Wow, such a tight finish. Coquard came from way back and missed out by a few centimetres.
Houle takes 4th for Canada

It was. Poor positioning and/or lack of support, or maybe he just struggled on the Cauberg ? |

Maybe there will be a surprising winner in the Elite race tomorrow. |

Indeed, he gained back like 2 bike lengths there! Just a bit short to get the win.

Well going by this result it is not inconceivable that Freire could win it again.

Coquard beat Viviani in the Omnium Elimination race at the Olympics, so he has shown again today that he has a fast finish
Lutsenko only turned 20 2 weeks ago!

He finished over 2 minutes down, so something must have gone wrong - and I see a few Italians - including Cattaneo - also finished some minutes down, surprisngly.

Ah, OK. Tipped him as one of the favourites, but I never saw him in the finale. Thanks!

I reckon Fred Grappe (FDJeux trainer, Watts specialist, etc.) is getting a little carried away by Bryan Coquard's performance. He's wondering, on twitter, if Coquard is not going to be the Next BIG Puncher for France in the coming years, possibly able to match the likes of Rodriguez, Valverde, Gilbert.
I think it's too early to make such claims. I've no idea how much Coquard can achieve, but the little I've seen from him doesn't make him look like the aforementioned riders. |

WTF. I see the French talent grinder is already running. Poor Coquard.

Much more likely to be a sprinter than a puncheur imo. Took a victory and two second places in the Sprinter's U23 stage race Tour de Berlin earlier in the year
