Palmdale – Big Bear Lake: 185 kms - Hilly

Stage six gives the climbers a steady climb as the race goes up to big bear lake, a well rounded rider shouldn't have too much problems with the pace, but some of the pure sprinters are not going to be too happy.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/61.jpg

The early breakaway, if you can call it early... took a while to get formed, and was only small with three riders. They never were able to establish much of a time gap either, as the largest was only around five minutes over the peloton. They would be joined later though by several others.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/62.jpg

Many riders attacked, looking to gap to the breakaway and toughen up the race, most of them succeeded while BMC took control of the peloton even with their own man up in front. Some of the distance had to get closed quickly.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/63.jpg

Even in the now large breakaway the riders were constantly attacking each other, as Andreas Kloden (RSLT) makes a strong move with about 10km left to go in the race. It looks as though the breakaway has a chance, but BMC is closing down the gap fast with race leader Taylor Phinney taking some pulls on the front.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/64.jpg

But it is a day for some of the strong that bridged to the breakaway. Kloden is rewarded for his move taking the win, followed closely by Luis Leon Sanchez (Blanco) who will take the overall race lead. Thomas Rohregger (RSLT) rounds out the podium.

A mistake in judgment looks like it could cost BMC the race, as LLS takes nearly a minute lead over Phinney. Tejay is still in 4th, and Sky's Vasil Kiryienka moves up to third. Only the queen stage and a flat into L.A. remain to decide the race.

I'll be grabbing a quick bite to eat, then starting the next stage of the Giro! Oss could be looking for back-to-back wins. Guessing on starting around 12:00 US Central (6pm London)

Giro d'Italia
May 18th, 2013
Busseto – Cherasco: 242.1 kms - Flat

A day designed again for the sprinters, but some serious climbing right at the end could give it to the punchers or a tactical attack from the GC favorites. The climbs could drop some of the sprinters also if the breakaway gets out ahead far enough and the peloton is forced to put it too much effort. Which might give the break a chance.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/131.jpg

The break of the day would get off cleanly, and have little problems on the mostly flat road, even enjoying a tailwind most of the day. The group would get around a nine minute lead before the peloton would start to pull them back on this long stage.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/132.jpg

The attacks would come as soon as the road started to get vertical though, with Benat Intxausti (Movistar) making the first move, followed by Purito (Katusha, Rodriguez) Tom Danielson (Garmin) and Domenico Pozzovivo (AG2R).
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/133.jpg

With one attack brought back another would go, this time the Italians, with Vincenzo Nibali (Astana) leading the way, and Michele Scarponi (Lampre) on his wheel. Robert Gesink (Blanco) would also get across to them for a moment.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/134.jpg

Gesink was only with them for a moment because he attacked them as soon as he got up to them and put everyone behind him. The long climb would be too tough though as the field would soon be back on pace with everyone as Sky wasn't too fond of having GC riders out front.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/135.jpg

The tail end of the peloton found some trouble though as a crash will leave some extra scars on the riders that were already struggling with the pace. Adam Blythe goes down for the third time in this race, after just recovering from a more serious crash back in Pais Vasco.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/136.jpg

A few select sprinters that survived everything would get their chance, as John Degenkolb (Argos) wins over Peter Sagan (Cannondale) and Matthew Goss (Orica) behind those three though were several GC riders, with other sprinters finding themselves struggling with either the climbs or the distance.

Had to pull out all the stops, and still couldn't get enough. LLS was right with me all the way to the last little bit. Leapfrog plan didn't pan out quite as well as I had hoped, breakaway wasn't far enough ahead.

Could I ask one question? I see you using Paint.Net, I was able to download it yesterday. How do you do it so fast that you select a part of a screenshot and the rest just disappears immediately? Is there a key for that?

Thanks!

Cossack
I watched your Giro stream and IMHO Oss wasn't in that bad shape after climbs, but you totally exhausted him with Evans's leadout, it was too fast for him.

Amgen Tour of California
May 19th, 2013
Ontario – Mt. Baldy: 116.1 kms - Mountains

The queen stage of the Tour of California will test the climbers and the GC favorites as they fight for the top of Mt. Baldy. An early climb will also get in the way, and perhaps gives the breakaway a chance, but with a competitive GC wrapping up, nothing is for certain.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/71.jpg

The early breakaway would get out quickly and build a strong lead, led by Amael Moinard up the first category two climb. No one would challenge for the points as that classification was already wrapped up and in the hands of BMC teammate Stephen Cummings.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/72.jpg

BMC is getting desparate, with Moinard already in the breakaway, they send Larry Warbasse out front to try and gain some ground as well, certainly wanting to get riders out for the impending Tejay attack. Other teams will have noticed and probably won't let him get far.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/74.jpg

