He's the best climber of all who take part in the Vuelta, but apparently he suffered a severe gastroenteritis which caused him to lose a lot of weight and spoiled his preparation for the Vuelta. They were confident that he'd arrive in decent shape anyway, but it's quite clear that he didn't.

Moncoutie is impressive, good attack yesterday, and a strong attack today too. Would be nice to see him win a stage this year too. |
