I don't like S.Sánchez at all, but I'd be happy if he wins the Tour over that bunch of pussies.

Weren't you Spanish?

I still am.

So what's the reason of not liking him?

Should I like him because he happens to have the same passport as I do? I don't (usually) like what he says when he talks, I don't (usually) like how he rides, so that. It's not like I hate him or something, but I dislike him for these reasons.

Looks like the Schlecks are unwilling to choose between themselves at this stage. Quite a disappointment this stage really.

But a very nice win by Vanendert, class guy!

Apparently, Voeckler has climb Plateau de Beille 3'20" faster than the other time he was defending yellow. Looks like a believable difference, so I'm relieved.

Andy Schleck has a serious head problem

He just has to go even though it means his brother will be dropped.

What are you doing Andy ? For me it looked like he didn't attack with 100 %. Only because Fränk didn't have the best day ?!!! Now there comes the point where they have to decide with which card the play. They have to gain time on Evans. And I think Andy is able to gain time. Now I'm really looking forward to the Alps. Also Contador gets better from day to day. He is still in the race !!!!

Velits dissapointed me big time

Why? The whole HTC team has to work for Cav in the flat stages. It's only natural they can't cope with the best in mountains.

Well a 2 km relay at the end wouldn't hurt this much would it?
I expected him to be Top10 today he was fantastic at Vuelta so anything but top10 is a dissapointment

However long the effort he had to make in the flat stages it made a difference to riders like the Schlecks, Contador, etc. who, besides not having to make any effort for his team mates, were also protected by them.

You have to see that Velits and Martin were tiring themselves not only to help Cavendish, but also after that effort they had to hang on to a really fast moving peloton in every flat stage!

If you add that to the fact that Velits isn't really a top candidate you get why he doesn't show in the top10.

Who cares?

Rolland did a very interresting interview at the end, saying Voeckler told him when Rolland was in trouble, that even if you don't have an awesome potential, as long as you work as well as possible you can have incredible results. Voeckler tested himself in mountains quite a lot this year : 2nd stage of Trentin he won in front of Scarponi. Really awesome to see what he is capable of.

This yellow jersey brings you awesomness; Pfft

And what a fail by french commentators completely forgetting Uran for the white jersey, saying it would be between Rolland Jeanesson and Taaramae

That was nice to watch a whole day of racing.

I liked Basso's comments in his interview after the race. As you all know he is a steady climber, no great burst of speed to attack or counter, but can put a lot of steady pressure on for a long time - which he tried to do and it nearly worked - only Voekler sprinted back on, which made the others catch basso too.

Basso was asked what he thought of the Schleck's tactics. He said that they were not good, that you can't do short attacks and let 20 people get back on and then do another short attack. He said what they should have done is set a very hard pace for 4-5 KM and dropped more people THEN attacked HARD.

I think Leopard's tactics were well planned and badly executed. Partly Bad luck with Jens Voight's 2 falls meant he could not push hard for as long as he should have on the climb, and also bad execution 'cos Linus Gerdermann has already said he is not fully fir (bad back and bad hip ) and not climbing well so why send him forward to help on Plateau de Baie?

No Kreuziger in the break.. Velits is injured.. And Schlecks (at least Andy) are still waiting for something.. Cunego dropped.. At least Basso was quite good..

And that was really not the best stage to watch, especially when all leaders were still waiting for "something".. And only 2 stages + TT left now.. And as Evans looks quite good in mountains, I really don't know where Andy wants to gain at least one minute on Evans, Galibier isn't the hardest finish climb and gain all time on Alpe d'Huez.. I don't know.. And there is still great Thomas Voeckler.. He looks absolutely great in mountains, it will be really hard to drop him..

And an interresting fact : Voeckler climbed the Plateau de Beille only 30 seconds faster than in 2004 where he kept the yellow jersey.
Looks like anti-doping fight made quite serious progress Grin

Where did you get that? I read elsewhere that it was 3'20'' faster, but I don't know if that was actually reliable.

30" sounds more likely, given how stop start it was

And sorry to say that, but Vanendert looked for me a little bit weird. He won for the first time in his life and.. He almost didn't express any delight from his win.. It looks for me quite like he already counted with his win even before this stage started.. And when I look on his results from the past, it looks quite weird for me that he is one of the best climbers of this year's TdF.. Surely he was that big talent before 3 years or so? Rolling Eyes

Yeah, it kinda shocked me when I read it. We'll know soon anyway.
