Andy have made too much race before tdf. You need to do less then 20 race, and then, he will be at 100% shape during tdf.
I hope that Haussler will win green jersey

tough luck, hopefully you can still manage a top 10.

Also, is it just me or has the yellow jersey been replaced by the Vuelta's golden jersey? It seems that way especially with the big red sponsor logos.

Didn't equate it with the Vuelta but definitely it is not a yellow jersey. Not sure why. First year that has happened.

He is actually at 99% fitness at the moment. He is just not a happy guy. He came into the race on normal. I made the mistake of pushing him too hard on one of the early stages and he changed to unhappy. Once unhappy, performance drops and it becomes a death spiral. Right now he is very unhappy.

Stage 15: Le Bourg d'Oisan - Moutiers
i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0001-5.jpg

Very hot day today, 35 degrees. Should be a tough stage.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0002-4.jpg
12th placed Abram Garcia attacks up the very first climb and is allowed to go.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0003-4.jpg
18km from the peak of the same climb, Nibali attacks.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0004-4.jpg
The pack gets very stretched out by the chase after Nibali.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0005-4.jpg
Nibali is caught before we hit the peak, but the front group has already been reduced to 24 with the entire race remaining.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0006-5.jpg
The pace doesn't slow as the front group decides to go after Garcia as well. As we hit the second climb, the front is now down to only 15 riders.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0007-5.jpg
Garcia is finally caught and the pace slows just a bit, allowing a few of the riders to get back to the front.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0008-4.jpg
Those who caught up did not stay up front for long, however, and as we hit the final climb of the day: the Col de la Madeleine, the front group is back down to 15.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0009-4.jpg
With the strong pace, riders begin to drop off. Garcia Gonzalez, Froom, Ting and Zanasca are first to be left behind.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0010-5.jpg
Menchov, Costa and Tatulyan are dropped.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0011-3.jpg
Mollema is dropped.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0012-4.jpg
Intxausti, on the other hand, finds the pace too slow and attacks.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0013-4.jpg
As he crosses the peak and begins the descent, Intxausti has a 34 second lead.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0014-2.jpg
The chase group consists of 6 men: Schleck, Dees, Dekker, Mitodorov, Gesink and Kreuziger.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0015-3.jpg
Schleck and Kreuziger are dropped once the road flattens out.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0016-3.jpg
The 4 remaining riders of the chase group manage to catch Intxausti.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0017-3.jpg
Mitodorov doesn't have energy for the sprint.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0018-3.jpg
Dekker wins the stage in a sprint.

Much better day for Schleck today. Not great, but he finishes in the top 7. 12 more abandonments today, including Mark Cavendish who drops out following a pretty poor general performance. He'll focus on other races now.

Stage 16: Aime - Flaine

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0019b.jpg
Haussler goes in the break today chasing points. He'll pick up 12.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0020-3.jpg
We're looking to be more aggressive today and attack on the Col de la Colombiere with Ivan Rovny. He is joined by Brajkovic and Sanchez. Menchov, Mollema, Amilcar, Nibali, Tatulyan, Redondo, Reus, Kreuziger and Garcia also attack but we miss the pictures as I thought they were going for mountain points but turned out they were looking to get away.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0023-3.jpg
We come to the final climb of the day, the Col de Pierre Carree. Rovny, Menchov and Mollema are in front.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0023-3.jpg
32 seconds back are Brajkovic, Sanchez and Amilcar.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0024-4.jpg
Another 34 seconds back are Nibali, Tatulyan, Redondo, Reus, Kreuziger and Garcia.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0027-4.jpg
Mariani, Schleck, Gesink and Costa all attack.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0028-4.jpg
Dekker and Froome go.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0029-3.jpg
Meanwhile, Rovny cracks. He is done.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0030-4.jpg
Moreno, Pliuschin and Intxausti all go.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0032-4.jpg
As attacks settle, Menchov and Mollema are still in front.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0033-4.jpg
Sanchez, Amilcar and Brajkovic are still in E2, but are now 1'08 back.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0034-3.jpg
E3 now consists of Tatulyan, Dekker, Redondo, Kreuziger and Nibali and are 32 seconds back of E2.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0038-3.jpg
Finally, a furthe 20 seconds back a group of Reus, Garcia, Mariani, Schleck, Froome, Gesnik, Costa, Pliuschin, Intxausti and Moreno has come together

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0039-3.jpg
Dekker knows Intxausti is coming and attacks out of E3, he is looking to take yellow. He'll pas by E2 and settle in behind E1.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0040-3.jpg
Schleck can't keep up the pace and needs to drop back.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0041-2.jpg
Mollema and Menchov hold their lead all the way to the finish, with Mollema taking the stage.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0042-3.jpg
Dekker is getting stronger and manages to pull away for 3rd. There will be a new man in yellow after the rest day tomorrow.

