The quick sim wasn't kind on you. You play a lot better than you sim
A not-so-close second there, but still a great effort |

@ all -
Thanks so much.

Baltic Chain Tour Stage 5 (2.2)
August 22nd, 2013
Todays stage is mostly flat, and should come down to a fight for the sprinters. It will be a tough day for Hunal and Krotky, who have both lost their sprinting legs for the rest of the year, by the looks of it.
With the early KOM sprint, Okrouhlicky made a go for them, but was beaten to the line by Rubnik of Radenska so obviously not as great as we could have hoped for, but still in the lead by quite a margin.
Now we head to the action in the sprint, where the Alpha Baltic team is making a good looking train and could be in with a shot of winning in really one of their biggest races of the year for them. Unfortunately, there is a rider in yellow sitting just behind their train.....
And Mohoric uses the slipstream perfectly to take another victory. He is clearly the dominant rider in this field, and everyone will be looking to beat him from now on.

Baltic Chain Tour Stage 6 (2.2)
August 24rd, 2013
It is now time for probably the most important stage of the tour! With all of the hills at the end, it could be a really showdown between all of the top riders!
The action begins with a 2 man breakaway. The rider for Etixx, Hnik would eventually separate himself from his companion and go on with his attack all alone! Would this be the right move though?
On the very first passing of the hills towards the end of the stage, a bunch of the favourites make moves, including Mohoric however they didn't get far and fell back to the peloton to save energy for any possible moves at a latter moment. This would prove costly though!
With a bit of a lull in the peloton happening, Okrouhlicky makes a massive attack and is now the 2nd man on the road behind Hnik. He used the hills perfectly in that attack!
He is joined by a few other leaders, including Verhelst, but Mohoric is in a chasing group nearly 1 minute down on Okrouhlicky. If the race were to end at this point, Mohoric would concede 1st overall to Verhelst who is only 24 seconds down!
Up front Hnik wins the race. It was always likely to happen with the real racing happening behind and Hnik posing no real threat to the leaders gc battle.
Behind them the Okrouhlicky group started the sprint to the line.
Furst takes 2nd place, while Verhelst and Skujins both beat Okrouhlicky to the line as well, but the most important thing is the gap to Mohoric, who is not with them, and still likely over a minute down! Verhelst moves to 1st and Okrouhlicky into 2nd, with maybe a bit of an advantage to him with the TT coming up. If things go well for him, he might be able to snag the GC from Verhelst! What a finish that would make!

@ sutty - Yeah, he really pulled that whole group with him too. It was a great ride despite being outsprinted.
@ Miguel - Thanks, thats the hope. No win most likely, but just consistent riding.

Great riding from Tomas, hopefully the team can hang onto this good result. Also good to see a different Czech rider winning a stage |

Thanks. Yeah its nice to see Hnik riding welL! The final 2 stages will be up shortly.
*Note: I've decided to withdraw from the Latvian Cycle Race, as I feel the team has way over-raced this year (partly due to my schedules) and I also just want to get to the new season at this point. So only the Tour Bohemia left after this!

Baltic Chain Tour Stage 7 (2.2)
August 24th, 2013
Its now time for the final road stage, and it seems like the overall favourites are going to settle everything in the 9km TT tomorrow. Its going to be difficult to get any major changes there tomorrow though, so there could be some surprise moves today! Either way, I think a sprint is the most likely outcome of todays stage!
With 30km to go, Pavek followed a move and the two riders went on together until the 8km mark where they were both swept up by the charging peloton, led by Sava!
The sprinters are now being set up by their team mates and Dukla Praha are making a real push on the left side of the road, with Kopecky, Hunal and Krotky forming a nice looking train just beside them! Mohoric is also placed just behind them, and other strong sprinters scattered just around them!
With the sprint starting, Krotky looks like he's in a good spot to win, but he's starting to fade.
Dukla Praha prove they had the strongest team here today and Kankovsky is the winner on todays stage, just ahead of Mohoric and Jurco! Our sprinters grab 4th and 5th which isn't too bad really!

