I could cycle past any hill without significant difficulty in my years as a cyclist. Yet when I got dropped during races, it was always on hills...
(Ok, it's not that true or simple, as I fell, punctured, etc. and I could have picked anyone else as an example)
A hill is as difficult as your opponents makes it for you, or you for your opponents. It just gives opportunities to create differences, as there's much less slipstream effect when you ride slow than when you ride fast (flat, descents, etc.). |

The Cauberg is easy, but it always comes after a hard race in the Amstel Gold Race and thefore creates differences.
In the World Championships, this will also be the case. So again, it will create differences and possibilities to attack. |

Well the first part of the hill is not hard and you think then that it goes less up hill because your already at 11% but when you go trough the 1st curve till the 2nd the average of procents even goes up to 13% so many riders will underestimate this part

So concluded: not the toughest hill in the world, but tough enough to create some gaps in a road race of 250km when the hill has to be climbed 15-17 (???) times. Together with the Bemelerberg (is it in the parcours of the WC again?), the climbs will make sure that it won't be a mass sprint next year in the WC, and that only the good puncheurs can go for the title.

Just 10 laps on the 16.5k hilly circuit. There's 100k normal racing before that, but there will be some hills in there as well.
