Tour de France - Seperate Rankings Spoiler These rankings have been calculated based only on riders placed inside the top 20 (top 5 for young riders) after either the Tour or the Giro and thus it doesn't include all riders as each number has to be calculated manually (the export doesn't allow to subtract the time differences)
General Classification
The trip through France was extremely close in the top 3. Nibali kept the jersey, but in fact Alberto Contador was the fastest rider through France. Will he be able to continue his good run through Spain?
1 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | - 27'' | 2 | Vincenzo Nibali | Astana Pro Team | - | 3 | Chris Froome | Sky Froome | + 5'' |
Spoiler 4 | Samuel Sánchez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | + 3'42'' | 5 | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Wiggins | + 4'13'' | 6 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Sharp | + 6'27'' | 7 | Joaquím Rodríguez | Katusha Team | + 6'36'' | 8 | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 7'09'' | 9 | Andy Schleck | RadioShack - Leopard | + 8'14'' | 10 | Robert Gesink | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | + 8'59'' | 11 | Sergio Henao | Sky Wiggins | + 9'05'' | 12 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | + 11'07'' | 13 | Michele Scarponi | Lampre - Merida | + 11'56'' | 14 | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | + 12'33'' | 15 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | + 12'38'' | 16 | Domenico Pozzovivo | AG2R La Mondiale | + 12'43'' | 17 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ | + 16'51'' | 18 | Fränk Schleck | RadioShack - Leopard | + 18'57'' | 19 | Pierre Rolland | Team Europcar | + 23'16'' | 20 | Rigoberto Urán | Sky Froome | + 29'28'' | 21 | Daniel Martin | Garmin - Sharp | + 33'17'' | 22 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto Belisol | + 1h16'56'' |
Points Classification
For a long time the points jersey have been a battle between Nibali and Cavendish. Nibbles held it in Milan while Cav holds the jersey in Paris. That doesn't get him this award though as Sagan has actually picked up more points in the last three weeks than the Manx-man
1 | Peter Sagan | Cannondale Pro Cycling | 247 | 2 | Mark Cavendish | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step | 234 | 3 | John Degenkolb | Team Argos - Shimano | 219 |
Spoiler 4 | Matthew Goss | Orica - GreenEdge | 205 | 5 | André Greipel | Lotto Belisol | 177 | 6 | Vincenzo Nibali | Astana Pro Team | 154 | 7 | Tom Boonen | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | 126 | 8 | Philippe Gilbert | BMC Racing Team | 123 | 9 | Christophe Kern | Team Europcar | 118 | 10 | Fabian Cancellara | RadioShack - Leopard | 116 | 11 | David Millar | Garmin - Sharp | 113 | 12 | Lieuwe Westra | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | 111 | 13 | Thomas Peterson | Team Argos - Shimano | 107 | 14 | Joaquím Rodríguez | Katusha Team | 95 | 15 | Moreno Moser | Cannondale Pro Cycling | 94 | 16 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | 93 | 17 | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Wiggins | 92 | 18 | Chris Froome | Sky Froome | 88 | 19 | Edvald Boasson Hagen | Sky Froome | 79 | 20 | Cadel Evans | BMC Racing Team | 70 | 21 | Samuel Sánchez | Euskaltel - Euskadi | 51 | 22 | Tony Martin | Omega Pharma - Quick·Step Cycling Team | 41 | 23 | Ryder Hesjedal | Garmin - Sharp | 41 | 24 | Alejandro Valverde | Movistar Team | 37 | 25 | Andy Schleck | RadioShack - Leopard | 22 | 26 | Jurgen Van den Broeck | Lotto Belisol | 5 | 27 | Michele Scarponi | Lampre - Merida | 2 |
Mountain Classification
Another competition led by NIbali in Milan, but lost in France. Contador has the honour of wearing teh dots while chasing yellow, but surprisingly it's Italian veteran Ivan Basso who has picked up most mountain points in these last 21 stage.
1 | Ivan Basso | Cannondale Pro Cycling | 59 | 2 | Alberto Contador | Team Saxo - Tinkoff | 49 | 3 | Pieter Weening | Orica - GreenEdge | 48 |
Spoiler 4 | Marco Pinotti | BMC Racing Team | 47 | 5 | Eduard Vorganov | Katusha Team | 42 | 6 | Thomas Peterson | Team Argos - Shimano | 40 | 7 | Francis De Greef | Lotto Belisol | 37 | 8 | Mikel Nieve | Euskaltel - Euskadi | 34 | 9 | Cameron Meyer | Orica - GreenEdge | 33 | 10 | Mikel Astarloza | Euskaltel - Euskadi | 32 | 11 | Vincenzo Nibali | Astana Pro Team | 25 | 12 | Sandy Casar | FDJ | 25 | 13 | Christophe Kern | Team Europcar | 24 | 14 | Joaquím Rodríguez | Katusha Team | 21 | 15 | Matthias Frank | BMC Racing Team | 20 | 16 | Dominik Nerz | BMC Racing Team | 18 | 17 | Chris Froome | Sky Froome | 17 | 18 | Johnny Hoogerland | Vacansoleil - DCM Pro Cycling Team | 17 | 19 | Laurens Ten Dam | Blanco Pro Cycling Team | 11 | 20 | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Wiggins | 4 |
Young Riders Classification
This pretty fast became a two-horse race between Van Garderen and Pinot. Tejat lost a lot of time protecting Evans in Italy, but got a lot more freedom in France allowing him to win more than three minutes on Thibaut.
1 | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | - 3'18'' | 2 | Thibaut Pinot | FDJ | 0 | 3 | Andrew Talansky | Garmin - Sharp | + 20'04'' |
Competition Time
Once again marcovdw was the best, though this time SSJ2Luigi matched completely. Then again he failed to make it another perfect round
As I will be gone untill next tuesday/wednesday you will have plenty of time to make your bets for the next round (Stage 1-7 of the 2012 Vuelta)
1. Who will be in the GC lead after stage 49? (2 pts)
2. How many times will any of the jerseys change owner (1 pt per change, but a minimum of 2 pts awarded for a correct answer)
3. Will one of the teams with no wins get one (Euskaltel, Lampre, AG2R, Europcar, FDJ) (2 pts)

