Well ... I think it's a good place to Farrar since, despite his good form, the land was not entirely beneficial.
That the French riders are very strong here I think is normal.
Good luck for the next stage mate

4th isn't that bad for Farrar in a uphill finish
I hope to see Sanchez on the podium in Nice |

French sprinters were pretty impressive there. Farrar will nab a stage though

Thanks.
Two more sprint stages for Farrar, so not that many chances to nab a stage. His form is pretty good but so is the form of some of them obviously.
More important for us to have Sanchez up there in the end.
Paris - Nice Stage 2
Montfort-l'Amaury - Amilly
A pretty flat stage and much more suitable for the pure sprinters than yesterdays finish. So maybe Farrar can improve today?
On the other hand other fast men like Hutarovich also take profit here.
5 riders in the break. Omega with 2 in there, so a nice tactical advantage for them.
Blythe, Reynes (Omega), Mortensen (Leopard), Sergent (Shack) and Klostergaard (Saxo Bank). Two Danes but no French rider or even a rider from a French team. Pretty unusual for Paris Nice.
Lots of different teams like Euskaltel, Farnese, Lampre, Quickstep and Sky are showing their colours in the front of the peloton, but the pace is still pretty low and so the advance is moving towards 10min.
Time for Quickstep to higher the pace with Maes and Stybar. Also race leader Tom Boonen is showing his jersey in the first rows. He should maybe go back a bit to avoid the heavy wind. On the other hand he is an experienced classic rider and knows how to ride with a strong wind.
With 25km to go it`s again Jimmy Casper with a strong attack. Together with Sergent and Klostergaard he is forming the new group now with the other riders falling back.
But with 10km to go also these 3 are back in the peloton. Sky is now forming a big train of 6 riders for Bennati. Behind them all other big names.
With 3km to go it`s still Cummings and Thomas ahead of Bennati. Bozic, Fernandez, Gatto, Boonen and Farrar coming next.
Out of nowhere Romain Feillu accelerated and overtakes the whole train. Farrar, who wanted to take his wheel is totally blocked now as Graeme Brown moved next to him. So he has to wait for Boonen to make his move.
And this move came surely too late. The first sprinters in the train started to accelerate and created a small gap.
So it`s Astana`s Fernandez, who overtakes Bozic and Bennati to win this stage. Bennati really failed here after the great team work for him.
Farrar`s 7th was the maximum after being totally blocked but still ahead of Tom Boonen today, who loses the lead to the Spaniard.

Things will get better in next stage At least, a Top-10 for Farrar, which is not that bad when being blocked..

It's a shame about the blocking of Tyler. When you run out of American opportunity. Hopefully LLS may have more success when it is their land. Sure does not disappoint
Good luck mate.

@MitchNL: I never played a GT with PCM11, but I hope for more than a top 10 in the Vuelta actually.
I thought you are going to use him as 2nd Vuelta climber behind Dan Martin, Hesjedal or Stetina, seems like you don't.

Thanks for all the comments. I really hope for a better result on the 3rd stage. It`s the hardest of the 3 with a hill before the finish, not sure how hard this one will be.
@sutty68: Not really. A day in yellow would be nice, on the other hand I would be forced to do the pace a lot on the hard stages. So don`t count on it.
@MitchNL: Sanchez will be our leader there. He will have strong support in Stetina, Roche, Vansummeren etc. but Stetina is weaker in hills and especially in time trials and Roche is just 73 mo and 79 hill.
I just tried to play the 3rd stage but the game somehow crashed before the stage started and I had no "motivation" to start again.
Quite a lot to do at the moment for university and other stuff plus not being at home half the weekend. So not totally sure if I play and report another stage beforehead, but probably I will have some time on Friday.
But luckily the Giro wildcards were announced, so a small overview over the teams.
All 18 Pro Tour Teams are secured to take part but 4 PCT Teams will get the chance to ride the first GT of the year.
8 teams announced their interest to participate in the Giro 2013, which will be an extremely tough one. Most teams could have been expected but there are also some surprises.
Colnago is surely no surprise and was one of the big teams in the last seasons. Mollema might be a top 5 contender as also Pozzovivo. Sprinter Modolo might be able to grab a stage win here, too. Maybe the team with the biggest chance to get a spot.
Farnese Vini won`t have a real top 20 contender but in Visconti and Failli they have two good stage hunters on hilly terrain. And Gatto and Guardini don`t have to hide in the sprint stages. As Italian team I think they should get a spot.
Geox is also interested in a wild card. Jose Rujano showed in the last 2 seasons, that he is able to get a top5 in this race but also riders like Cobo, Valls, Duarte or Sastre can perform well on hard terrain. Lots of high quality climbers here so missing a really big sprinter might be not that important. And Kump can surely sprint on the podium on harder stages. On such a variant surely a good candidate for another spot.
Acqua & Sapone will be another Italian team with high interests. But with Garzelli not being a high GC contender it will be harder for them now. Sella and J.Moreno might be the better chance for a top 15. Their biggest advantage might be their Italian star sprinter Napolitano, who surely can fight for some stage wins. But probably they have to fight for the 4th spot with
Saur Soyasun. The All French team definitely has great riders to do well here like Coppel, Rolland or Hivert for the mountains and Feillu for the sprints. But you never know, who is participating in what form.
BMC with former Giro podium rider Leipheimer might have outsider chances as they don`t have the best climbers and also not the best sprinters. Therefore they could send a team with a good depth and in Santambrogio, Quinziato and Santaromita also 3 Italians with good chances in the breakaways.
Caja Rural surely with low outsider chances. In Herrada and Galdos just average riders for the mountains and sprints and no depth at all. So not too sure about them.
Same counts for United Health Care with Larsson and Sutherland with low chances on a top 15 and Förster, Menzies for some top10 results in the sprints. Quite unlikely to be honest.
So coming to the surprises.
Where is Androni? Sure. It`s not longer Scarponi riding for them but they always did well in the past. Big punch for Ginanni, Bertolini and Swift for sure.
Also Skil with Serpa, Ciolek and Van Hummel could have been expected here as the De Rosa team with JJ Haedo or Type 1 with the Efimkin brothers, who did extremely well here in the last years.
The French teams Cofidis and Europcar probably save their race days for the Tour. |

I will play all the 2011 versions this season as I never played them before in the pcm10 story. So actually it might be a great variant for Dan Martin if his low regeneration stat won't become a too big problem. |