Baltic Chain Tour Stage 8 (2.2)
August 25th, 2013
Time for the final day of racing and its a 9.4km TT! It would be more decisive if it was longer than it is, but it could still be possible to beat Verhelst by 25 seconds if Okrouhlicky is really good!
The race for first is on, as Tomas sets off! He is going at a great pace, but it doesn't look like its going to be enough from our observations!
Verhelst heads off and is also going quite well! This isn't good news for us, and it is reported that the two riders are essentially riding at the exact same pace today!
Verheslt crosses the line and gains 2 seconds on Tomas which means he has extended his lead by a very slim margin! Thankfully the 2nd place is held, and we can be proud of the team who rode a solid race here, and will give the team some valuable points in the rankings!

@ Sutty - Thanks! Tomas did really well, and was our best rider for sure! Its nice to do well in the GC like that, tho I suppose the small startlist helped!
@ Mre - Thanks. Its actually not that hard for me ok-rouh-licky. That helps me with spelling it actually.
@ all - final race of the season coming up now!

Tour Bohemia (1.2)
September 21st, 2013
Its finally time for the last race of the year! The course looks to be suited to the hilly riders, as it is unlikely that any of the pure sprinters will be able to make it over the climbs in the front group! Verhelst who was one of the main antagonist in our last race is challenging us once again here as the odds on favourite!
The action begins with a 4 man breakaway, including Vaclac Viktorin. However thanks to the pace of the Sparta Praha rider on the climbs, two of the riders were dropped but would eventually get back on near the end of the race! The peloton pushed hard to bring them back, and with 40km to go, Lovassy made an attack from the peloton and bridged the gap of 1 minute to join the breakaway riders!
This was all short lived though, as the peloton brought them all back with about 17km to go! A couple other attacks were made, but none could stick!
That was until the 2km mark, where Oleksandr Sheydik of ISD Continental made an attack! He made a surprise move around one of the corners and the peloton were late to react!
He would catch a group of stragglers and cross the line in a group of about 20 riders, making the finish photo look strange!
Luckily, Kopecky made a good move to try and catch the eventual winner and would hold on to take 2nd place! He was close to catching Sheydik but 2nd will have to do, and in all honesty it is still a good result!

It was a great end of the season for Tony Martin and Vincenzo Nibali who won their respective World Championship races! Italy really dominated the road race, and the most disappointed nation will no doubt be Spain who really would have liked Valverde to have been at the race, as Im sure he would have provided a lot more activity for them. Purito didn't do well enough, and some will feel both Valverde's and Purito's chances of winning the WC during their careers are slipping away. Nibali gets a well deserved win, and Martin extends his dominances of the TT's proving yet again that he is the best in that discipline.

The final segment of the tear was a great one for Vincenzo Nibali who won the Vuelta and then took that form and went on to win the World Championships too! This will be remembered as one of his best seasons yet and he will be hoping he can continue his success into next year!

Purito ends the season on top of the rankings and he can be very happy with that! He had a very consistent season and fully deserves the top spot. The biggest surprise is probably Kwiatkowski in 3rd place, as he really had a strong season although isn't really viewed as being on the same level as some of the other names below him, or atleast just yet.

Konig fell in the rankings a bit, and Santambrogio really moved up, to take the top spot in the Conti rankings. Hunal is the teams top placed rider in 62nd and which is great, although he did slip down the ladder a bit in the final part of the season.

Not a real shock to see the two top teams are NetApp and Sojasun, but we placed in a pretty strong 30th position, which is very high for a team of our calibre. We want to improve on that next season, but it will be hard to get a lot higher I feel.

In the CQ Rankings, our team finished 70th, which isn't probably as great as we could have hoped following our good season, but its something to improve on for next year.

AS you can probably see by the graphics here, it has already calculated the teams to promote and relegate, although this is only temporary as it hasn't calculated team changes and sponsor changes yet, so we could still see different teams in the Pro Tour!
For now though, the newest teams to the World Tour are, Vini Fantini, Europcar
While AG2R and Argos have relegated.