No insult intended, but just slightly surpsrising that no one has been able to actually beat Marcovdw. To be fair you actually tied with him for the whole Tour de France though!

I don't understand question 2... Do we need to give a number or a jersey?
And btw, where am I? Very far away from Marco, no?

A number. Say the mountain jersey changes owner twice and the points jersey three times that would make the correct answer 5 (2+3). In this case a correct answer would be awarded five points. If no jersey change owner or tehre is only one change and you guess that the reward woill still be 2 points.
Everyone is far from Marco, but the battle for second is still quite close with you SSJ2Luigi and rogvi97 within four points.
PCM rulezz: He is (narrowly) in the lead of the overall points competition. Sagan got the most points in the Tour, but Cavendish got a lot more in the Giro. I expect he will have a hard tiem defending it against Nibali though...

rogvi: Anything is possible when you have faith and dare take a chance or two. If anything that was the lesson Contador taught us in the real 2012 Vuelta..

Stage 43: Pamplona – Pamplona (TTT)
Real life: Movistar won ahead of Omega Pharma - Quickstep and Rabobank
Movistar is first to set of in their home country. 22'06'' is the time to beat for the others.
With the world ITT champion, the Slovakian and the French TT-champions and being defending world TTT-champions Omega Pharma – QuickStep are expected to put in a great effort today. And they do so by beating Movistar with 17 seconds. Now they just have to wait for the last 20 teams to cross the line...
Froome needs his team to do brilliantly today for him to get back in the game. Not quite fast enough for a stage win, but provisional 2nd 3 seconds slower than QuickStep certainly puts the pressure on the rest of the GC teams!
Garmin – Sharp usually does well in TTT's and today they get provisional 3rd in goal.
Andy Schleck and the rest of his RadioShack – Leopard team have had a slightly disappointing race this far, but today they surprise everyone by setting new best time in 21'43''
Having pretty much lost their chances in the GC Sky Wiggins are determined to take the stage away from RadioShack.
But then they should have ridden faster...
Contador is aiming for the top of he podium in Madrid and his team should be strong enough for him to win some time on Nibali today.
Contador do win some time on Nibali, but only four seconds.
