Thanks for showing support. Smile

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes

Back home in France for another shorter stage race. Four pure sprinter stages plus a longish time trial is what's on the menu, so the climbers probably wont enjoy their visit much. Will be interesting to see whether the overall is decided on bonus seconds or in the time trial.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_01.png

With a time trial possibly deciding the outcome of the race, Paillot will take on the team captain role - something new for him. His development throughout the season has really strengthened his timetrialling. Could go well for him here.

In the sprints, it's Evaldas who leads the way - as usual. Skujins and Koretzky will take any opportunity that shows up, but will probably just enjoy an easy race for once. The profiles don't really allow them any chances.

Serebryakov was very strong in Limousin, and has most likely carried his form to here. He'll be tough to take on in the sprints. The overall will be hard to predict though. Perhaps Christophe Kern can do something thanks to a combination of strong TTing and home soil bonus?

@ Ian - I've started to love him as well during the season! I'll follow him irl next year as well, to see if he can win a few races there as well. Grin

@ Freitas - Would be cool for sure! You'll find out soonish. Smile

@ sutty / Ian / maxime - I think my screen is 27". Not sure, but it's somewhere around there.

Not sure whether the next report will be up tonight. I've got another math test coming up next week, so I'm studying a lot at the moment. The next update should be here by tomorrow at latest. Wink

Best of luck in the sprint with Evaldas

Great story Pelli, I've not done reading all of it yet(only the first 3 pages or so). Have you given away your Db, because I would like to play with a little better pool of Continental teams, since it's too easy to get promoted even when you're simming a whole season Smile

Pellizotti2
I can assure you; I'm taking all the time I need to prepare for the exam. Just a few days left anyway, so report speed should be back to normal soon. Wink

@ whitejersey - Here's a link: https://www.mediafire.com/?uoid4xg1207...xg1207g2zm

It's based on the Daily DB, so you obviously need to have that downloaded.

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes - stage 1

It's all about the sprint today, so we jump straight to the end of the day. Evaldas positions himself meticulously as the final leadout starts to build up, and eventually finds himself exactly where we wanted - behind Serebryakov.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_03.jpg
Evaldas takes place behind the forming TT1 train.

Strong crosswinds in the final kilometers messes things up completely for us. Evaldas gets caught behind riders going backwards and falls off the back of the TT1 line of riders.

The American team obviously continue however, and Serebryakov eventually makes his move just outside the kilometer flag. Gaps open up behind, with Evaldas desperately trying to make it back to the front.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_04.jpg
Serebryakov, Van Poppel and Goddaert launching clear.

The late crosswinds clearly took a toll on everyone. As it turns out, nobody finds the legs to overtake Serebryakov. Absolutely knackered from the long sprint, he hits the line - netting yet another win!

The only one with a little bit of juice left in the end; Koen De Kort, subdues Goddaert in the final meters, but can't quite make it back to Van Poppel. A whacked Evaldas crosses the line in fifth, simply missing the legs today.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_05.jpg
They simply can't match Serebryakov!

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes - stage 2

Representing us in the primary breakaway: Koretzky! Realizing that it will be impossible to catch the sprinters off guard, we decide to let him focus on intermediate sprint bonus seconds instead.

Not even a (-5) daily form can stop him from successfully snatching 20 valuable seconds before dropping back into the field in the final kilometers.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_06.jpg
Koretzky being brought back after a day in the break.

With the opening stage's runner-up; Van Poppel, seeking revenge, UnitedHealthcare leads things out from the front inside the final three ks. TT1 with Sere follow just meters behind though, with Evaldas tagging on as well.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_07.jpg
Day kicks it off for Van Poppel.

Van Poppel throws the perfect help away however, staying behind his team mate Day for too long. Sere on the other hand continues to shine, once again impressively powering into the lead at the kilometer mark.

Evaldas is forced to really grit his teeth, but manages to follow the storming stream of power. Several others also start to accelerate though, turning this into a real close battle!

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_08.jpg
Bye, bye, Van Poppel!

Evaldas gains half a wheel in the last 50 meters or so, but Sere is simply too powerful for him. Van Poppel makes up for his mistake in the end, sprinting his way up to third with sick speed. After the finish line he hits the bars in anger, knowing that he could've really challenged today.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_09.jpg

2.1: Tour du Poitou Charentes - stage 3

Bad luck strikes at a crucial time, shoving Evaldas off Sere's wheel with just four ks left. After getting blocked for a few seconds, he eventually finds his way back up, unfortunately forced to relocate to De Kort's wheel - further back.

UnitedHealthcare and Landbouwkrediet meanwhile launch the sprint from the front, setting things up for Stallaert and Van Poppel. Sere in a good position as well, in the first three rows.

i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l614/adamsellling/La%20Pomme%20Marseille/poi_10.jpg
Evaldas further back than ideal.

In the end, it's Sere who shows his capacity once again. Van Poppel and De Kort both move rather early, boxing in the man in yellow. However, the talented young Russian eventually bursts through - winning the stage easily.

Previous leadoutman Filippo Fortin makes TT1's day even better - finishing second behind his team mate in a strange sprint. Evaldas can't really do much from his weak starting position, and crosses the line in sixth.

Thanks to a ton of bonus seconds, Sere leads the GC by a whopping 40 seconds over Van Poppel. Looking pretty decent for us as well, with two names among the first six. The upcoming TT will probably shake this completely tho.

Thanks Pelli and ofc. I got the Daily Db Pfft ANd nice story and good job with Koretzky Smile

Race 2 was an excellent day!
Though it makes you wonder, maybe he would've won if he hadn't lost energy on the intermediate attack! But then again, you had to take your chances Smile
