Come on, SN. Your posts always concern British riders, just like I freak out every time Rasmussen wins (well ..). It's normal - just accept it |

Yup.
Nice win by Velits, I read on Cyclingnews that it was 2-bike lengths. Thats pretty awesome!!
Good result for Wes Sulzberger too - how come no ProTour team has snapped him up yet?
Perhaps 3rd could make some teams be interested in Belli.s I think he only riders for a Britain team in Italy at the mo - and he is another Manx rider going well!
Does anyone know what happened to Ignatiev? I missed the race and I thought he could win it today - did he just try one of his trademark late attacks, which just didnt work this time?

he attacked on the flat just before the final climb, but couldn't get away, as everyone was watching him closely.
I was surprised at the Estonian rider. does anyone know who he rides for?

Looking through Cyclingnews' Live report, the only active estonian was: Rein Taaramae.
A bit of 'google research' tells me that he rides for RO Saint-Amandoise, which seams to be a small Estonian team.

I belivere this question is for me. He is great youngster...future rider mostly like TT.""grazy guy.." has junior team mates sayd..(he prefered in winter to stay home...and practising days and days with mountain bike and deep snow..).
Auber, Ag2r wanted him..but he signed with Cofidis.

BELLIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
great stuff for him to get 3rd, at such a young age as well, probably another stagaire for T-Mobile next year
very suprised that Velits won, but it's great for Slovakian cycling and for him obviously

I almost forgot about the amazing display by the Americans with strong a 29th and 30th places, respectively by Thomas Peterson and Craig Lewis. The future of USA. |

the only time I saw an american was when one was relaying for half a kilometer or so before the final climb. but if they did well, hey, more power to them.
Addy and Dan: thanks for a couple of laughs

I know 1 rider that attacked a lot, fought his way into the front, was boxed in at the end, avoided a crash and got 15th place, despite having no one to support him. So that's no excuse, it's the quality of the rider and his fighting spirit that matters. |

5 times to be precise. and with a name like that, either he turns into a winner or he's screwed.

Warning! This post is about Brits
We know Bellis got 3rd, but regarding Stannard and Swift:
Stannard:
The final lap was especially frantic and when a dangerous group clipped off the front, it was Ian Stannard who threw himself down a descent at the front of what was left of the peloton, got dropped and came back to finish his work at the front on the flat and is credited by one senior member of the GB team watching the race as having made the bunch sprint possible.
Swift:
“The second to last time up the steep climb I was in the front 15 again and I totally cramped in my thigh and hamstring and I managed to ride though it and then the last time up the steep climb I was actually feeling quite good and was again in the top 10, top 15. I thought I had got rid of the cramp and then on the final climb , about three quarters of the way up it, my left hamstring went and I couldn’t pedal.”
