Ryan Eastman - Bontrager 2013 February
Ian Butler
I could help, too. I speak French quite decently Wink (but there are also some Frenchmen here, who could definitely help, I think Aquarius is French) Wink

roturn
Thanks both. But we already talked pretty decent via google translator. Wink
He`s looking over the stage again.

In worst case I need to replace the file for the 2nd stage, which I wouldn`t really like as it is an important stage in an important race.

In first news I decided to use the detailled simulation for the 2nd USA PCC stage. I wouldn`t have done this if it was the most important stage or if it was a Ryan Eastman race. In the end all favourites finished within the same group. Not sure if the 3D race would have lead to something different.

In second news I will present you the two new Belgium signings. Hopefully you like them as they fill our main gap and should take care for many good results.

ds1.ds.static.rtbf.be/article/square200/0/4/a/200_200_1f13b6588fc50f1c37c8f3f37bba859b-1344358270.jpg

Jens Keukeleire might be our biggest addition for the 2013 season. He rode for Orica Greenedge and won a stage in the Tour de Langkawi. But more notable were podium places in Helt Van Het Mergeland, Dwaars Door Vlaanderen and the GP Pino Cerami as also the participation in this years Giro d`Italia.
With only 23 years of age he brings in a lot of experience already and will be our sprint leader next season. He is capable to perform well in sprint finishes. But he also showed that he is capable to perform on lightly hilly and cobbled terrain. So we are happy to announce his signing as he wasn`t that happy by being a leadout only for his teammates.

www.cyclisme.ag2rlamondiale.fr/img/2012/coureurs/GODDAERT.jpg

Kristof Goddaert is a pretty similar rider. He just is a bit weaker in most areas. With 25 he is still not an old rider and we hope that he has some more room to improve.
His best result in 2012 was the 3rd in the GP de Plumelec-Morbihan and wasn`t able to get a stage win. Something he surely wants to get in the next season, where he will be our 2nd sprinter. Together we should have a good strength for the flat stages and also for the one day classics.

Goddaert and Keukeleire Shock
If they work together, one of them will be Belgian Champion next year Wink

Great, great signings Smile

Good that you like them. Belgium champion can be hard as Boonen, Gilbert... are still in my way. But I have definitely a chance in especially when Stuyven starts to improve.

Giro della Valle d’Aosta

Stage 2 - Megève - La Salle (138,9km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_3-1389.jpg

Only 140km but 3 very tough Cat.1 mountains between start and finish. Parker is our leader and has a good form. I will have to wait for the speed going up the climbs. I am really not a climber but seeing that there is a longer descent towards the finish gives me a bit hope.
The final again is harder than it looks on the first view as the last km is going uphill on a very steep ramp, so you must be concentrated to avoid any time loss there.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_4.jpg

4 riders in the early breakaway. Except for Botman (Koga), who is 7th in the overall with only 16s back all the others already lost 5min yesterday.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_6.jpg

Movistar CT and Androni do the pace in the peloton.
It will be interesting to see how first handle their situation now. Race leader Byron Guama de la Cruz is not the worst climber but will struggle against the best while Alarcon already lost too much probably to get a podium chance.
Munoz Giraldo would be their logical choice normally but at least today they seem to ride for the yellow jersey, who might even have a decent chance on such a finish.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_8.jpg

Several riders try an early attempt at the start of the last mountain.
Chernetski, Hiratsuka and Rabottini are within these.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_10.jpg

They are joined soon by Baliani and Goncalez Arribas and chase the breakaway now, while the peloton is not very quick as they seem to lower the pace for the yellow jersey.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_12.jpg

Time for De Buyst to use his last energy to chase down the breakaway, which has already a 2'43 gap. The peloton is down to 47 including Parker, Stuyven and myself as well.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_14.jpg

De Buyst really is not a climber and so the gap even went to 3'30 with 40km to go.
So it was my time to do the pace for Parker as the late attackers are really a danger for him of course.
We are half up the climb and luckily my legs are pretty good today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_16.jpg

