The Rider: Thanks! Yeah, Bikex did a great job and was really fast with creating the great looking nc's. You'll see them soon. No, the Portuguese one is really surprising. And don't expect too much from the transfers.

Also I am in awe of your bike, how would I go about getting a custom frame or wheels or helmet for Qatar Optics? |

The Rider: I don't say we won't contract anyone, but don't expect big transfers. Still we'll contract some great talents.
And about the second one I'll talk to you in a private message instead of this thread.

National Champion Jerseys
Well, after winning three national championships and two new jerseys I think you're curious to see how they will look like. Well, here they are. Special thanks to Bikex who created these great jerseys!
To's national champion jersey.
Rodrigues' national champion jersey.

sutty68; They look great in it! You'll see soon.
duxili: I'm happy that we've won two of them. I expected Hong Kong, but Portugal is a big surprise. If Sobczyk was in better shape he could have had a chance in Poland. And if the Americans gave the breakaway a chance (just as the French did, Sébastien Chavanel won) then we had a big chance there as well. But I'm curious as well to see which one we can win next year.

June was a really great month for us! Rodrigues did great and won the Tour of Luxembourg. After that, he was surprisingly the winner of the Portuguese Championships. To did great as well to win both Hong Kong Championships. With four victories this was a great month for us! We’re happy with this. Next month won’t be a very busy month. We only participate in the Tour of Wallonie. At the end of this month, our trainees will come in our team. Oh, didn’t I tell you there are coming trainees? Well, you’ll hear about that soon.

Invite
Last evening I was called by someone from the NOS, the Dutch television. Every year during the Tour de France they have a programme called De Avondetappe (The Eveningstage). They heard about me during the Ronde van Drenthe (thanks to that great journalist), after we’ve won there with Ian Watson. They asked me if I would participate in the programme. The date would be July 13th, the evening after the thirteenth stage. Of course I accepted, so I’ll be there. Don’t forget to watch!

Let's hope Dutch Television will be paying Hot Wheels a lot of money for this TV time with the D.S. |

The Rider: I don't think so. Dutch people are miserly, including television channels.

De Avondetappe
Hi everyone! Last night I was a guest at De Avondetappe, a Dutch talk show about the Tour de France. Because it’s in Dutch, here’s a translated version for you. (Of course these are short fragments from it). (For people who don't know the other persons: Mart Smeets is the presenter, Thijs Zonneveld is a columnist and the Race Director from the Dutch Food Valley Classic, and Me, well, that's me).
Mart Smeets: Hi everyone, welcome here in this beautiful small village nearby Annonay, the finish of today’s stage. A great stage, at least, for the Dutch people. Sebastian Langeveld won today the sprint from a breakaway and now he’s official the successor from Pieter Weening, who won the last Dutch stage in Le Tour in 2005. That’s eight years ago, that’s a really long time. Isn’t it, Thijs?
Thijs Zonneveld: Yeah, it is. And I think that it’s great for the Dutch cycling. We’ve waited too long for this. The Netherlands is a real cycling country, but the last few years were quite bad for us. But I think we’re on the way back to the top looking to the stage victories from Langeveld today and Koen de Kort in the Giro, and of course the high classifications from Robert and Bauke here in the Tour. And Kruijswijk isn’t doing bad as well. And of course, Boom who wore the yellow jersey, Langeveld the KoM jersey and Kelderman the white jersey. And of course we may not forget that Blanco is currently first in the team classification.
Mart Smeets: And we have another special guest. He’s Dutch, but he’s leading a young, American team. Welcome!
Me: Thanks!
Mart Smeets: Your story is very special. Tell us about your team. How did you start?
Me: I’ve always loved cycling and I really wanted to work here. My idea was to create a team with only young talents, a clean team. You’ll never know what happens when you start a team with popular riders. I mean, you want to trust those people, but you’re never sure about it. So I contracted a lot of young riders for my team.
Mart Smeets: But how did you find the sponsors? I mean, Hot-Wheels and Porsche are both big companies. Why are the sponsoring such a small team as yours?
Me: When I came there, I had a clear intention about what I want and how I want it. And I told them my ideas for the future. They were impressed. But cycling doesn’t have a great name for sponsors, so they told me that they only want to sponsor our team if it’s clean. And that’s why my team only has young talents. It’s a big risk to take other riders.
Mart Smeets: But you can never be sure that your team is clean? Or can you?
Me: No, of course you can never be sure about that. But when a rider signs a contract here, there’s a clause in his contract, that if he will ever use doping, that he has to pay a lot of money to the sponsors. That’s an example, but there are more clauses about doping. But if they don’t use it, there’s nothing to worry about.
Mart Smeets: But why are there only neo-profs at your team? I mean, if other riders sign a contract at your team, and you have that many clauses in a contract, why don’t you sign them?
Me: You can never be sure about their past. And you can control the past from neo-profs. And it should be possible, but the sponsor don’t want it.
Mart Smeets: And now about your team. Your team is doing well, isn’t it?
Me: Yeah, they’re doing great. The victories from Ian Watson in Drenthe were great, and after that, it went even better.
Mart Smeets: Winning the Portuguese Championships isn’t nothing.
Me: No, it’s not. It’s great to beat some great riders. And winning the Tour of Luxembourg is great as well!
Mart Smeets: What are your objectives for the next part of the season?
Me: I really want to win another time, and I hope the team will do great in the USA Pro Challenge. I also hope that we can train our trainees, which are coming at the start of August.
Mart Smeets: About the trainees. Those are riders who rode your Talent Race, isn’t it?
Me: Yeah, most of them rode that race.
Mart Smeets: It was a great idea.
Me: Yeah, it was, and I’m happy that it was successful.
Mart Smeets: And Thijs, what are you going to do tomorrow?
Thijs Zonneveld: I’ll ride a part of the parcours tomorrow, but I think it won’t be very interesting. I expect a mass sprint. But after that, I’ll enjoy the great cycling from the Dutchies!
Mart Smeets: And what are you going to do to?
Me: Next week starts the Tour de Wallonie, and after that the trainees will join our team. So it’ll be busy!
Mart Smeets: Good luck! And I hope that we hear more about you in the future. It was a great day for the Dutch cycling. May I say that? Yes, I may say that! From France I say; goodbye!

