I always thought that Hamilton was better than Massa in the rain? |

The Ferrari had a problem warming tires that made it very hard to drive in the rain or in cool conditions. Or even normally.
Now that it's been fixed, the truth is out there for all to see.

Bourdais didn't manage to get his car started on the "practice lap" or whatever it's called. But in the end, he succeded and will start last.
It's soooo rainy. |

German forums are going nuts at the moment
Sebastian Vettel with a start/finish win
And as every time : That must be a world champion (in the german opinion , even at 1 race at Fuji and Shanghai)
I think it too but at that moment because that was a world class race , every world champion shows sometimes a world class race or something you must have as a world champion (like Hamilton with his car driving when he is passing , let just a little space etc.)
Heidfeld must be annoyed , he has a better car and Vettel wins before him XD |

It's soooo rainy. Sad thing is that Bourdais had fuel for about 4 more laps, and was often as fast as Vettel (when he wasn't stuck in the traffic) today.
Unfortunately if he doesn't get good enough results Toro Rosso won't keep him for next season.
1. Kimi Räikkönen - Ferrari – 1’28.047 – 53ème tour
2. Sébastien Bourdais – Toro Rosso Ferrari – 1’29.258 – 52ème tour
3. Mark Webber - Red Bull Renault – 1’29.681 – 52ème tour
4. Felipe Massa - Ferrari – 1’29.696 – 52ème tour
5. Lewis Hamilton – McLaren Mercedes – 1’29.721 – 52ème tour
6. Nick Heidfeld - BMW Sauber – 1’29.807 – 53ème tour
7. Jenson Button - Honda – 1’29.827 – 52ème tour
8. Timo Glock - Toyota – 1’29.948 – 53ème tour
9. Fernando Alonso - Renault – 1’29.961 – 51ème tour
10. Nico Rosberg – Williams Toyota – 1’30.019 – 53ème tour
11. Kazuki Nakajima – Williams Toyota – 1’30.215 – 53ème tour
12. Robert Kubica - BMW Sauber – 1’30.298 – 52ème tour
13. Heikki Kovalainen – McLaren Mercedes – 1’30.300 – 53ème tour
14. Sebastian Vettel – Toro Rosso Ferrari – 1’30.510 – 53ème tour
15. Jarno Trulli - Toyota – 1’30.853 – 52ème tour
16. Nelsinho Piquet - Renault – 1’30.918 – 53ème tour
17. David Coulthard - Red Bull Renault – 1’32.459 – 49ème tour
18. Adrian Sutil - Force India Ferrari – 1’33.458 – 51ème tour
19. Rubens Barrichello - Honda – 1’33.918 – 42ème tour
20. Giancarlo Fisichella - Force India Ferrari – 1’37.304 – 6ème tour
It seems Alonso is on the verge of signing a two years contract with BMW, where he'll take Heidfeld's position.
So, Renault would have Piquet Jr + Grosjean next season (ZOMG Briatore humiliated : a French pilot), whereas if Alonso stayed (more and more unlikely) Renault would have Alonso + Di Grassi.

Yeah, very impressive win by Vettel.
It was fun listening to the team radio afterwards. "I'm speechless. Mile grazzie, mile grazzie" (spelling ...). They sounded so happy, the Toro Rosso guys. |

I've finally seen the race now. Huge clap for the genious that is Giorgio Ascanelli. The man is a true legend, and his decision to risk Vettel out on a 100% rain setup was a huge gamble that almost certainly would've seen Vettel in last. Instea, to the surprise of everyone, rain came out of nowhere and Vettel won. Brilliant, brilliant man, Ascanelli.
He spent his career working with all the top teams, with Senna, with Berger, then he retired. Now he comes back from retirement and does this...he's as good as ever, the man's a legend.
EDIT: The turnaround of the team from bottom feeder to race winner has been gradual and started as soon as he joined. It was a nice moment seeing him crying with emotion at the end

It was a very spectaculous and entertaining race, I just love wet races, lots of drama and leader changes.
Vettel in wet conditions is just as good as Schumacher; I believe Vettel will be world champion one day. |

Although there are half a dozen of parameters you can toy with to get a rain setup, adding more wings is one of the most significant. Toro Rosso were definitely not on a 100 % rain setup, Bourdais wouldn't have gotten the second fastest lap in-race in the last lap on an almost dry circuit otherwise. |

Chris Horner said they had the cars in both extremes: Bourdais was going for dry, as was every other car except Vettel (the setups are decided before qualifying, at a time when everyone was sure rain was a remote possibility and cannot be changed again for the duration of the weekend)
I wouldn't trust Vettel, he's the same guy who "admitted" they had almost no fuel in the car despite the fact they pitted around the same time as everyone else.

Well, it's hard to know if he was right about the top speeds since they were never displayed during the race. In the "Temple of Speed" it's quite a shame...
Hamilton seemed to have a quite rainy setup too, he was very fast (with a low top speed in qualifying) under the rain, but could hardly overtake any more when it dried.
He's quite a dangerous driver too. |

No, because he pitted exactly when the commentators said he would, it's just that the other cars also had no fuel in thier tanks and hence also had to pit early.

He pitted on lap 19, that's pretty deep into the race. This is not 78 lap monaco.

yes but when the track is wet they use much less fuel and so can stay out for longer
