Yeah, I now know what you mean about "having a difficult" time when it's over. For a while that was one of the reasons I keep putting off and not watching it because I knew that once I started it was going to be a binge watch.

But now I got the family hooked so I get to watch again, one or two episodes a night. Dad likes the football and the Taylor family, but I can just tell he can't stand the other drama. Although Smash is growing on him. While my mom likes the drama, but careless about the football. Then there is my sister who quit watching after 5 episodes because "there weren't enough hot guys" to keep her interested. Rolling Eyes Saracen and Riggins weren't cutting it.

 I thought everyone liked (or would like) Riggins. And if not him, then Street or Saracen.

I tried getting my girlfriend (well, wife... not used to that yet) to watch it, but she pretty much refuses for no good reason. Her loss Pfft

By the way, I finally got around to reading the Friday Night Lights book which the TV series is inspired by (and which the movie is based on).

Obviously, it's quite different from the TV series, but still a very entertaining read.

I guess, for my part, it was interesting to read how real the football obsession really is/was in the town of Odessa (Dillon) - how those high school players really were stars who were allowed to do pretty much whatever they wanted in the city. And how the girls would do anything to be with them. That rally girls really exist(ed). Etc., etc.

As said, the TV series is not really based on the book, but it's definitely inspired by it. There's plenty of 'stories' from the book which have made it to the TV series.

For example, the book mentions how, after it was decided that a school primarily with black students would be shut down, the boosters club of the Permian High School (= Dillon High School) did everything it could to change the city's school border lines, so that the many black student would be eligible for the football team.

Obviously, this inspired the whole episode about redistricting in S04E01 of the TV series.

I need tips for series/movies.

Genre thriller/crime, something like the wire, first seasons of Homeland or first season of Twin peaks. Band of brothers (tried The Pacific but dont "got stuck in it"Wink

Also movies about adventures like Everest could be good.

Tough to make recommendations based on those one-of-a-kind series (The Wire, Twin Peaks).

I guess you could try the BBC's Sherlock with Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Or the first season of True Detective with McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Also the first season of Fargo (inspired by the Coen Brothers movie), again with Martin Freeman and also Billy Bob Thornton. The author of the Wayward Pines novels said he was inspired by Twin Peaks, I really enjoyed reading them, the tv series rushes through the mystery a bit too quickly, pretty much condensing three novels into just 10 episodes (and adding a weird 2nd season). Then definitely try Stranger Things, of course. If you like a bit of blood&gore then maybe season 1 of Hannibal, I didn't enjoy the other seasons as much. Also, season 1 of Netflix's Ozark, maybe season 1 of The Sinner, maybe season 1 of Altered Carbon (scifi noir). The great Black Mirror, every episode a new story in a not-so-distant future, most of them are brilliant.

Yes, True Detective and Fargo are amazing great. as well as Stranger Things, but I think this one is a different type of show. I also enjoyed The Killing and Broadchurch. You might also want to look into The night of, The Alienist or The folowing

Considering the username I guess viking is Scandinavian and will know the Danish series (Forbrydelsen) The Killing is based on. Btw, alex, seeing your first post on top of this page, did you catch the 90 minute Psych special which aired last December? https://en.wikipe..._The_Movie

Yeah. Even though it was nice to see the gang all together (except for Lassie because the actor had health issues during filming) it kind of felt off. It felt like they were trying a bit too hard and the characters felt more like caricatures of themselves.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

Actually already seen The Killing and You´re right I liked it.
But havent seen the Danish version, and yes I´m Scandinavian Swedish infact. Bron Swedish/Danish series is one of my favorite aswell.

Will have a go at Sherlock and Wayward Pines since they are available on the streaming services I have ATM.

True Detective is on another Streamings Service but maybe will look in to that later. Aswell as The Night of but both sounds interesting.

Heard a lot about Stranger Things but have got the feeling it´s too much horror feeling for me on that show Pfft #chicken

alexkr00
Stranger things didn't feel like horror to me. Tension, yes, and it's way better than horror Smile

Must say thanks for the tips once again.

Stranger things was not scary it was a really good serie! Waiting for season 3, heard it comes first next year Sad Dustin is the man!

First season of Wayward Pines was ok, the second I did not like.
Sherlock was ok aswell.

Next up is either Ozark, Black Mirror or Riverdale.

Ah. Stranger Things. It's just too long until next season.

Enjoyed a couple of Netflix series lately though. Los Cuervos (which I started watching a couple of years ago) is great fun, imo. It's about a family behind a Mexican football team, with some good characters and a fine taste of humor. Anyone else here, who knows this series?

Currently watching 13 reasons why, a kinda interesting approach to a story of a teenager's suicide. American high-school stuff. It ain't always reasonable imo, but I'm still kinda addicted to keep following. About to finish season one tonight.

viking90
Never heard of that Los Ceurvos show.

But 13 reasons why did I see a month ago or so, it did not take many days for me to see all of those episodes. So you could for sure say it was kinda addicting, I liked it. Wow, last episode of first season its a tough one. Cant say more without spoiling Pfft

Well, yes. That was indeed a tough one. Very emotional as well.. I had a weird feeling from the bath scene onwards til the end.

Well. Season two then Smile

alexkr00
13 reasons is quite reasonable if you think about the fact that the main characters are teenagers. Remember how you used to be back in the day Pfft

My problem with the show is that two seasons were already enough, but what the hell are they thinking making in a third season. I don't really see how they could make a third season work. Even though it was nice to see the characters for another season it felt that it tried to tie too many lose ends up and some new pieces of info didn't felt like they fit in with the narrative from the first season.
