Zabriskie is a great position so far. Is there another time trial in the end? I think Visconti and Gerrans are still beatable
Good luck for you! |

There is a timetrial, so they might be beatable. But the main problem is that the hardest stage on Bear Lake is still to ride. And there he will probably lose time to other favourites like Brajkovic, Kreuziger or Sanchez, who are also good in timetrial.
But haven`t played it yet. |

Well, you'll just have to do well in the TT then.
At least the Big Bear mountaon stage isn't too steep near the finish but just more of a gradual incline if i remember correctly. |

Will try it, report of this stage this evening or tomorrow as I have university from 1-8p.m and maybe even football in the cold snow outside afterwards, if the pitch is playable
Giro d'Italia - Stage 12
Venezia - Monte Zoncolan
Although there aren`t many mountains on the way to the Monte Zoncolan this stage will be a very interesting one. The final climb is extremely hard. 12,2km with an average of 9,6% and several parts with more than 12%.
Can Martin show us his great form again? He needs time to get a top 10 result.
4 riders attacked but none of them is a real climber. Hermans (RadioShack) is still the best with more than 30min back. Swift (Sky), Kunitski (Quickstep) and Berard (Ag2r) are the other 3.
Similar to the last days Lampre and Androni are doing most work although Liquigas has the leader. After a short wave the peloton was splitted. But except of Mollema all favourites were in the first group. 10km later everything was together again.
The first climb to Ortan. 10,9km with an average of 5,6%. It shouldn`t be a problem for most favourites but the sprinter might fall back.
The 3 Italian teams are leading the pack over the mountain.
The four riders in front are also splitted now. Just Hermans in the first group and the other 3 behind him together.
Just 2min now the advantage, so they will definitely be caught soon.
72 rider start the final climb on the narrow roads of Monte Zoncolan. Hermans jsut a few seconds ahead. Still 6 riders of our squad there. Martin, Stetina and Millar were expected and all of them are still trying to get a top 30 result. But also Duggan, Vandervelde and Meier are doing well today.
Still 8 km to go but we have to gain time on especially Evans, Van Garderen, Efimkin and some other riders. So Martin is the first, who accelerates.
Scarponi is the first, who follows him. Nibali and Basso are a few meters behind him. The other favourites can`t follow immediately. This is our chance now.
The group is together and Martin is still doing most work. Van Garderen is almost on their wheel, Efimkin, Pozzovivo and Seeldraeyers are the next group.
Although Martin was able to create a very small gap he was oversprinted by the better climbers. So Nibali with another win. Who else but him should win a mountain stage in this Giro. Who else but him should win this Giro. I think the podium is clear now, just the order might still change between Scarponi and Basso. Martin is now in the top 10 and he doesn`t want to get out of it again.
But he still wants a win and next big chance might be the Plan de Corones.
He is definitely one of the strongest climbers in the stages without too many mountains.

Thanks all.
Hope I can let him in top 10 now. Still need a bit time on some riders behind me for the long timetrial. But looks quite good now. Hope to stay in front group on up and down stages with many mountains, too.
Will play and report the next stages today. |