Together with Stuyven I reduced the gap with every kilometer but still we weren`t able to catch them.
Still 1'40 with the ramp to climb.
It`s the perfect opportunity for Dale Parker to attack. He is looking back but nobody follows.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_18.jpg

Hiratsuka takes the win ahead of Rabottini and Baliani but Parker really gained time on the last kilometer and is not far behind definitely having a gap to the peloton.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_2_19.jpg

He finishes 9th at the same time with Oscar Pujol of the former breakaway and most important just 25s behind the stage winner. This looked far worse with 1km to go.
The peloton loses 21s on Parker and so there was no early decision today. But a first hand sight maybe.

I finished a bit behind the favourite group as I lost contact on the ramp but I am very happy with me today as I felt I could become a solid helper for Parker here, although the next stages won`t really become easier.
In general we had a bit of luck that Movistar CT lost Alarcon. Otherwise we could have expected a far higher speed I guess.

Haven't followed the Story-section for a while now. Just realized you are back with story Smile Nice choice with the DB. As I will check the daily-forum on "(extra plus) daily base" now in ManGame's offseason, I definitely have to check the best stories as well Smile

Thanks all for the comments.
@Valverde: Nah. It`s not the Man Game. Wink
@tsmoha: Great to see you around here again. Hope you will check this thread from time to time. And even more I hope to see a new story soon?

USA Pro Cycling Challenge

Stage 3 - Genisson - Aspin (199,6km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/USAPCC_3_1-1996.jpg

Maybe the hardest stage of this years edition. But it doesn`t look hard enough for big selections due to the very long descent towards the finish.
For Joe and Ian it`s still a very important stage as they don`t belong to the best time trialists and so they really need to gain time.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/USAPCC_3_2.jpg

Although we tried to create some gaps by sending Boswell to the front working for Joe, we weren`t successful. Also Joe`s attack during the last climb looked promising at first but he was caught again on the descent.
In the end there was still a group of ~25 riders sprinting for the win. Even race leader Milne was still there but it`s Frenchman El Fares winning today and also takes the leader jersey.

Giro della Valle d’Aosta

Stage 3 - La Salle - Valgrisenche (144,9km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_6-1449.jpg

The first half isn`t looking too hard but then 3 tough climbs with a mountain top finish in the end. And still it`s not the hardest stage yet in especially as the last few kilometers become less steep.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_7.jpg

6 riders in the early breakaway. None of them is a very big danger for the GC.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_10.jpg

Going up the first climb it`s climb it`s Farnese Vini at the front. Rabottini is 2nd overall right now and is best placed Italian.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_12.jpg

But a bit later it`s Parkhotel Valkenburg again giving everything to defend the leader jersey. 4'41 the gap at the moment.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_14.jpg

50km to go and still on the first climb when Alarcon attacks. The best climber in the peloton is already 17min down after his crash and surely suffers a bit since then. He is followed by Zanasca, Gonzalez Martinez and Walker.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_16.jpg

They already joined the group before the top and so it`s Alarcon collecting the maximum points here.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_18.jpg

27km to go and we start the next climb. Again Farnese is coming to the front and accelerates. The group of 11 has a 2'30 gap with 2 climbs to go.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_20.jpg

More attacks out of the peloton. Betancur, Zakarin, Serpa, Sella and Merino all prove to be very active today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_22.jpg

But they are brought back soon afterwards except for Betancur and Sella who are 30s and 60s ahead with Alarcon being another 2min ahead with some more riders of the former break in between.
I have another good day and was able to come over the top here as well in a reduced group of ~50 riders. So I am the last support for Parker and am going to the team car for some water bottles for the last time today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_25.jpg

Going into the final climb you can already see Betancur and Sella a bit ahead. They will be caught soon while Parker is still at the front with me covering him.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_27.jpg

But with 10km to go and the next big split it`s time for me to say goodbye. The group ahead is down to 25 and as I am not a climber at all this was the maximum.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_29.jpg

