I've never seen such a ridiculously OP youth, with the sole exception of Sagan.
Yeah because he already won the Omloop, Milan - San Remo, E3, Gent Wevelgem, De Ronde, Amstel Gold Race, the WC, the Green Jersey at the Tour, a single race in a GT and everything else. You're right. Being winner of Kuurne, Roubaix and the NC is just ridiculous. Could never happen in real life. Imagine someone winning Roubaix. That could never happen.
People seem to forget it's a game and not supposed to be realistic. Also it's your story so you can do what you want, you're just doing it to entertain us. It's not about the credibility, it's about the storywriting IMO. |

Great win but imo it´s all happening too fast.. not that i don´t like it but will be there anything left to win next season?.. i think Cancellara could have other finish.. maybe if you change to extreme, wins will be a little harder to get with Matthias and thus making more reliable.. but i agree with TimoCycling too.. it´s your story mate and i´ll follow it anyway..

Haven't followed this much but took a brief look at the recent comments. I have to say it is difficult to continue a long story with one rider with avg really low, can easily lose motivation.
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

Ian has stated before that he wants to do a full career here and not just one, two or five years. He needs a good pace for that to ensure it. While concerns about the pace are valid, I think it's necessary to stay motivated.
Also, I really don't get what's so bad about him winning Paris-Roubaix and the Belgium National Championships. Matt has still a long way ahead of him.

Wow, i missed quite a lot there!
Well done on the victory at P-R, was awfully deserved after the three races before. And of course it's great to see him in the tricolore jersey, looking forward to Pologne already.

It seems pretty obvious most people here don't care about winners. I always like to hear/tell stories about extraordinary people, those who stand out because of what they do. I couldn't be bothered to write a story about some shmuck who just rides his bike in the peloton anonymously. There are lots of story writers who can do that and that's good for them, but it's just not my style.
Already from my first stories, I've had to listen to the criticism that the riders are too good. Over time I dropped their stats, but the problem was that I kept getting better at the game, thus the results stayed the same. Still, I didn't mind, but some of you always did.
I'd like to point out that in the story of tpinot, Anthony Louveille is 22 years old and has already won the Ronde and Il Lombardia. Or how about Mresuperstar's Quest stories? Talk about winners.
Don't get me wrong, I love those stories, really do! They are exactly my style. But because I tried to get this story moving fast, the good results follow each other fast, of course. If I do 7 updates a day, there are bound to be 3 or 4 good races in there.
To be honest, I'm a bit tired of constantly having to justify myself about the "realism'" or "overpowering" of my rider in my story (even though overpowering is definitely way too big a word for Matthias...), so I guess I'm calling it quits. I'll be playing my career just for me from now on. When I'll return with a story, I'll try to find something that you can finally like.
There are some wonderful stories out there, enjoy them. I know I will. |

No Ian, you definitely got it wrong. Don't even try to stop this, as that never ever was point of these (I am very, very sure) comments.
C'mon, don't act like 10 years old guy, man! You're doing this for yourself! I mean, you're the guy that had a story with 150 pages, no way that you're going to stop this just like that, just because of few negative comments. It's your decision at the end, but I would REALLY like to see you continuing this.

Ignore them Ian, your stories have always been really good (except the french guy, couldn't really connect to that one ). The criticisers didn't bother to read your story properly to see that 2014 wasn't Matt's first season. They also didn't bother to read through all it to see where he came from and how much progress Matt made. They only see "16 pages and already winning Roubaix, that can't be right!".
I think you should write your next story about some guy's carreer doing nothing but carrying bottles for 100 pages, I'm sure they'll love it!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

I'd say this is one of the most realistic developments. First shining in the PCT around age 21, then have a good season in the WT with a semi-breakthrough and then after that the major breakthrough. I enjoy this story despite my low amount of comments and I really don't think you should stop.

And in the end he doped. The most pointless twist.

Please continue Ian, I personally enjoy this story as much as I liked 'A day in the life' and 'Double Feature'
Matthias can achieve so much more than P-R, kuurne and NC.
so please give him the chance to show us.
If you make story there are always some people who have other opinions and disagree with the style or the speed of the story
I just think you have much more fans than haters.
Just think about it man

No, Ian, No! Nononononono! You're 21 days to late to say that shit! This could really become one of your best stories ever, don't let a few guys that think Matt's too good destroy your storx. There are so many things yet undone, Matt still needs to win G-W and RvV, needs to go to a GT, the worlds, all of that in the Belgian tricolore. You can't not let us be a part of it!

I want to thank you all for your collective reaction. I didn't realize there were so many who are enjoying this. I'll continue this for you.
Your positive reactions bring back my motivation completely, thanks.
I'll give you the report on what happened in Poland shortly.

Tour of Austria 2015
Last year, the Tour of Austria really launched my sprinting career. So far I've won some beautiful sprints in my career. I came here with only one ambition: show my new jersey in the bunch sprints!
When we analysed the route, we came to the conclusion that there were three opportunities for a sprinter of my caliber.
A day for the sprinters - Part I
On stage 3, which was the first flat stage, the peloton made a huge mistake in underestimating the breakaway. Or, rather, one particular man in the break.
Andrea Fedi took the victory right before our very noses. I finished 3th.
A day for the sprinters - Part II
We had to wait a few days for another chance to score with our train. We were biding our time in the peloton.
Coming up to the sprint, our lead-out overtook the entire peloton. There were lots of turns and twists and I made a split decision to leave a gap. Our neopro Bradley Carroll took this opportunity and scored his first professional victory. Well done, mate!
I finished 2nd, so we scored a 1 - 2. Orica is doing well at the moment!
A day for the sprinters - Part III
I was happy for Bradley, but I was getting a bit anxious myself. We were now at the final stage of the Tour of Austria and I was still very keen on getting a stage victory. The sprinting field here was not very high so knew I could win at least one stage. With the perfect lead-out by Carroll, I won my first race in this jersey for the team! Yes! A strong Van Asbroeck was second.
In the Points Classification, I was shared winner with Nieve, but his two stage victories earned him the jersey. Oh well, I can work towards the Tour de Pologne with a lot of confidence!
We are proud to present...
We have a lot of things to be proud of at the moment. This jersey has been a dream of mine since forever. Wearing this motivates me to make the most of every single race. I know I'll never give up fighting wearing this.
But Orica is especially proud to present a change in personnel. For the next season, we have successfully signed... Jurgen Roelandts! Unable to take the pressure of being sole leader, Jurgen is coming over to share leadership with me in the cobbled classics. He operates better as shadow leader and is prepared to work for me on many occasions, too.
This gives me a lot of confidence for next season, to have someone like that alongside me!
I'll see you in Poland, in this great jersey,
Matthias |
