@sutty68: Cycling is like that, and I will work for my new team even if there will always be friendship with those guys Grin

My Off days are now over, I'm back on my bike and I can't wait to ride again in the peloton. But, before here is the important results of the past few months:

Concerning the race I will be part of, there some that I'm already sure, I will start in Poland, then the Eneco Tour, I will ride the Vattenfall Cyclassics, Grand Prix Ouest France - Plouay and the two Canadian races for sure, we will see for the rest.

You will certainly be joining a strong and successful team Smile

@sutty68: and young also, there are many future talents in the team Wink

Before starting anything, I received this pic by email last week. This is something I've never done before, during 3 days I got tested in different levels and terrains, I was evaluated compared to my team mates and at the end of the three days I had a mark positioning myself in the team. According to the staff, there will be 2 released of the results per year, one at the beginning of the season after the first training camp and one before the Tour de France.

Tour de Pologne

The Squad:

N.Arndt
J.Fröhlinger
C.Haga
R.Janse Van Reinsburg
A.Louveille
F.Ludvigsson
L.Mezgec

Pre-Race:

It feel good to be back on the roads, I came here to build my form, I will be, as my team, a stage hunter here. Fun fact, UCI did not forced World Tour teams to take part in that race, the pack will be reduce to 83 riders Grin

Stage 1

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0001_zps9111eeb5.jpg

Here we are (I should say here I am Wink) at the start of my first race of 2015, in my new suit, I must say that it looks good Grin. I was so much anxious about that race, I was hoping to be in good shape, to have the level I had before I left for 8 months. But as soon as the race started, I knew everything was there and as we say in France "le velo ça ne s'oublie pas".

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s01/PCM0009_zpsca0be030.jpg

A breakaway of 4 riders quickly got formed, Adam Hansen ( LTB) did an impressive show at the front but Mathew Hayman ( OGE) took the mountains points ahead of him.
The last two riders I don't remember their names, it's not as important as they did not make it.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s01/PCM0010_zps196de53c.jpg

Behind them the pack was controlled by an impressive Katusha Team, they were riding for their Russian sprinter Alexei Tsatevich ( KAT). We also had many good sprinters in the team but it looked like Katusha riders wanted to control everything by themselves.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s01/PCM0011_zps765518cc.jpg

With 16 kilometers to go, the gap was down to 1'12. When we started to had them in mire points, it was even easier to come pack on them, even though Adam Hansen tried to leave the group before we caught them.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s01/PCM0012_zpsa33456e8.jpg

As predicted, the race ended in a mass sprint, we used the split stream of the Katusha riders, with Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg in first position, then Luka Mezgec and me at the end.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s01/PCM0013_zpsc3038e51.jpg

The sprint was very fast, I had forgotten some of my habits and I got blocked against a fence by a rider from Caja Rural.
With a perfect lead out from his team mates, no one could contest the win of Alexei Tsatevich ( KAT). Luka Mezgec took a great second position, I ended 15th.

I don't think I lost many automatics, that 15 position is encouraging for the future and I even think of stage win here in that race.

After his brilliant Tour de France, Warren Barguil won the Spanish classics Clasica Ciclista San Sebastian.

Stage 2

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0002_zpscb56e2bc.jpg

The second stage of the race was quite like the first one, flat from the very beginning and very exposed to wind.

Three riders wanted to make the race at the front and this time I took the names Pfft, they were Jens Mouris ( OGE), Sébastien Minard ( ALM) and Martyn Irvine UHC). These three riders had a maximum gap of 5' so they knew their chances were small.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s02/PCM0001_zpsd4f7eb99.jpg

At the front of the pack, like in the first stage, Katusha riders were making the pace. They were helped by another Russian Team RusVelo which was also looking for a mass sprint finish.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s02/PCM0002_zps70900101.jpg

The gap quickly melted away as the breakaway only had 1'04 with 36 kilometers to go, despite their attempts to last longer the three riders had to gave up their hope of going further.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s02/PCM0003_zps34a7b1d5.jpg

I may have speak to fast, as Jens Mouris ( OGE) resisted longer to the pack, he was in a fight against the clock now but he knew that with a whole pack launched behind him it would be hard. He had 36" with 16 kilometers to go.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s02/PCM0004_zps52581104.jpg

But, despite the effort of the Dutch rider, the pack came back on him and prepare for a sprint.