Tour of California - Stage 6
Palmdale - Big Bear Lake
This is definitely the hardest stage by far in this race. 5000 climbing meters of height. It will be hard for our riders to compete with the best climbers here like the Schlecks, Sanchez or Cunego. So our main goal is to stay in the top 10.
A group around Burghardt tries it today. He is also the best with about 6min back. Bobridge also tried it to gain some more KoM points, but as 18th in the overall he had no chance.
Especially RadioShack is doing the pace. Spilak is doing a good pace for his leader Brajkovic.
If Brajkovic or Kreuziger can finish in the first group then they will probably fight for the overall. But the stage is still long.
With 6'44'' advantage the group reaches the highest point of this stage. So far Burghardt collected several KoM points and might win the jersey after this stage.
Later after some smaller hills just Burghardt and Morandi are ahead of the favourites. But the gap melted on under 1min.
Less than 30 riders are in the first group now. Danielson, Zabriskie and Peterson are still there. All 3 of them have problems climbing all these mountains. Especially the more steeper parts aren`t easy for Dave.
30km to ride and another very steep climb will come. Peterson felt back, so Danielson is protecting Dave now. The pace is very high now. Who will attack first?
It`s Samu Sanchez. Another good bet for the overall as he is a medium timetrialist. Cunego and F.Schleck are following him immediately.
these 3 are leading the race, but especially Kreuziger and Brajkovic are working behind now.
Quite successfull. All attackers are caught again but this fast pace was really bad for us. Both Garmin riders couldn`t hold the contact. Unfortunately there are still more than 10 riders in the leading group. This is a big danger for a top10 result. Lampre has still 3 riders there with Cunego, Kashechkin and Ginanni, Saxobank even 4 with the Schlecks, Sörensen and Cancellara.
Sanchez and Cunego attack and this time nobody is able to follow. Is this the decision now?
At least for Cunego it`s looking quite well. Sanchez lost contact and rides solo between both groups.
Behind the favourites another group is formed. Cancellara, Ginanni, Laverde, Gerrans, Frank and Danielson. Zabriskie is trying to join, too but has still some meters.
When Zabriskie jumped to the group with an great effort Cancellara attacks. These two and Gerrans might fight for the last top 10 now and Cancellara needs to gain most time.
Cunego was the strongest today and so he didn`t lose time on the flat kilometers in the end. Is this the frustration that he wasn`T nominated for the Giro to defend his title?
Is the time gap big enough for the timetrial? 39s to Sanchez and 1'35 to the other favourites.
Our riders lost 3'23 today. But at least we caught Cancellara again.
The first 9 have a good time gap now, but Gerrans on 10 has just a few second to Zabriskie. Cancellara has almost 2min but he is the favourite on the ITT tomorrow.
It was a very lonely day for many riders as there weren`t any bigger groups reaching the finish. The biggest by far had 16 riders. Several riders reached it totally alone. Also about 20 riders were out of the time limit. Biggest name might be Chicchi. Scott - Marcondes lost 5 of their 8 riders today.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 13
Ovaro - Arabba
Another hard stage. Also this is not mountain top finish, the descent isn`t that long to come together. So a good attack on the last mountain will give you a chance to win.
Martin had problems on stages like this with several mountains. So I hope he won`t lose time today. Also he isn`t regenerating very well as a pure climber.
A group with Duggan for the KoM jersey is formed. None of the riders is a big danger for the overall, so it looks quite good and the gap is growing.
Unfortunately the 14th in the overall Egoi Martinez attacked before the first mountain and joined the group. Just Kostyuk and Duggan were able to follow his speed, but also with problems.
Plus the peloton is riding faster now.
On the second mountain Duggan can`t follow any longer. So the KoM might be impossible now for us.
Still 70km to go but Nibali thinks it`s time for an early attack. He must feel very strong. Scarponi and Basso are following immediately. It`s just the third last mountain!!!
The group was splitted a lot. Just a small group can find contact in the descent to the 3 favourites. Martin and Millar are 2 of those but unfortunately Stetina is missing and he was planned as last helper for Martin as he is the better climber than Millar.
But also Seeldraeyers and Cataldo aren`t in this group.
The climb on the next mountain and Martin starts to struggle. He doesn`t feel as good as on the Zoncolan. Also Millar felts back now and Martin is totally alone. Luckily Duggan was overtaken now and was able to carry some water bottles.
On the descent Van Garderen is leading the race...
...Nibali, Basso, Scarponi, Pozzovivo, Mollema and Rujano are following ahead of...
...Le Mevel, Martin, Evans and Efimkin.
Luckily all groups plus some other riders were able to come together in the long descent. But this was already a sign for the next climb who is strong and who not today.
It`s again Nibali with the first attack, Martin is already in the end of the smaller group with some problems.
Nibali won another race. Will he be able to get Petacchi`s record of 9 stages in one Giro? He is absolutely unbeatable obviously.
Martin lost about 30s on Basso`s group and finished with 1'30 behind Nibali together with Evans and Le Mevel in one group. That was the maximum today. Bad for him that Mollema overtook him in the overall, but good for him that the other top 10 contenders were in the same group or even lost time like Seeldraeyers or Cataldo.
Stetina also showed a great performance on the last 2 mountains and overtook several rider ahead of him and finished on a strong 25th today. He might be in Martin`s position in 1-2 seasons.

Well, Martin had some problems on this stage, but with his 10th in the overall, he rodes a pretty good Giro until now |

Indeed. This might be the maximum for him this year. He has still some potentital in mo and hi.
Expecially if you forget this 1 flat stage and he would be 2nd with +1 to Scarponi |

Tour of California - Stage 7
Los Angeles - Los Angeles
a 33km mostly flat timetrial. Is Cunego`s advantage big enough or can riders like Sanchez, Brajkovic or Kreuziger gain enough time today?
Also the battle for the last top 10 placements between Gerrans, Zabriskie and Cancellara is still open. Gerrans might have no chance but can the Suisse expert win ~90s on Dave?
Bobridge is the first better timetrialist. He is also a favourite for a good result today. Of course he takes the new best time so far with +1'20''
47'14
Larsson was also a top 10 contender but lost soem time after a crash. He is 9s faster than the Australian.
47'05
The young American Taylor Phinney already one stage in this race. But can he also get a good result in his speciality? Yes, but 5s slower than Bobridge.
47'19
Cancellara is the big favourite today. He needs a very good time for a top 10 placement in the overall. How expected he sets a new best time. He is almost 2min faster than our Australian. Great ride by him.
45'28
Zabriskie is also on a good time but definitely can`t beat him. In the end he is 1'32 behind Cancellara and lost the overall by 7s. That is just too bad.
47'00
Gerrans will definitely lose the top 10 now if he can`t beat both of them. He isn`t a good timetrialist and so he lost lots of time.
49'11
U25 jersey wearer Kreuziger with a good time.
46'29
Same for Brajovic. 2nd behind Cancellara. This can really be dangerous for Cunego now.
46'05
Sanchez might be the biggest danger for the Italian. He got the same time than Dave.
47'00
He is still wearing the yellow jersey but what about after today?
He isn`t such good in ITT but with the yellow jersey he is extremely motivated. He loses 45s to Sanchez. So he really keeps the overall with 2s ahead of the Spaniard. Brajkovic now has just 9s to him and Kreuziger 39s. So the last stage might be an interesting one.
Also nice for us. C.A. Sörensen lost that much time that Zabriskie overtook him and is on 10 now.
