French Cycling Federation to launch a new team in 2015 or 2016, which will also include MTB, Cyclo-Cross, Women and Track next to Road Race. Still looking for a major sponsor.

Pretty great that such a big project, hopefully it will the light of the day. It was described as "french Team Sky" though.. I'd love for something similiar in Germany, Austria or Italy to happen.

Aiming for a World Tour team to be part of base for the project (hence the Team Sky thing)...

I can see the point for Britain, which had many riders but lacked a structure.
For the French ok in general, but for pro road cycling ? It's not like there's already 3 Pro/World Tour teams, and a couple of pro conti ones.
Plus the teams were quite unhappy when they learnt about this a couple of months ago, as they got the information the press. |

Well, I've already been wrongly accused of nationalism and homophobia here, I guess nazism is the just the next step. Just need to state some anti-democratic, anti-liberal, anti-socialist, militaristic, racist and corporatist opinions first. |

This post and a few others by Miguel98 came to mind today after I talked with a frind of the family who shall we say has been a key staff member with the national team and some major clubs not only here but also in national champions of two major european leagues.
One of his lines that stuck with me was "If you refuse to dope there is no team that won't get rid of you immediately".
I followed that with 'tell me, is it like other sports where if someone comes out in public and tells it like it is they'll never get another job in football again?'
He had a two word answer. 'Of course'