Like in the first stage, we use Katusha riders' Split Stream as a train but what we did not expect was the train of RusVelo that blocked us behind?, we had to do a huge efforts to come back to the front.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s02/PCM0005_zps850c3a71.jpg

And again, a Russian from a Russian team won the stage, but this time the rider was from RusVelo, Leonid Krasnov ( RVL) won the stage ahead Luka Mezgec and Alessandro Bazzana ( UHC). I'm not far from the top ten as I took the 12th position.

The feelings are great, my legs are present and I really start to think I will do something good in that race, I will target at list a top 5 in a stage but more is very welcome.
Tomorrow we will have to defend the leader jersey of Luka Mezgec. The finish is most likely to be in my favor as it is on top of a hill.

Stage 3

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0003_zpsdb174709.jpg

Today we had Luka Mezgec in Yellow, the finish was not made for him so we agreed to have some one in the breakaway. Ivar Slik ( GNT) managed to leave with two other riders who were Mathew Hayman ( OGE) and Ben Day ( UHC). They had a maximum gap of 7'55 but without really working hard for it.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0001_zpsdda0ee15.jpg

When the pack really started the chase, there were men of Katusha and Cannondale at the front to set a very high pace, the gap was reducing a lot and the breakaway understood this was the end.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0002_zps9ff49405.jpg

At the footstep of the first climb, with 37 kilometers to go, 3 men attacked. Mikhail Ignatiev ( KAT), Brian Bach Vandborg ( CAN) and Manuele Boaro ( TSB) felt it was time to launch the hostilities. We did not worried in the pack, the finish was still far away a,d we had Ivar Slik ( GNT) at the front.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0003_zps6ff7fc77.jpg

Second climb of the day, 23 kilometers to go everyone is back in the pack and Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg ( GNT) is riding very fast at the front of the pack. at two kilometers from the summit, Chad Haga accelerated taking me and two riders from RusVelo with him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0004_zps39aec13c.jpg

We did not want to use too much energy so we let the chasing group join us in the downhill.

Last climb, 8 kilometers to go, a surprise attack from Ilnur Zakarin ( RVL), we did not saw that coming and his gap was already quite important, with Chad Haga, we started to pursuit him but he was too strong and a small group was coming closer on us.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0005_zps107aad13.jpg

Last two kilometers, we ended up in a group of 8 riders chasing the leader, the entente was not that good and a RusVelo riders made many sabotage.
I was already at my limits and I felt I was cracking, I did not took the last relay to save some energy.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s03/PCM0006_zps917e6a16.jpg

Clearly the strongest today, Ilnur Zakarin took the stage win and the Overall ranking at the same time. Behind him another RusVelo rider, Kirill Pozdnyakov ( RVL) took the second position 16" after his team mate. And to my own surprise, I'm completing the podium, thanks to my good strategy, I managed to jump from wheel to wheel to get that third position, that is encouraging.

That was a great stage for me, I did not expect to be at that level so soon, tomorrow I will were the KoM jersey but I'm also the leader of the Young Classification.
The next stage is categorized as flat but the profile suit much to a breakaway than too a mass sprint finish. We will see Grin.

@sutty68: it will be hard to keep that third position as there is a mountain finish but I'll do everything I can Grin

Big News:

Tour de Pologne

Stage 4

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0004_zpsa64e79b2.jpg

The fourth stage of that Tour de Pologne was clearly designed for fighters, and this is why we had Fredrik Ludvigsson ( GNT) at the front riding with Gatis Smukulis ( KAT) and Jens Mouris ( OGE). They had a maximum gap of 12' evreything looked like they could make it.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s04/PCM0001_zps9817721b.jpg

Fredrik Ludvigsson took the maximum mountain points today as he arrived first at the three summit of the day. There was a huge fight between the three riders but every time Fredrik was the strongest. He will took the KoM jersey out of my shoulders.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s04/PCM0002_zps751b7759.jpg

When the gap reached the 12", the pack started to react and the chase was on, Tinkoff riders and Katusha riders were sharing the lead of the pack and the gap was starting to decrease. The pace was not that high and we did not have to make many efforts to stay in touch with pack.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s04/PCM0003_zps7a021c8c.jpg

28 kilometers to go, the gap is still 6'20, it looks like the breakaway will make it, Fredrik Ludvigsson was starting to stay at the back watching is two opponents, they did almost the same and the pace of the group quickly reduced.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s04/PCM0004_zpsc868cce5.jpg

What a ride it has been from the pack, we rode 15 kilometers at a very fast pace to finally reduce the gap to 1'12 with 10 kilometers to go, many riders were completely empty after a very hard chase.

