So that makes Nibali (most likely) undeserved winner? You're surprising me more and more every day. It's just ridiculous.
Yes it does because he won by default, there are no one left.
Once you get older you will learn that winning is not really winning if you win because the others don't compete.
OMG, ur the most arrogant cunt ever... Nibali could have won even withOut the crashes...
I agree, he already was 2 mins up, BUT today is the first real mountains so we would've known after today for real.
He is lucky that the others crashed, but yeah, he is a great bike handler and not crashing is a quality aswell.
Not fair to say that Contador "crashed" if his bike literally brook into 2 pieces
I would like to see you guys ride only on the backwheel without a handle

Wtf is Martin doing again? This is not humanly possible.
Comentators on Czech TV are joking about him.
"And there is one from OPQS in the front group."
"Two."
"No, the other one is just a motorbike."
"But he still has the number."
"Yes, he's racing motorbike."
yeah, that was fun.

as team manager I would spend lot of money to get Tony Martin in my team
Yup, money wisely spent for any team. Works all day, either in break or for sprint train, can climb and gets ocassional (TT) stage wins. Lefevere will have to pay big time for renewing Martin's contract.

But how would professional bike, especially a brand like Specialized, broke in two without crashing (talking about first situation)? Is that even possible?

Nibali is a fantastic rider and will be one of the great grand tour riders, he has proved himself at the Vuelta and the Giro, and we all know you need to be a strong rider to win the Giro these days, he almost averages a grand tour win a year. Even if he didn't win the Tour this year, I always believe that one day he will but I think unless he crashes, which you never know now then he should win this edition and enter the list of rider to win all three grand tours, and deservedly so too

I'm sorry but whenever I ask someone who won the 1980 tour, they say Joop Zoetemelk, not some guy who won because Hinault got injured.

I guess it's possible if there is a case of metal fatigue, or something similar. It that's the case then it's a huge mistake by both manufacturer and team.
However, Ochams Razor teaches us that it was most likely due to a nasty crash.

No idea, which makes me think that the mistranslation was the most likely thing. Of course, there are poeple here who are way better with tech than myself who might have a better answer.

why does this place have such a hostile tone? its the reason it took me years before my first post.
namecalling and personal attacks add nothing to any discussion. if you think somebody is wrong, type out why you think they're wrong instead of bloody slurs. in the end, it leads to a better atmosphere, more intelligent discussion, and a friendly and welcoming environment that draws in newcomers. while the hostility scares people away.
please, if not for me, then for everyone else. |

Snap.
I agree simieon - this thread has got very nasty. It is mostly the extra seriousness of the TDF that is to blame here though.

This is the first mountain stage and it's not even begun.
No one knows how Rui Costa, Peraud, Talansky, Rolland, Valverde, Porte and Pinot will progress during the race. And it doesn't surprise the first reaction of several people is that the eventual winner doesn't deserve it - just because the favourites failed to make it to Paris.
Nibali won a big battle against Contador on the cobbles and that showed signs of a worthy favourite. |

Contador leaving will be worse news for Astana. Now they are out and out favorite and will have to chase in every mountain stage. |
