Plus it's a bit ridiculous, when there are plenty of nice mountains within a 50 km radius.
The good news is that in the Future Alpe d'Huez will be able to be climbed without necessarily hosting the finish.
I checked it on bikely (and in my hazy memories ), and the loop is about 49 km long, from the bottom of Alpe d'Huez to the top, then descend Sarrene and come back to the bottom of the Alpe. |

They'll be grateful that it's Alpe d'Huez+ Alpe d'Huez instead of Galibier + Alpe d'Huez.

Galibier might be harder on paper, but the very first slopes of Alpe d'Huez are an absolute killer, psychologically. Pan flat then you hit the hardest percentage (or very close to them) on a straight line, so all you see is basically an infinite road with an insane slope.
Twice ? No thanks. |

On paper?

Galibier is one of the biggest mothafuckas in cycling. You just don't mess with him.

Hm... If they climb the Alp D'Huez twice it will be epic, plus with a finish on Mont Ventoux. Looking to be an epic Tour 2013, let's hope I'm not wrong! |

Lampre will become Lampre-Meridia for next year, with Meridia (obviously) becoming the team's bike sponsor.
I don't think this is old news, I apologize if it is. |

RIP Victor Cabedo, sad news that i read coming from holiday.
And good luck Cannondale Pro cycling team, i hope Peter will get some needed support in 2013, the team is talented but not great in depth.
And yes, Alpe d'Huez + Ventoux x2 please!

The original Oscar the Cat confirms his retirement is for real this time.
We're left with the italian knockoff.

Well, I prefer a world champion that rides the next year, instead of 1 that retires.....
But still a fantastic career for Freire, so a big thank you!

Farewell Oscarito! You will be missed, at least we have Sagan and Degenkolb to remind us of versatile sprinters.

Argos Shimano won`t ride the Tour of Beijing due to the political issue between Japan and China. So they won`t use their wildcard.
In other news Andy Schleck still plans to be back this year.
Binche-Tournai-Binche is supposed to be his next race. |