Finally the breakaway did not make it, they looked at each other too much and too early. The pack still had resources and they got caught with 7 kilometers left.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s04/PCM0005_zpscd9d3b62.jpg

The stage got concluded by a non expected mass sprint, Katusha and RusVelo did not had the time to set their sprint Trains and Davide Vigano ( CJR) profited of that to take a great victory. he podium is completed by two IAM riders, Luka Mezgec is 4th.

That stage went quite good for me, I had not the best sensations at the start and this is why I did not took part in the sprint.
Tomorrow is the Mountain Stage, Chad Haga is our best hope there and we will see what I can do.

Tour de Pologne

Stage 5

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0005_zps9c9ff5c3.jpg

I'm not taking many risk by saying that it was the hardest stage of the race, the succession of hard climbs in the finish was really painful and the pace was very high.

But first congratulation to Fredrik Ludvigsson who, once again, was in the breakaway to defend his KoM jersey, he was off with 6 other riders whose names are not very important.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s05/PCM0001_zps00762633.jpg

With 60 kilometers, two guys decided to accelerate, Jonathan Fumeaux ( IAM) and Brian Bach Vandborg ( CAN) made the show today but there hopes of making a descent result were quite low.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s05/PCM0002_zpsf2fa6328.jpg

The two riders might had a moment of hope when 4 riders joined them, Stefan Küng ( IAM), Mikhail Ignatiev ( KAT), Evgeniy Shalunov ( KAT) and Alexis Vuillermoz ( ALM) did leave the pack for a moment but the reaction was almost instantaneous so they brought all the pack in there wheel.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s05/PCM0003_zpscdb1e9f3.jpg

With 20 kilometers 20, everyone was reunited, attacks were coming from every sides and RusVelo riders were controling the pace of the pack.
It was hard to follow but with the help of Johannes Fröhlinger I had some energy saved.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s05/PCM0005_zps2b4176d2.jpg

Last 6,4 kilometers, Chad Haga enters the last climb first as the road was very narrow, I was not far from him but I had to do a little efforts not to be blocked by a Katusha rider completely empty.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s05/PCM0006_zpsedb07185.jpg

During the last climb, we let the team mates of the leader make the pace.
With Chad, none of us had enough energy to go for an attack so we waited, I was a bit frustrated but this was not my terrain, I was not use to do that well on a mountain climb.

Then came the last kilometers, the leader had cracked but one of his team mate did not, the victory went to another rider from RusVelo ; Kirill Pozdnyakov ( RVL) took the stage in front of Kirill Sveshnikov ( TSB) and Marek Rutkiewicz ( CCC).

Chad ended 6th and I took the 7th position.

The race is not over, there are two stages left, I know that it will be hard to enter the top 3 but we will try.
My performance today was quite surprising as I would never had believe making a top 10 in such a difficult finish especially after only 4 days of racing.

Spoiler
That stage did not want to work in 3D mode so I was forced to simulate it.

That stage went quite well for me, despite the breakaway making it till the end and Manuele Boaro ( TSB) taking the leadership, I managed to move up to the second position thanks to the help of Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg ( GNT).