For all of BMC's efforts to get Tejay away and a chance to put some serious time into the GC, the favorites all showed up for the selection with BMC getting both Tejay and Steve Morabito, while Radioshack also got two riders in Kloden and Rohregger. Race leader Luis Leon Sanchez, and current second Vasil Kiryienka finish out the selection.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/73.jpg

Tejay would be the first to put the pressure on, but Kiryienka would make the move and only Van Garderen could respond! Kloden would give his best push, but couldn't stick to the wheels, while Morabito and Sanchez struggle to the top and Rohregger pops just barely moving the bike.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/75.jpg

The victory would go to Tejay as he was just able to get by Kiryienka, now the question would be how much time did the pair put into Sanchez. LLS had over a minute of ground on both riders so the gap would need to be big. One flat stage remains, and we might see some GC riders putting on a show if it is tight.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/ToC/76.jpg

Steve Morabito and Luis Leon Sanchez would finally come across, just seconds over a minute behind which means the GC should be very close between the top three riders. I'm sure everyone will be nervous to see the official times and calculate in any time bonus for the stage.

The GC is incredibly tight, with LLS holding onto the lead but only by 10" over Kiryienka and only 14" on Van Garderen. Expect to see some of the sprints matter tomorrow as they will be fighting for that bonus time. Sanchez already has some good results in that area.

Could I ask one question? I see you using Paint.Net, I was able to download it yesterday. How do you do it so fast that you select a part of a screenshot and the rest just disappears immediately? Is there a key for that?

Thanks!

Yes, I use hotkeys for basically everything in PDN.

I watched your Giro stream and IMHO Oss wasn't in that bad shape after climbs, but you totally exhausted him with Evans's leadout, it was too fast for him.

Yea, I was more trying to win with Evans than Oss though in that spot. I burned them both way too fast though should have kept Evans down until the sprint and let Oss do his thing as the fastest left.

Time for the Giro right!

Here we go! Follow this link to my twitch.tv channel I'll also be showing how I make recaps after the stage an answering any questions!

Be starting in around 7 minutes (bio/drink break) which puts us at around 2:15 Houston time, 8:15 London, and 17:15 in Sydney.

Giro d'Italia
May 19th, 2013
Cervere – Bardonecchia (Jafferau): 155.9 kms - Mountains

The final stage of the 2nd week of the Giro sends the riders on yet another climb, which as always can mean chances for the riders aiming to win the GC. Two climbs on the list for the day, but it will the the final climb of 6km at an average of over 11% that decides the winner.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/141.jpg

I feel I must have the obligitory picture of the breakaway, though they really never stood a chance in today's stage as the GC riders had plans to get aggressive and team Sky has little problem burning through their large list of climbers. Seriously... Siutsou, Cataldo, Henao, Uran, and Froome are all just help. (74, 76, 77, 77, 81 MO respectively).
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/142.jpg

On the first climb a team attack from Euskaltel as Igor Anton leads the way for Samuel Sanchez, unfortunately even the Euskeltel riders don't have the power of Sky and don't get far before the train takes them over.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/143.jpg

The first attack up to get to the summit of Jafferau would come from Italian Champion Franco Pellizoti (Androni) as our camera man gets a tremendous shot of him digging deep on the attack in front of the Sky train. Like all others though, the attack wouldn't result in anything.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/144.jpg

Another attack would try with Heimar Zubeldia (RSLT), ahead of Jurgen Van den Broeck (Lotto), and Rinaldo Nocentini (AG2R). And another attack would get eaten up by team Sky and their monsters. Wiggins will continue to just ride behind his help as no one can get away from them.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/145.jpg

The final futile attempt would come from Sammy Sanchez, with Vincenzo Nibali following as Domenico Pozzovivo and Van den Broeck try to stick with their wheels. Cadel Evans complains later that he too wanted to join, but was intentionally blocked by Sky.
i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/Centaursunder/BMC/2013/Giro/146.jpg

This attack unlike all the others though paid off, as Nibali is able to sail clear to the victory, and the GC lead. Cadel finally gets through the Sky blockade and is able to move up to third with a very strong attack up the hill to get by Scarponi (Lampre), Hesjedal (Garmin) and Pozzovivo. Sammy Sanchez would take second after starting this move himself.

You put in title that it's AToC instead of Giro.

Thanks, fixed. I think he can do better also, he really was blocked by Sky and wasn't able to start moving up when I wanted him to, and it cost him.

Kinda scary how true to the actual Giro this is holding. After stage 14 IRL:
Nibali - Astana
Evans - BMC
Uran - Sky
Santambrogio (Okay, I know)... Vini
Scarponi - Lampre

So 1-2 are same, 3rd is wrong Sky rider (who's 7th in game), 5th is 5th.