(Well that's how he came across.)
Goodness knows why he didn't ask you your opinions on the day's racing! |

Trainees
A while ago I told you that we’ve contracted some trainees, and that I should let you know which one will be a part of our team next season.
The winner of our Talents race, the Colombian José Remuzgo, has signed a contract at our team. It seems like he’s a great talent, and we hope that he’ll be a great rider.
Lynge, the Danish rider who finished eightieth here, won’t ride for our team. He said that he doesn’t want to ride for our team and he’s looking for another team. Well, I think that’s no problem.
The Spanish rider Garcia Sánchez has signed the contract. So he’ll be our second Spaniard, after Luis Freire.
Sylvain Pellerin will leave our team at the end of the season, but we’ve signed another Frenchman who can hopefully replace him. Massot will ride for our team.
We’re happy with the fact that the best placed American rider, Aguilar, has signed a contract as well. It seems like he’s a great talent, and we hope he’ll develop great.
Both Germans, Hendrik Max and Volker Grimm, refused the contract. Volker Grimm already had a contract at Nuttrixion, and we don’t know the reason from Hendrik Max. But we really needed a German rider, so we contracted Sven Hahn. I hope this isn’t a hasty signing.
And we’ve contracted a rider from Luxembourg. Tom Rodriguez already said to me that he was interesting to ride for our team, and I think he has some potential, so we gave him a contract as well and he signed. Don’t change him with our Portuguese champion Rodrigues.

Le Tour de France
After Wiggins winning the Giro, Sky won the Tour with Froome, as excepted. He didn't really had a real challenge, because Contador was just back from an injury and wasn't in shape.
Tony Martin won the prologue in Liège, but he had bad luck. During stage six he fell, and got injured. He was the first one leaving the Tour. Because of that, number 2 in the classification Lars Boom took the yellow jersey. Voeckler and Van Garderen wore them as well, but from stage 12 it was Froome who took it till the end.
Cavendish won the boring fight for the green jersey. Sagan didn't participate. He already rode the Giro.
Langeveld took the first mountain jersey. After that, it was an exciting fight between Voeckler and Pinot, but Voeckler won it, for the second year in a row.
It looked like Blanco should win the team classification, but the 7th, 8th and 9th place in the gc weren't enough for that. Radioshack took it in the final mountain stage.
Cavendish was the best sprinter this Tour. Voeckler was the French hero with two stage wins and the mountain jersey (wasn't that the same as in 2012?). It seems like Andy Schleck is back with a stage win. Langeveld took the first Dutch stage win in eight years. Roy won surprisingly the sprint from the breakaway on the Champs-Elysées.
