What happens to Rabo Development guys?

He's not afraid of descents, but high speeds - that's why when it's wet = slower he doesn't have problems staying in front of the peleton.
If you're afraid of high speed, why be part of a racing sport...

Pinot is missing TdF? Is it because of the cobbles, Quintana was afraid of them the most iirc but was Pinot too? But if he's afraid to descend then riding cobbles might be scary too.
Nah, he wants to do something else, that was announced before the TDF route was revealed (although it was known there'd be cobbles).
Giro and Vuelta routes probably suit him better, more MTF, etc.
Also, it's hard to imagine the pressure that's being put on French prospects by the media, and the somewhat devastating effect it has on riders.
"The new Bernard Hinault" is a nickname that has done its share of damages on riders...
To be hones it's not just French riders that get stuck with such pressures. (although i do imagine they are huge!) It happens with most national sports across the world.
Every single England team must win the World Cup. Every tennis player must win Wimbledon.
And until very recently (2007-2008) every cyclist must be the new Simpson. This last one almost ruined Boardman, pretty much ruined Millar and certainly did damage to countless others. I cannot imagine the pressures on French riders...

They should rename it "Velo d'Oh-my-frickin-God-are-you-kidding-me".
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

Yeah, the Argos thing made me really curious.
They are probably bought out by an other sponsor, which makes me think this is something big.
I guess the chances of it staying Dutch are quite slim. I have the feeling it might get German.
Edit: It might be TVM(verzekeringen) as well, both a link to Giant, and TVM stops sponsoring Ice Skating at the Winter Games of 2014.

It wasn't the Ryder stuff that got me it was this:
Rasmussen claims he was positive for blood doping in the TDF 2005. Geert Leinders and Mario Zorzoli had a meeting about it on the first rest day and Rasmussen could stay in the TDF because Rabobank was a big name in the TDF and they had done a lot for cycling. Rasmussen claims Leinders said the UCI were hypocrits. Rasmussen claims he did indeed use blood doping during the 2005TDF. Being afraid of the French doping authorities it was arranged that Leinders met a courier at Karlsruhe trainstation to collect a bloodbag meant for Rasmussen. The day after the rest day Rasmussen met Armstrong at the start of the next stage and Armstrong asked Rasmussen; what did you eat yesterday and Rasmussen replied: Probably the same as you did.

Imo it isn't possible to win a GT while being clean, Hesjedal being no exception. I wonder what Vaughters will say about it. It is quite a blame for "clean team" Garmin. |

Well he better confesses now that he used epo as a mountainbiker. If he gets a six month suspension now he still has time left to focus on giro/tour 2014. |

Clever move by Ryder that one. Using the Armstrong tactic (well i'm sure others have used it but Lance is first to mind) of admitting to things beyond Statute of Limitations. Gives virtually no power to the authorities about those dates. Also gets the general public on side who will now think that was all his doping.
I read it as that he has doped since, as is cleverly shifting the focus away for a time, as well as protecting his current team.
Well i say that, i hope he's clean as i really like him. Good on you Ryder

Ok, but Dubai Tour? What are they going to do? They have money right? Are they going to buy Alpe d'Huez and Mont Ventoux from France? |

He'll say the same he's said with several others: 'I knew he was doping before he joined, I made clear he could only join if he played fair from now on, I'm confident he rode clean for us'
It's in no way any different from Vande Velde, Danielson, Nuyens, etc.
Vaughters' philosophy is that you can't find almost anyone who wasn't involved in doping before, and that everyone deserves a second chance, so he tells any possible signings that he doesn't care what they did before, what matters is what they do from the moment they join.
We knew this befor.
The real question is, did Hesjedal dope at Garmin?
Absolutely this. This isn't a surprise, Garmin has been a home to (hopefully) ex dopers who have regretted it and have wanted a way out. Nothing is certain but Garmin have had some more big results this season and that to me is a cause for hope. |
