Certainly a good win by Gilbert, but I don't think he would have made if Greipel hadn't crashed making Lotto abandon the chase

Phil was a bit lucky there with the peloton crash, but still a nice victory for him.

Just in artificial choma
I plan on reviving it as soon as I'm done with reporting Bayern Rundfahrt for UCPCL (which is very soon).
Edit: Thanks for missing it!

Team Classification: ? Spoiler The Team classification seems to be broken to some extent. I expect that it's due to the numbers getting a bit too high for the DB and hope it doesn't spread to other classifications

Jesleyh: It is. Sorry it took so long, but now I will live up to my promise and follow it right to the end!
Probably was a nice win for Cancellara - don't really know
Interesting though to see that Nibali takes back the points jersey from Cavendish!

Stage 49: Huesca - Alcañiz
Real life: Dekenkolb won the sprint ahead of Viviani and Davis.
With 100 km to go Swift, Castroviejo, Boeckmans and Millar have 34 seconds to another 14 riders and a further 2’29’’ to the peloton.
In the end too many teams want a sprint and already with 70 km to the line the break is reeled back in.
The last part could be explosive with everything back together.
A very dangerous trio gets away and has 2 minutes with 50 km to go. Cancellara, Boom and Phinney could ride a strong TTT…
The sprinter teams doesn’t even want to try and catch the breakers so Geraint Thomas decides to try and join the break.
But they were only having a break and with 13 km to the line everything is set up for a bunch sprint once again.
Cancellara gives it another try and gets a small gap alone.
He only last 7 km
5 km to go and Orica is in front for Goss while Tony Martin and Boonen are keeping Cavendish in a good position as well.
De Gendt tries to cheat the sprinters
Boonen opens the leadout early. With Greipel, Degenkolb and Sagan in Cav’s wheel probably too early
With 1,5 km to the line Cavendish sets in his punch and passes De Gendt
Going under the red flame it’s Cav in front with Greipel in his wheel and Degenkolb and Sagan coming on the outside.
500 m to go. The only thing that is certain is that Cavendish is done.
The Slovakian champion takes it.

Team Classification: Sky Wiggins Spoiler The Team classification is still broken, but Sky Wiggins had a big enough lead that nothing will have changed. I hava an idea that might be able to fix the problem though...
Readers Competition
That also concludes for this round of the readers competition.
To refresh these were the questions:
1. Who will be in the GC lead after stage 49? (2 pts)
2. How many times will any of the jerseys change owner (1 pt per change, but a minimum of 2 pts awarded for a correct answer)
3. Will one of the teams with no wins get one (Euskaltel, Lampre, AG2R, Europcar, FDJ) (2 pts)
Jesleyh and Marcovdw both scored 4 points, which means that no one is still anywhere near beating Marcovdw in the overall standing.
The last round will cover both the last two weeks of the Vuelta.
1. Who will win the overall GC? (3 pts)
2. Who will win the Vuelta GC (after removing time differences from Tour and Giro)? (2 pts)
3. Will Nibali win more than one jersey overall? (2 pts)
4 How many "new" stage winners will we get? (2 pts)
5. Will the final GC podium feature someone else than the current podium?
6. Will Gesink make his way into the GC top 10? (2 pts)
Answers to be PM'ed to me. Everyone is still more than welcome to join and make a bid for the last round - can it really be that no one is able to score more points than Marcovdw on any round??

Great to see this still alive, Cavendish really seems to be struggling in the last sprint stages, Sagan now even can close up in the points classifications in the next stages |

Nibali has probably won this with Contador in 2nd then it,s down to the two Brits, which I like how you have done a Sky Wiggins and a Sky Froome. but the top 10 is dominated by the Spanish riders.

sutty: That he is. To be honest I had it down as a competition between Cav and Nibali, but Sagan could actually have a chance now.
Bikex: It had a good long rest and is now fresh as ever
Marcovdw: Well to begin with you answered everything correctly in the first few rounds. Now you have started making mistakes, but so does everyone else...
MrTeamSky: I wouldn't completely rule out Contador with the Nationality bonus, but we'll see how things pan out. The only way to be sure neither Wiggins nor Froome would end up helpin the other was to split them up. Almost seems more realistic as well