Parker is always riding within the first rows but as you can see he seems to struggle as he is touching his head a lot of time at the moment.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_31.jpg

But obviously he faked there. With 2,7km to go he attacks. Alarcon has a 1min gap for quite some time now and due to the lack of team support in most teams the pace was never very high in the end as Farnese did too much too early and Movistar CT surely waited as long as Alarcon is still ahead.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_33.jpg

2km to go and Parker is back in the group again right behind the Movistar duo Munoz Giraldo and de la Cruz.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_3_35.jpg

And Alarcon had no chance against the closer coming group. Still it looked like a Movistar win for a long time but then Zakarin and Codol really pressed the power button and take the first two places today.
Paker finishes within the group and won`t lose time today although it`s a bit disappointed as he was stronger than some of them but with the lack of mountain domestiques he had no chance today.

I finished within the next big group and am still performing pretty good here.

Parker is doing fairly good so far.

Yep, I think he can keep his top-10, maybe top-5. Smile

Ian Butler
Ryan was an excellent help for Parker. What a teamplayer Smile

I will check this thread for sure. One thing I can already say: great screens as always, especially in the latest report!

As for my story.. well.. thanks for hoping Pfft At the moment it's (more than) unlikely, as I didn't buy PCM12 and don't play PCM11 to continue Dark Dog, for example. We will see. First comes the ManGame and, of course, following stories from my favourites like you or Pelli Smile

sutty68
Nice to see Dale finish in that front group and enable himself to move up a place on the GC Smile

Thanks all. Parker indeed pretty well. Will consider to higher the extreme difficulty if I keep that great also in the next season. Right now I think it`S more the weaker continental teams, while the stronger like Endura have beaten me in the first half of the season a lot or Colombia, which are peaking compeltely different to me.
PCT should be far more difficult then.
@tsmoha: There will be PCM13 in half a year. I would also wait for this. Wink

Just like the 2nd stage also the 4th stage did not work properly for the USA PCC. But I found a very similar stage in the Tour of Taiwan. So it`s slightly different to the original but still a long mountain and a short climb to the finish.

USA Pro Cycling Challenge

Stage 4 - Beaver Creek (114,6km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/USAPCC_4_2-1146.jpg

This is another chance for Joe to create a gap to stronger time trialists before it`S too late. This years edition really favours the weaker climbers with a good shot against the clock. But we will have to try.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/USAPCC_4_3.jpg

The breakaway succeeded. Nate King wins in a great way as he was the strongest. In the peloton it kept pretty quiet until the final and very steep climb. Joe tried an attack there and had a small gap when the sprint started but it was not enough to get a time gap today. At least the group was totally destroyed and only 24 riders were counted the same time including also Boswell and Mannion.
El Fares will keep the overall lead but Dombrowski is now counted as 4th being the best of ~20 within the same time.

Giro della Valle d’Aosta

Stage 4 - Rivara - Rivara (149,4km)
i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_4_5-1494.jpg

The easiest stage here in Italy for sure. And still pretty hilly on this circuit. Time for the riders to relax a bit after all the climbs and as the next two are also mountain stages I think we could need it.
Actually this was the stage I was looking for as I wanted to try something here. But seeing that I am only less than 7min behind the 1st we should have better chances by sending someone else.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_4_6.jpg

A group of 5 including Atkins in the breakaway. None of them is a danger for the overall so they might get a chance today.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_4_8.jpg

But An Post thinks different. They might have a fast rider for this kind of terrain in Jonathan Bellis and obviously want the stage win as they don`t have a GC rider.
With 50km the gap is down to 3'10 and melting.

i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g434/Roturn1988/Eastman/Aosta_4_10.jpg

And indeed Bellis wins the 4th stage. Nobody was able to follow him on the slightly uphill sprint. Stuyven was totally exhausted as he had a weaker day today so Parker`s 13th is a good result as well.

My day was very calm. I got some water bottles late in the race but other than that I had not much to do.
