Still well done by Westra...
He gave Wiggins a hell of a lot more competition than the arrogant British credited him for
I do hope that was British people who are arrogant not that British people are arrogant...
Quite a good race in the end. Could have done with a tougher stage yesterday.

Ofcourse the first. There were some, like RJC who were offended by the idea of Westra beating Wiggins in a time trial. While in the end it was very very close! |

Yeah, he's a real turn-up for the books and made it a more interesting race - he must feel a bit of a dick for sitting up and celebrating at Mende though.

It would not have made a difference, as is clear by now. Wiggins was the best. Westra a very very close second. |

Isn't there something called the power of the yellow jersey? He may well have been able to get it in Mende...

Nah, no way he lost 6" with that. More like 2-3".

Fair enough, just seeing what I read in the reports, wasn't able to watch it.

There is nothing fairer than an uphill time trial in my opinion. And there it showed Wiggins was 2 seconds faster. So that's it then ;-) |

Totally agree ruben, but i must admit that at one stage Westra looked the more powerful rider |

De Gendt says Taaramaë pissed him off by attacking on the last climb after first not working on the climb. De Gendt then rode up to him and ask why he did that, no answer. And then again Taaramäe attacked behind de Gendt's back. Now De Gendt was seriously pissed because he just wanted to work with Taaramae till after the climb, but now he was so mad that he just countered and left him.
Don't understand why Taaramäe made life so much harder for himself by attacking
Fair questions..but this is Taaramäe. Even when it looks little stupid to atack 60km before finish..and specialy when you are clearly weaker..at least in that day. Best defence is atack..even stupid one. |

I can see quite a few riders disagreeing on that.
Great finish to P-N that and well done to Wiggins, even though most of the extra media cover he'll get in the UK will make me cringe. |

Kudos for conceding "defeat" of a kind with grace
Westra did very very well, and had me on the edge of my seat for a while! Hopefully he'll be able to repeat the performance elsewhere.

Yeah, hope he rides another one of those one week races so well. Certainly not Pais Vasco as he is riding Flanders.
Kinda think of it, with Flanders being as hilly as it is in the new edition, he might actually have a chance there. Although he had his peak here...so it's hard to keep that form |

Been mentioned that Valverde is top of the WT individual rankings, I thought the Movistar team don't get his points because he is returning from a ban!

As far as I know, that rule didn't exist when he got suspended. Therefore it doesn't apply in his case, hence his points.

Apparently Boonen is mad at Movistar for doing a 'Leopard - Trek' after Leipheimer crashed. |

Yeah, Thomas and Wiggins whined about it as well. Can't really agree with people who complain because others race.

Great battle yesterday, maybe Westra had the might to steal the race at Mende, but Wiggo is the deserved winner as the better TT. Now i am looking for how Vacansoleil will handle April, they have great results and riders so far this year

As long as they don't start racing for no obvious reason right after the riders caught in the crash have been identified, that is. |