Stage 7

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/PCM0007_zps012eaa92.jpg

After my good performance during stage 6, I was leading both young and points classification, which mean that expect the overall and team ranking, all the classification were led by the team.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s07/PCM0001_zpse8ac1cb0.jpg

5 riders managed to get away, but this time we would not them take too much advantages on us, we let them a maximum gap of 3'50. Even though the riders were not very dangerous in the GC, this was our last chance to bring a stage victory.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s07/PCM0004_zps80d6a62a.jpg

And this is why we spent most of our time at the front of the pack led by a Reinardt Janse Van Rensburg ( GNT) stronger than ever. He did most of the chase on his own before being helped by riders of RusVelo and Lampre - Colombia.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s07/PCM0005_zps7be19aa6.jpg

After being brought to the front by Nikias Arndt ( GNT), Luka and I were ready for the sprint. I was leading him toward the sprint using the split stream of other teams, but we jknew we were stronger than the others.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s07/PCM0006_zpsacf3585f.jpg

By doing so we had the surprised effect, no one think of taking Luka's wheel and when I launched the sprint, the others were already far behind. I let him the way when I had done my job it was now him against the rest.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/01%20Pologne/s07/PCM0008_zps7b48420a.jpg

Of course after a perfect lead out like that Cool it would only take the stage and he did it with class, surpassing the other sprinters, I was so happy that his victory also became mine Grin

If you would have told me that I would end in the top 3 of that race I think I would have laugh but now that this is real I'm really looking for the rest of the race, I will have huge expectation for the Eneco Tour and for the classics that follow.

Anthony Louveille.

Great 2nd position for Louveille in Poland. Somehow, his name always reminds me of Renaud Lavillenie and i always read it like that. Grin

@sutty68: Oh yeah I am proud, even if the field was not the strongest, a second position in a WT race is always a good result even if that one will be forgotten by many people Rolling Eyes

@24sebaf1: Thanks, I did my best to achieve that Grin and Warren podium was such a relief for the team Wink

Eneco Tour

The Squad:

John Degenkolb
Dries Devenyns
Marcel Kittel
Anthony Louveille
Fredrik Ludvigsson
Tobias Ludvigsson
Ramon Sinkeldam
Tom Stamsnijder

Pre-Race;

Contrary to what I thought, this race is not really designed for me, a ling time trial many flat stages and very few hills or cobbles. I will have a chance to shine only during the last stage which has some cobbles near the finish but the presence of Fabian Cancellara ( TFR), Tom Boonen ( OPQ), Zdenek Stybar ( OPQ) or Niki Terpstra ( OPQ) to name few will make my task a lot harder.

Stage 1

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/PCM0001_zpsdd51894c.jpg

First stage, we had two of the best sprinters in our team, we had to take part in the chase. Luckily we were not alone, Cannondale and Balkin worked a lot with us today.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/s01/PCM0008_zpsca692581.jpg

Of course Fredrik Ludvigsson was not chasing ghost, 5 men escaped the pack at the very beginning of the stage. There was my former team mate Yoann Offredo ( FDJ) who could have been very dangerous since is very powerful on flat terrain.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/s01/PCM0009_zps5f56396d.jpg

I could not resist to show you that picture of the peloton riding on that bridge, beautiful Grin We had the chance of not having too much wind because it would have been a disaster otherwise.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/s01/PCM0010_zpsde02f319.jpg

The sprint was not that sure, since the dutch rider Niki Terpstra ( NED) decided to accelerate with 5 kilometers to go. He was powerful but the wind was playing against him.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/s01/PCM0011_zps50a7ac15.jpg

Few meters after Niki Terpstra joined back the peloton, it was Tobias Ludvigsson who wanted to try something, the same result as Terpstra, ha was fighting against the wind.

i1272.photobucket.com/albums/y382/Axel_Choteau/Anthony/2015/02%20Eneco/s01/PCM0012_zps3430f7b9.jpg

It finally came to a mass sprint where I was supposed to launched Marcel and John, Marcel never managed to get my wheel and he "failed" to 5th place.
John on the contrary, used perfectly my split stream, but he felt against a very strong Matthew Harley Goss ( OGE).

What we can recall of that first stage is that our sprinters are in good shape, they might get a victory before the end of the race.
On my side, I will focus on the final stage, the team time trial tomorrow will be a real test for the team and it will be decisive about my potential GC hopes.

@SSJ2Luigi: If the finish line was 5 meters further, he would have been the winner Angry

@sutty68: Sometimes luck is not on your side Wink

The two stages ended in a mass sprint won both by Mark Cavendish ( OPQ). John or Marcel did not managed to do better than in the first stage.

The automatics with the sprinters are not completely there yet, we still have to work to make them win a stage.
The time trial of the 6th stage will be a big test for me, to see if I can compete in the GC.
