YANK$ not welcome anywhere!
Thank god (or Broughton, Ayre and Purslow) those two lying money grabbing c-words are gone.
Edit: By yanks I mean Hicks and Gillett. Not the new guys

The new guys have done very well in Boston, so we'll see. Also, for anyone who thinks the fact that the NESV guys aren't Liverpool fans and bought this as a business investment is a problem, I should note something. The same was true when they bought the Red Sox. That can hardly be said now, as John Henry attends pretty much every game and all of them are huge fans. |

That sounds encouraging. Many Liverpool fans aren't convinced about more American owners, but we shouldn't judge them just because of what happened before them. I'm just relieved that Hicks and Gillett have gone. |

I have great belief in the new owners. I think what they did for the Red Sox speaks very well in their favour. They expanded Fenway park in stead of building a new stadium because the fans were very attached to the old arena. Nice to know they take the fan base seriously.
I am also happy that Liverpool didn't get at sugar daddy in the sense that they will make sound long term investments in stead of buying every player on the market a la Man City.

Yeah, from what I gether through the Liverpool forums I'm on, not a lot wanted a sugar daddy. Fans just want someone to come in and run the club properly, done correctly and Liverpool would be self sufficient. That goes for the majority of Premier League clubs too. Something put the wind up me recently and that was Man United's books. If they didn't have all the loans to pay off too, then they'd crush everyone in the profit margin.
On the stadium front, it looks like any interested parties were not so willing to fork out the money for it, hence why it was said they were looking at redeveloping Anfield. I can tell you the vast majority of fans I know don't want to leave either. The problem is that Liverpool council have the idea od the new stadium in Stanley Park and the redevelopment of the site where Anfield sits now. However John Henry and NESV might be able to convince them that there's other options. |

Being from Boston, the biggest thing John Henry and NESV have done is stay out of the way.
They identified smart baseball people and have allowed the baseball operations to be run by those people. For me, this is the best thing an owner can do in any sport. |

As if to end this game, John Henry is at Slaughter & May's office where the board meeting is taking place. |

FFS. How on earth can a Texas judge stop a sale in England?

The lawyers are going to try and sort this, as written by David Maddock in the Daily Mirror
Their case will revolve around jurisdiction. Legal experts are lining up to suggest that the case Hicks filed yesterday is flimsy, and the question of the jurisdiction of the Texas court over proceedings that have already been considered by the High Court in London is key to dismissing it.
They will make a strong legal argument that the case should not be heard in Texas or anywhere else in the US.
They will also present evidence that Hicks and Gillett have offered written undertakings in contracts signed with the RBS that ensures the ‘legal forum’ of any dispute will be held in the English courts. That effectively means they can not sue in the US.

Justice Floyd puts an injunction on Hicks and Gillett's attempts to sue and says
This case has nothing to do with Texas.

OK then will try and sue but I'm delighted they've finally gone. Going to relax a bit now (last few days have been hard). Optimistic for the future now but we (Liverpool fans) have a right to some caution. |

At these times I can never help wonder how differently history would've gone if Liverpool hadn't told Mourinho to go take a hike when he offered himself to them back in 2004....

The ref really screwed up at Nani's goal. I've seldom seen such a weird goal. |

Nani's goal was a major mistake by the ref. Does anyone know how bad Van der Vaart's injury is?
