Sutty, Thanks
Baseball, I'll try to edit transfers more that way, but I can't edit every rider's transfer because there are too many |

Dear followers of this story,
First of all, thank you very much for following, it's been a great challenge for me so far and you make it that great
Secondly, I've heard some people refer to this story as "Eric & Stijn", so I thought I should maybe change the thread title. So I've set up a poll.
I'm referring you to this thread for any comments or for the votes

Thanks in advance! |

GP Jef-Scherens
Well, here we are: the final race of the season. It's mostly flat with some cobbled sections near the end, so it shouldn't come down to a mass sprint. However, with people like Cavendish, Renshaw and Blythe at the start, you know some teams count on it. Since it's the last race of the season for me (I'm not selected for WC), I'll be glad to do a detailed report.
Our trainee Roeland Van Hende slipped away in the morning breakaway, he's got a promising looking future!
Then it was waiting, waiting for the cobblestones. The first time (we had to ride the same cobbled sections 4 times) the peloton took them easy. I didn't want to go to the sprint with Cavendish, so I opened the race the second time we crossed them.
And what a beautiful surprise, Van Hende was still hanging in there, waited for me and then started riding like a madman, this is great!
We got joined by Leezer, Löfkvist, Scheirlinckx and Stannard.
Stannard, who'll be joining us, gives a mighty fine impression and is the first one to attack, what a rider! I'm already looking forward to riding with him.
This time I didn't make the mistake from RvV. See how much I've grown during this first season. Now I make the race along with the others, I don't just wait.
A sprint with a small group, that's something I like! However, I'm extremely tired and I remain in Stannard's wheel a bit too long for my liking.
Entering the final meters I think: "Get out now, dumb ass!"
So I did, I pulled all my energy, my strength, my will together and rode past Stannard.
Scheirlinckx didn't see it coming. I won!
Debusschere rode excellent and finished 11th, very strong. While Van Hende has already proven himself worthy! He'll make a great domestique next year! We also couldn't help noticing Stannard, he's looking great and we're happy to have him in the team next season.

So this was my final race, Eric still has 2 races coming up. But it isn't goodbye, the season isn't over when the last race is finished.
See you later! |

Vuelta a España - Stage 15
I'll be leaving for Canada soon, but right now I'm following the Vuelta on tv, and you won't believe what Jurgen did in the 15th stage: he won! It was a mountainous stage.
Result
1 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto-Belisol | 5h07'30 | IanButler | 2 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 3 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | | 4 | Juan José Cobo Acebo | Movistar Team | + 26 | | 5 | Hubert Dupont | Ag2r La Mondiale | s.t. | | 6 | Joaquin Rodriguez | Katusha Team | + 1'09 | | 7 | Igor Anton | Euskaltel Euskadi | + 1'40 | | 8 | Beñat Intxausti | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 9 | André Cardoso | Caja Rural | s.t. | | 10 | Daniel Martin | Team Garmin-Barracuda | + 2'01 | |
Now he has a stage win in both the Tour and the Vuelta, that's very impressive! He moves up to a second place in the GC as well!
GC
1 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo Bank | 57h09'24 | | 2 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto-Belisol | + 2'09 | IanButler | 3 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | + 2'25 | | 4 | Juan José Cobo Acebo | Movistar Team | + 4'55 | | 5 | Igor Anton | Euskaltel Euskadi | + 6'26 | | 6 | Joaquin Rodriguez | Katusha Team | + 7'21 | | 7 | Beñat Intxausti | Movistar Team | + 9'17 | | 8 | Haimar Zubeldia | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 9'23 | | 9 | Daniel Martin | Team Garmin-Barracuda | + 9'25 | | 10 | Francesco Masciarelli | Astana Pro Team | + 11'52 | | 11 | Bart De Clercq | Lotto-Belisol | + 12'52 | IanButler |
We are over halfway in the Vuelta, and notice how De Clerq's doing great, too! Jurgen could end 2nd but his season has already been a long one, I hope he holds on in the third week!
Let's all hope for him! |

GP de Québec
Well, we're in Canada, and it's good weather here, I didn't see that coming.
Don't let the profile fool you, it's classified as flat but there's one hell of a hill that has to be climbed many times.
The race went well, until the final lap. I was positioned at the front, giving Jelle Vanendert cover (he'd try a late attack), when a Sky rider bumped his front wheel against my back wheel.
I stood up quickly and nothing would've been lost, had it not been for a strong Cancellara, who attacked, I wasn't at the front yet, neither was Jelle.
Cancellara won, deservedly. Jelle Vanendert had great legs and escaped from the peloton, using me to get away. To my surprise, I stayed in front of the peloton myself and ended up on an 8th place!
Result

Hopefully Jelle can keep this great form and finish it off in Montréal! |

Vuelta a España - Review
The Vuelta came to an end, and it was a great one for the home team. Jurgen was able to keep his 2nd place! In fact, I think Belgium can look back on an extremely good season. Gilbert with his wins in the classics, De Gendt with his Giro d'Italia and last but not least, Jurgen Van Den Broeck getting 2nd in TDF and in the Vuelta!
GC

Well, one thing's for sure: Contador is back in business. He saved his team from degrading to ProConti and he did it single handed, what a rider!
Today Eric finished his final race, I think he'll blog about it later today! |

GP de Montréal
Well, this ought to be good. Since it's my last race day, I'm extra motivated. Let's get Jelle that first win of the season! He's 6th in the UCI ranking but hasn't won a single race yet. Today we wanted to change that.
On the one before last climb, I attacked. Don't worry, it was our tactic, I wasn't screwing Jelle.
Some followed, like Nibali, Andy Schleck, Leukemans... And, in the descent, Nibali tried his luck. As he passed me by, he said: "Nice" real quick before disappearing behind the turn. I don't know what he meant, possibly my attack, I sure hope so.
Leukemans, Andy Schleck and I caught him right before the final climb. A group of 12 was chasing us, Jelle was among them.
Unfortunately, I got dropped on the climb. Unable to follow the fast pace, I rode my own pace and waited for Jelle.
Luckily I didn't waste all my energy on trying to latch on to Nibali, for the group of 12 caught them and we were going to a sprint with 15. I had energy enough to launch Jelle into history!
But Leukemans was just a bit stronger today, what a bummer for Jelle! How many 2nd places did he have to take this season, how many wins did he just missed, it's unfortunate.
I finished a nice 12th place and end my season well, serving the team.
Result
1 | Björn Leukemans | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | 5h49'03 | | 2 | Jelle Vanendert | Lotto-Belisol | s.t. | IanButler | 3 | Matti Breschel | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | | 4 | Christophe Le Mével | Team Garmin-Barracuda | s.t. | | 5 | Andy Schleck | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 6 | Roman Kreuziger | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | | 7 | Kevin Seeldraeyers | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | | 8 | Pieter Weening | Orica-GreenEDGE | s.t. | | 9 | Vincenzo Nibali | Liquigas-Cannondale | s.t. | | 10 | Thomas Löfkvist | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | | 11 | Ryder Hesjedal | Team Garmin-Barracuda | s.t. | | 12 | Eric Lombaerts | Lotto-Belisol | s.t. | IanButler | 13 | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | | 14 | José Herrada | Movistar Team | s.t. | | 15 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ-BigMat | s.t. | | 16 | Tony Martin | Omega Pharma-Quick-Step Cycling Team | + 39 | | 17 | Fabian Cancellara | Radioshack Nissan Trek | + 3'41 | | 18 | Lucas Euser | SpiderTech powered by C10 | s.t. | | 19 | Andreas Klöden | Radioshack Nissan Trek | s.t. | | 20 | Diego Ulissi | Lampre-ISD | s.t. |
Well, that was the final race of the season. The next few reports will be about the World Championships, the end of the season (+UCI rankings) and then we'll have to start thinking about our schedule for next year!
Most of all, we hope you'll be there with us! |
