Contador was very ragged, looking for any extra ounce of power he could find on the pedals. Valverde too but not so much. They were closely matched in the mountains.
I hope Valverde wins the overall. Ill take anyone but Contador with open hands.
However I expect Contador to get stronger as the Vuelta passes, and the opposite for Valverde.

Exciting stage? Nah, it never really got super exciting, but I'm definitely looking forward to the next mountain stage. |

These climbs are not hard enough to make differences Isso. These 2 mt stages tell me nothing.
I think we can see a lot of guys in front failing hard on the Angliru next saturday. Because these unsteep climbs are not exactly hard. I expect Mosquera and Anton to fail the hardest in the Angliru stage |

Has nothing to do with the crash, and he's said so himself that he's fine. Wanna bet the Cunego fans still think he's injured or some other explanation instead of the simple fact that he's not a climber?
Now Paulinho upping the pace and shedding the peloton. As a result the string breaks and the pack is down to about 30 people. Bye Chavanel.
And Now Euskaltel take charge yet again.
Cunego is quite clearly still injured, he's riding with a broken leg and is also the greatest climber the world has ever seen, is that what you wanted to hear isso In all seriousness i was expecting him to drop off fairly early on the climb probably saving himself for other more hilly stages as he knows he cannot win on a mountain. I bet he kept Ballan company off the back

I'm perfectly aware of that. I've been bitching about that for a while now. It's Anglirú, Navacerrada and nothing else. This year's course sucks. MAYBE, just MAYBE Fuentes de Invierno won't suck.

Antón I'm not sure, but Mosquera I definitely don't expect to crack on the Anglirú.

By the way, Contador puts in all these powerfull attacks, but in the end, he only wins 5 seconds. I think his acceleration is stronger then his actual long lasting pace... :? |

Compare his normal pedalling with his pedalling at the end. he was on his last legs. If a Tour-strength Menchov was there, Contador would've lost time.
But he'll get stronger in the next few weeks.

I think I'll have to join in on this thread now.
I'll start with Sastre. He's not going to win. He's not at the same level as he was in Le Tour, and he is never able to get rid off everybody else in the mountains in the Vuelta and with the performance he had today, I can't see that happening. I think this will be one of the races, where Sastre attacks and attacks with all the favourites easily countering him. I don't even think he can get on the podium to be honest. I hope I'm not right but I think I am.
Valverde seems strong, but historically he has always been better in the Vuelta. In 2006 he was even stronger than Sastre in the mountains. It's the same deal this time around and I think Valverde will be on the podium. Not the top step though.
Because I'm pretty sure it belong to Contador and I won't rule out Leipheimer yet. He practically didn't lose anything on Contador today. But Astana is in a weird space, because Leipheimer looks to be in top condition and if he is that I think he can follow riders like Sastre and Valverde all the way through the biggest mountains. Contador hasn't seemed as strong as I though he would be. I though he would just own everybody today, but that didn't happen.
Guys like Mosquera and Anton are interesting but none of them will get on the podium in this Vuelta. This is how I think it'll look at the end of three weeks.
1. Contador
2. Leipheimer
3. Valverde
4. Sastre
5. Anton
But something tells me I'm underrating Sastre, eventhough I don't tend to do so.

I was Sastre fan today..if this was planned climbing..then he is a genius. And I also remember kind of weird moves at the past of Vuelta..author same man Ssatre.
How Bruyneel can stop Leipheimer to win Vuelta..? For me he looked has strongest man for day.
and I am not even a fan.
For Cunego fans- we dont have lot of them left after this Vuelta
he isnt that bad...what is going on with that guy.

he isnt that bad...what is going on with that guy. That "I'm doping free" tatoo of his is making one-of-the-most-talented-rider-ever looking like some random French rider. |

Nice win by Van Avermaet, I like his celebration. I wished Matti had made the break though, he would have taken him. Right, isso?

At the 15th stage, Cunego will be in another break, you bet.
Can Martinez finish at top 10 in the GC?

no, MartÃnez cannot.
A_Schleck, definitely. In fact, the only reason Breschel didn't bridge the 7 minute gap on his own with his powerful sprint was that he was feeling magnanimous enough to give Van Avermaet another win....just like he "let" Van Avermaet win every time they went head-to-head in a sprint this season

I'm not questioning you, but when did they go head-to-head?
