Our squad
Björn Arvid will be a domestique here. No more than that.
Jonas Ek seems to be in a good shape. He'll probably be our leader for today.
Kristian Hammarling has been brought here in case the cobbles don't cause big splits.
Fatbardh Haxhi will be either main domestique or co-leader. The Albanian has a good sprint coming with his cobbles.
Simon Holt will be another real domestique here.
Heiko Kalichmann is not really a cobbler either. Therefore a domestique for the first part as well.
Khieu Tet Khamphan got an excellent result in the GP Pino Cerami. He'll try to beat that performance.
Peter Pal is an excellent rider on the flat. That's why he will help in the first part of the race.

The favourites
*****Ian Wilkinson
****Fred Rodriguez
***Jasper Stuyven
**Nikolai Trussov
*Jonas Ek

Race report

8 riders make the break. Arredondo seems the most important name, but he as well will struggle on the cobbles.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0752_zps86a8d1f8.jpg

With 139km to go we already hit the first cobbled section.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0753_zps8af994ba.jpg

We make a big leap now. With 50kms to go Bontrager is kicking the pace in the pack, causing the lead to drop to 2min38.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0754_zpse22e4e5d.jpg

On the final cobbled section it's still a gap for the break, but for how long?
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0755_zps92ef9902.jpg

Not for very long. With 9kms to go the break is reeled in. This clears the road for Jonas, who immediately attacks. Kristian meanwhile is charging up for the sprint.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0756_zpsebd5ce68.jpg

He unfortunately gets reeled in. This signals the mass sprint, with Rodriguez leading under the banner.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0757_zps918625e6.jpg

Which is enough for the American.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0758_zps0a45f239.jpg
He beats Drujon and Drujon for the podium. Fatbardh comes 4th, just beating Lampier. Hammarling coming 8th makes it 2 in the top-10 for us.

A nice little stage there. Nice try by Jonas and .. a super result by Fatbardh. www.sherv.net/cm/emo/happy/thumbs-up.gif (Maybe Fatbardh could have attacked in the wheel of Jonas?) Wink

Great race by Fatbardh and Kristian. Team came good over the cobblestones and they prove more and more that they are a team for all terrain. Wink

@The Rider: Unfortunately, Fatbardh had been pushed back a little, so that was impossible. Cobbles closer to the finish and we could have tried like in le Triptyque.
@Ollfardh: Could it be a curse?Frown
@sutty: Yes. Unfortunately not good enough for the podium though.
@Shonak: Yeah. It seems like Vacansoleil missed a big opportunity with all the potential here. Hopefully a new sponsor does see the potential.

Our squad:
Björn Arvid already proved to be quite useful in England. Now it's pure flat, but he will most likely still be a domestique.
Jonas Ek is good on the flat, which is why he is here to support as well.
Kristian Hammarling is the sprinter for today. With the route being flat he is likely to have the biggest chance of a good result for us.
Khieu Tet Khamphan is a solid domestique for the flat race as well.
Peter Pal is an excellent rider for the flat roads. He might give it a shot in the final. Otherwise he is going to carry the sprint train.
Taeke Roorda is also here for support on the flat. The time trialist is most likely a rider for protection here.
Ásgeirr Silferberg is another domestique for the flat. It seems our squad is well prepared here.
Djaja Susanto will be important in the sprint train of Kristian. He's probably one of the last lead-out persons.

Weather
Although it's dry, it's very windy. It might cause trouble to some riders.

Race report

The break consists of only 2 riders today: Silva (LA-Antarte) and Pereira (BIC)
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0763_zps57e6c0cd.jpg

Bad luck for us. Peter gets a puncture. Luckily he remains in the pack.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0764_zps90013345.jpg

With approximately 80kms to go the wind is increasing. We now go to the front and try to set up some echelons.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0765_zps012e8e31.jpg

Only 8kms later this is what happens:
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0766_zps1e528753.jpg

With 45kms to go the wind is dying a little. Rabobank now sets a high pace, not in the last place because of an attack of Klostergaard.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0767_zps09ef8e11.jpg

The high pace causes Klostergaard to be reeled in with 30kms to go. With 18kms to go the 2 Portuguese are reeled in as well.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0768_zps5945c36d.jpg

With 15kms to go Pedersen attacks.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0769_zps0e1cb1dc.jpg

With 5kms to go his lead is 32 seconds. Can he surprise?
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0770_zps2cc8b0c9.jpg

Under the banner the lead is very small, but it's still there.
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0771_zps23712b74.jpg

At the finish
i1297.photobucket.com/albums/ag31/Selwink/Projob%20odfjell/PCM0772_zps8bdbe369.jpg
Kristian edges out all other riders. Pedersen will be very angry, as he came extremely close. He even falls off the podium, which is completed by McNally and Zabel. Peter comes in 7th, to make this a perfect day for us. Honorable mention goes to Djaja, who took off 20 seconds of Pedersen's lead and managed to come 11th himself.

I'm here with hopefully the next rising star of cycling: Johnnie Flodder. Hi Johnnie, how are you?
I'm feeling great of course. The season has been going really well for the team and for myself as well. There's a few beautiful dutch races coming up, so I'm close to my best shape. Let's hope our winning mood can continue.

Sutty68 is interested in your aims for the remainder of the season. Could you tell us a little more about that?
I want to win again of course. Once you win, you can't stop! I'm especialy looking for a win in Holland, the fans are just great here. And well, have you looked at the Continental rankings? I'm not that far away from the top 3, so that's another thing I might aim for.

Some aren't only interested in your personal goals, but also in the team goals. Do you have any information for us about that?
Well, at the moment there's a lot of confusion about our mother team of course, but it shouldn't affect us. Our goal should always be to get good results with the young team we have. If we can do that, we don't have to worry about what else happens.

After your excellent results this spring you are already linked to Vacansoleil as a trainee starting from August. How realistic do you consider these rumours?
As I said, at the moment I can't really say much about a team that will disappear soon. My contract has the option to become a trainee with Vacansoleil, not with a new team. I hope everyone understand that should the team move to China or something, I'm not joining. So I don't want to make any statement about this before I've spoken to my lawyer.

Jesleyh wants to know whether you are planning to stay with us or do you want to go higher.
I do want to get higher up, but as I said in the previous question, it needs to be with the right team. At the moment, I'm very happy at Projob-Odfjell. I have great team mates, both personaly and professionaly. They're good guys and they know how to set up a sprint train. I definitely would not mind finishing the season here, but if the right oppurtunity comes along in august, I'm not going to say no.

He would also like to know something about your potential. Do you see yourself winning stages in the World Tour later on?
I've defeated a few world tour sprinters already, so why not? If you don't think you can win a race, why bother becoming a sprinter at all? But of course, I'm not there yet. I feel that in time I might get there, if all goes well. It would be very nice if the team would get a wildcard for the Eneco Tour so I can already get some experience this year.

Jaxika wants to know your favourite World Tour team. Could you tell us?

I've always liked Euskaltel, but I guess with my mountain capibilities, the odds of joining them will be very low!

Credits to all who sent questions and a special thanks to Ollfardh to make the effort of answering all these questions.