Stage 17: Geneve - Lausanne
i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0040-4.jpg

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0043-3.jpg
Abram Garcia attacks up the second climb of the day.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0044-3.jpg
He is joined by Luca Zanasca, the peloton lets them go.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0046-3.jpg
On the 3rd climb of the day, Dekker (wearing the real yellow jersey) attacks. He is looking to extend his lead before the stage 20 ITT.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0047-2.jpg
Mollema follows.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0048-3.jpg
Then Schleck.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0050-3.jpg
followed by the remaining usual suspects: Intxausti, Froome, Menchov, Gesink, Tatulyan.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0052-2.jpg [/img]
As attacking settles, Garcia and Zanasca still hold a lead of 1'01 over....

Dekker who is coming up fast.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0058.jpg
A 5-man group of Mollema, Schleck, Intxausti, Froom and Menchov who are 26 seconds back of Dekker.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0059.jpg
Nobody else was able to escape the peloton, which is 53 seconds back of the Schleck group.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0060.jpg
Dekker has passed Garcia and Zanasca and is now alone in first.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0061.jpg
The Schleck group catches Garcia and Zanasca.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0062.jpg
Shortly after, however, the Schleck group is caught by the peloton.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0064.jpg
As we come to the uphill to the finish, Nibali and Costa attack. Nobody follows.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0065.jpg
They won't come anywhere near catching Dekker, who wins the stage making it look increasingly like he will win his 3rd Tour.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0066.jpg
They do, however, manage to take 2nd and 3rd.

Stage 19: Vesoul - Saint Dizier
i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0008-5.jpg

Flattish stage but a bit hilly near the end.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0010-6.jpg
Haussler has a slim chance at best to take green so we need to make something happen. It is a risk, but he attacks up the small hill 8km from the finish.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0011-4.jpg
It doesn't work as the main sprinters up the pace and connect with him within 3km of the finish.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0013-5.jpg
Ciolek blows by everyone in the sprint.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0014-3.jpg
Ciolek wins the stage, Haussler manages to put in a final burst and take 3rd. With that stage win, Ciolek clinches the green jersey.

Stage 20: Chalons en Champagne ITT
i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0014-4.jpg

42km ITT today although it lacks much drama. The time gaps between most cyclists are so huge that not many positions will change. Schleck is one of the few with something to ride for as the gap between his 9th place position and Froome's 10th place is quite tight.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0016-4.jpg
Brajkovic logs a stunning time of 1h02'22". Had he been racing like this all three weeks he might have won. Only guys who might top this are the top 10 in the standings.

Stage 21: Antony - Champs Elysees
i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0026-5.jpg

This is it, the final stage of the tour. 3 weeks ago we started with 198 cyclists. Only 148 will start today's stage. The most disappointing of all the teams has been Chocolade Jacques who have only 3 cyclists remaining, the highest placed of which is Andreas Linden in 95th.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0027-5.jpg
Nothing much happened until we hit the sprint. Haussler has good position just behind Claudio Corioni with Forke and Ciolek behind him.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0028-5.jpg
Sprint gets going and positions remain as they were.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0030-5.jpg
Ciolek and Forke make their move and pass Haussler.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/tour%20de%20france/PCM0031-3.jpg
Ciolek wins another stage. Breakthrough Tour for him. Haussler gets a second burst and passes Forke for 2nd.

The lack of stage wins and no green jersey is disappointing for Haussler. However, he racked up a large number of podium places and finished second in the points standings so it was not a bad tour for him. The rest of the Discovery Channel team, however, was pretty disappointing.

Dekker takes yellow, Ciolek green, Tatulyan the polka dot jersey, Gesink is young rider and Saunier Duval takes the team standings by a very large margin.

Kreuziger Switches Teams

Immediately following a top 10 finish at the Tour de France, it was announced today that Roman Kreuziger will not be with Saunier Duval next season. Instead, Kreuziger has signed a contract with Team CSC, possibly signaling that Janez Brajkovic's time with CSC is coming to an end. Kreuziger will not have liked playing #2 to Benat Intxausti at the Tour de France this year and figures to be the leader for CSC at next years edition.

Other Contract News

Mirdajolol Mitodorov will be leaving Astana after this season to join Barloworld where he will likely bet the team leader for the Tour de France next season.

Alexander Gottfried will be leaving Predictor Lotto to sign with Milram.

Discovery Channel has increased its American contingent with the signing of Saul Raisin. Discovery Channel also announced the signing of the young Italian, Valerio Agnoli, from Tinkoff.

Leaving Discovery Channel is Zhou Sui who will join T-Mobile next season.

July Recap and August Schedule

It comes as no surprise that Thomas Dekker has been named the cyclist of the month for July.

As of the end of July, points standings are as follows:

UCI Pro Tour: Individual
Ivan Rovny continues to hold a slight lead in the overall standings.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/PCM0032-1.jpg

UCI Pro Tour: Team
No change as Discovery Channel has an overwhelming lead. Chocolade Jacques is gone already with Gerolsteiner, LPR and Euskatel fighting to see who gets the second relegation spot.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/PCM0033-1.jpg

Continental Tour: Individual
A change at the top as Ben Gastauer takes over from Kruopis.

i632.photobucket.com/albums/uu49/BangkokYank/PCM0034-1.jpg

Continental Tour: Team
Unibet looks safe for promotion. Credit Agricole and Bouygues Telecom look likely to fight it out for the second spot.
