It was a quiet day for us until the final kilometre where we managed to deliver Tyler to a third placed finish which enabled him to move up to second on the General Classification.
Also tomorrow Joseph Dombrowski will be the proud wearer of the Best young rider jersey

With him struggling for form at the moment Van Garderen/Team Novo Nordisk decides to go in the breakaway today along with Klier/Garmin-Sharp and Winstead/AirGas, Hanson/Team Optum was also with them but has dropped off the pace a little

The leaders still have over four minutes on the peleton

Van Garderen is now on the long descent to the finish in Clovis and has already managed to open up a minutes advantage on his fellow escapees

The peleton have now stepped on the gas to try and reel the breakaways in on this long descent

All of the break is now safely back in the peleton and its Van Garderens team who are setting the pace

Bobridge/Team Novo Nordisk has managed to get himself to the front of the race

Pate/Sky Procycling and Navardauskas/Garmin-Sharp try to surprise the sprinters teams by launching an attack

But they get caught off guard themselves by Grivko/Astana who hits the final kilometre in first place

And its the Astana rider who celebrates at the line

Its mixed emotions for me today, firstly i see Tyler Farrar finish in sixth place and to be second on the GC, but then i witnessed Tejay ride well in the break only to finish last on the stage and now languish in 124th place at over 31minutes behind

Well it was inevitable that Farrar would lose his place on the GC but he won't be too dis-heartened to drop to 15th, but on the plus side we now have Dombrowski and Craddock to fight for honours

A group of seven riders have managed to establish themselves a good advantage of over six minutes on this tough day, they are Rincon/EPM-UNE, Wyss/BMC, Schildge/Jamis Hagens, Dennis/Garmin Sharp, Muravyev/Astana, Farrar/Team Novo Nordisk and Selander/Team Optum

Ballan/BMC has already dropped out of the peleton and will spend the rest of the day chasing alone

The break was finally caught just before the twenty kilometres to go banner and almost immediately Deignan/UnitedHealthcare attacked

The pace has certainly gone up as we enter the business end of the race

Yesterday's stage winner Kessiakoff/Astana makes his bid for freedom

He has 16s on a chase group of twelve riders

But he holds on to grab his second stage on the bounce

We may not have won today but thee things made me happy, Dombrowski gained back 43s on the GC, Farrar finished 12th on aa uphill finish and Van Garderen finished 7th on the stage and in doing so jumped up 29 places on the GC

Van Garderen/Team Novo Nordisk has gone clear on his own to earn valuable mountain points

He has a lead of 3m 17s to a handful of chasers and over 6m back to the peleton

There are now nine chasers at 4m 33s, they are Lloyd/Lampre Merida, Anthony/Team Optum, Howes/Garmin-Sharp, Sabatini/Cannondale, Huffman/Astana, Pinkham/Jamis Hagens, Piamonte/EPM-UNE, Burghardt/BMC and De Maar/UnitedHealthcare

The peleton only consists of 36 riders due to the number of smaller groups scattered on the route

The chasing group are now within a minute of catching him

Van Garderen has now been caught and passed by the chasing group and is now trying to stay with the second group on the road

A group of nine riders which contains second placed Horner/Radioshack Leopard has gone clear at the front of the race

Kessiakoff/Astana hits the front

But he gets beaten to the line by Horner/Radioshack-Leopard who stops him from winning three in a row
