@valverde: Yeah, I know. I am testing which ones I think looks best. I will use the latest ones in all reports from now, I really like them.
@Alakagom: It's nice for Zaugg, but I think he will drop down as soon as we reach the mountains.
20.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 12
Città Sant'Angelo > Porto Recanati: 190.0km
Zaugg went with the breakaway again today. This time he only got two companions: Honig (Acqua & Sapone) and Erviti (Movistar). They didn't get any big gap, though, and was brought back with 80 km left.
Quickly after the catch, Failli launched an attack. He didn't get any huge gap either, but 30 km from the line he was still 3'30 ahead. However, just for this once, some other teams helped us in the relays, which resulted in that Failli was caught just before the last hill.
Fränk decided to stretch the other's legs on the hill. As soon as he moved to the front, he got a small gap.
However, when the pack reached the top, Fränk was just 25 seconds ahead. We decided to call him back to help Bennati instead, as there was still some flat kilometres left.
Fränk did an amazing job for Bennati, who flew past 1.5 km from the line. Ginanni was trying to hold the Italian's wheel, while Gerdemann tried to stay on Ginanni's wheel. Most of the sprinters were tired after the hill, which favoured GC riders like Fränk and Gerdemann.
Bennati was far ahead the others, though, and the Italian took his fifth stage win in this Giro. He has really dominated the sprints here, but it might be hard for him to get the points jersey, as Fränk is just behind him in the points classification.

Thanks! Unfortunately, Alfredo Binda won 12 stages in 1927... Fränk will beat that as soon as we reach the mountains.

21.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 13
Porto Recanati > Cesenatico: 221.6km
On the second of the two hills, Fränk moved to the front and raised the pace. Only three riders were able to follow him: Scarponi, Van den Broeck and Bennati. At the KoM, they had a gap of 1'20.
The advantage decreased fast on the descent, though, and they were caught on the flat. However, most riders in the pack must have been tired, as Bennati easily won the stage ahead of Fischer and Schleck (!).

21.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 14
Spilimbergo > Großglockner: 166.9km
Once again, we sent Zaugg with the breakaway. He was joined by seven other riders. The most notable names were: Pluchkin (Katusha), Gustov (SaxoBank) and Sarmiento (Acqua & Sapone).
At the foot of the final climb, Sarmiento launched a strong attack. Zaugg, Gustov and Kozontchuk were chasing half a minute behind Sarmiento. The pack was still three minutes behind, so they still had a chance to fight for the stage win.
Zaugg had soon dropped his companions and caught up to Sarmiento. Still, no attacks in the peloton, which was only two minutes behind now.
Just as I said "no attacks", Pozzovivo attacked. Fränk decided to relax and wait for an attack from Scarponi or Van den Broeck. However, Pozzovivo was really strong and quickly built up a minute's advantage.
As Fränk realised how strong Pozzovivo was, he attacked. He caught up with the Italian in the final kilometer, but his strong attack had costed much energy. Unfortunately, Zaugg was caught with only 1.5km left.
Fränk was tired, but it was enough to outsprint Pozzovivo for another stage win. Zaugg grabbed the last podium spot, just ahead of Scarponi.

Wow. Win after win and also your helpers are great even if the start list is quite weak for a Giro.
Also Frank Schleck is doing things in the sprint he isn`t supposed to like out sprinting several sprinters...

@roturn: Thanks! All the team has done a great Giro.
@Alakagom: Unfortunately, he lost much time on the flat stages, when he worked for Bennati. He is currently 81st overall, 38 minutes down.

23.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 15
Mestre > Monte Zoncolan: 218.3km
Already on the penultimate climb, Passo Duron, Pozzovivo attacked. He is really strong at the moment, and he quickly got an advantage of over a minute.
At the foot of Zoncolan, he had caught the last escapie, Cherel. The pack was still over one minute behind. Was this going to be a victorious day for the Italian?
Not if you ask Scarponi, he powered away from the pack at the start of Zoncolan. Scarponi is too dangerous to let away, so Fränk raised his pace with the dot.
After many kilometres of solo riding, Fränk reached the leading duo. His huge effort costed much energy, though, so he was quite tired when he joined them. Behind them, there was a huge gap down to the next riders.
As I said, Fränk had wasted much energy on his chase. With just under 2 kilometres left, Scarponi dropped both Schleck and Pozzovivo. As Fränk was still tired, he had to fight just to stay on Pozzovivo's wheel.
Scarponi took a very deserved victory. He was the strongest today.
Half a minute later, Pozzovivo lead Fränk over the line. At least there was no big time loss to Scarponi.
A looooong time after that, Cunego crossed the line in fourth place. This was enough for him to move Gerdemann down to 6th overall.
Serpa took the 5th place, not far behind Cunego, while Gerdemann finished 6th, not far behind Serpa. No disaster, as he is still easily remaining in the top 10. Van den Broeck had a black day and was even behind Gerdemann today.

25.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 16
Mezzolombardo > Passo del Foscagno: 136.0km
Cunego was obviously feeling good today, as he decided to move clear already on the climb to Passo del Tonale. This was a brave move from the Italian, as there was still a long way to the finish.
At the foot of Passo di Gavia Cunego was brought back. Pires and Zaugg was relaying to keep the pace quite high. Only 60 riders had been able to stay in contact over Passo del Tonale.
Rohregger took over the pacemaking on the higher slopes of Gavia. Many riders lost contact with the pack. At the top only 25 riders had been able to stay with the group.
Just after the second intermediate sprint a Lampre rider crashed. First I didn't mind, but then I realised who it was. Damiano Cunego! This was a really bad time to crash, as the pace was really high in the front group.
Cunego must have had a great day, as he made it back to the front group just as the final climb started. I wonder how much energy he used up in the chase.
Obviously not very much. Fränk putted up a deadly pace which only three riders could follow. One of them was Cunego. The other two, Serpa and Scarponi was also looking quite fresh, as they had the energy to attack.
However, Fränk just kept his own pace and brought back the two attacekers. He did still feel really strong, so he raised the pace a bit more. That was too much for the others, and the Luxemburger created a small gap.
He did still held that gap under Flamme Rouge, despite multiple attacks from Scarponi. Cunego and Serpa followed not far behind Scarponi.
Another nice stage win for Fränk. The gap grew inside the final kilometer and he was given a gap of 47 seconds. Gerdemann finished 5th and Rohregger 14th, enough for him to move up to 10th overall.
Crash afterwards.
