill out perscriptions with no name for these things and then sell them at bike races that I'm unaware of?
I've heard you can get this kinda stuff on the internet, but if that's not the sketchiest biggest risk of money and life then I'm not sure what is. (If a random person from India mailed you something and told you to inject it, would you?)
Not that I'm trying to get ahold of anything so you don't have to be specific if you know but it perplexes me how even low level athletes seem to have a way of getting ahold of these things and how more doctors aren't arrested for it.
Always Wondering,
Shifty

If you search for steroids of google most top results are sites that want to sell you steroids, i think that people will ask in forums what sites are to be trusted and what sites are not. Goes the same with EPO I think.

Yes, that's right. I don't really know how it is about EPO, but I can assure that, at least where I live, it's pretty easy to get steroids. Moreover, if you want to dope, and you don't know how, just go to a gym, sit down and pay attention to what other people there say (not very polite, but neither it is to cheat). Then, it's very likely than in least than an hour you could find how and where you can find steroids and even growth hormone. And this just in a little gym of a very little town. |

Wow that's unfortunate, At the same time there are "Anti-Aging" doctors in the U.S. that somehow manage to get away with prescribing perfectly healthy men in their 30s with steroids and growth hormone to keep them looking younger.
Still seems pretty dangerous, If I thought I had cancer I wouldn't go ask someone who read a book about cancer once I'd go to a professional. Then again most people who are willing to accept the possible adverse effects wouldn't be too worried about how accurate their information was.

I think you do overestimate inteligence right now, at some point, that guy next to you in the gym just looks so much better (not in a gay way), so you wanna know what he's on. Then a viscius circle begins.

I saw somewhere that riders were testing positive for and being sanction for taking Ritalin in the Vuelta a few years back.
What good does Ritalin do for riders that makes it worth risking a ban for and do other similar prescriptions (Adderall and the like) do (or not) the same thing?

maybe ritalin help to mask something, like if you take ritalin, nobody will be able to see that you have take Massive dose of EPO, steroide and testosterone?

I think diuretics are generally used to mask other drugs. I know Ritalin is technically an Amphetamine and those used to be widely used to give you energy and delay fatigue and to help numb muscles but I didn't think that Ritalin, a drug that can be prescribed to young children, was strong enough to have worthwhile effects, unless if they maybe took them 3 or 4 at a time?

Ritalin is for mind, it don't make effect on your muscles.
ask it to my brother
The only effect that it can have will not help a rider, I think
