So, arrived in Kuala Lumpur and a few hours before the start of the team presentation, I get a phone call by Maddrengen.
Maddrengen: "Dear dienblad, I'm sorry to tell you, but my flight has been delayed for unknown time."
Dienblad: Ehm, and you are the one that brings the new jersey?
Maddrengen: "Unfortunately, yes. I've got the jerseys (and shorts) in my luggage. I won't make it in time, still in Denmark at the airport."
Dienblad: crap...... But we can't cancel the prsentation, as the world cycling press is here, so the only option we have is to keep the jersey a secret, and show our team to the world."

Welcome to the first part of the press conference of the Petronas - Monster Energy cycling team. A team with a short existence, but that developed as the playrole for many others in just 3 years. When the team started as Monster Energy - Ford in the Continental Tour, good results at the start gave the team a wild card for the Grand Tours immediately. And with winning both the Giro and the Vuelta for Robert Gesink, the first season was a great succes.
Of course, the team promoted to the World Tour and again we showed that we could fight the best riders in all terrains. Andy Schleck won his first GT (the Vuelta) in his career and with many other wins, the team finishes in 1st place in the World Tour ranking. 2014 had 1 main goal: winning the Tour de France. And after a succesfull classics season, with winning the Ronde van Vlaanderen and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Andy Schleck brought the team the succes it had dreamt of. And with winning Il Lombardia, the 3 years under the main sponsorship of Monster Energy (with Subway as the new co-sponsor) came to an end.
Now we are here in Kuala Lumpur, in the world famous Petronas Twin Towers, to present you the team for 2014. First of all, we want to thank the riders that left the team this winter for their great work and achievements in the past year: Andy Schleck (to Sky), Thomas De Gendt (To Radio Shack), Theo Bos (to Omega Pharma) and Romain Zingle (to Dexia).
Then, we continue with the riders of the Petronas - Monster Energy cycling team. 28 riders will be riding for the team colours this season:
