May, 20th, 2012

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-1.jpg

David's Plan:
Today, I have to try and get as many points as I can in the KoM classification if I want to win it because tommorow is the Solvang TT and the day after that is Mt. Badly. What makes it much more difficult is that if I get in the break the peloton will probably try and catch the breakaway before the final climbs, or else theres a chance the break could stay clear.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-2.jpg
Early on in the stage, I took my chances to break clear, but obviously Radioshack are trying to defend for Chris Horner who is only a few points down on me in the KoM's so I was unable to escape. However, it was not a very dangerous break and they were given a lot of time, as we see them hit the coastal highway travelling south away from the beautiful city of Seaside, where many celebrities live (Clint Eastwood I believe is one).

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-3.jpg
Further down the Coast on our way to Santa Rosa, the team have noticed that no one is doing any work, and the gap from the BOTD to the peloton has hit 11 minutes, so we sent Cummings and Hunt to the front.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-4.jpg
At the bottom of the first categorized climb, I made my move and luckily enough, I was given the go-ahead by Radioshack to get as much as a 3 minute gap by the top.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-5.jpg
In the valley between the two climbs I see my target, the first group on the road only 1 minute ahead with 3km to the top of the climb.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-6.jpg
I passed them, and I just held off the peloton, to gain 5 more points in the KoM race, now only 1 behind Cummings.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-7.jpg
And while I tried to make my move on the descent, it was Haussler who ended up clearing the peloton. Certainly his 10 second gap wouldn't hold up in the final km.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen5-8.jpg
But funny enough it did. And what a solo effort that was. Congrats to him. Meanwhile I happily finished in the 1st group and held on to my lead in the Under 25 Competition.

Thanks, theres no hiding it, he's going for the KoM, but it will be very hard as its just Mt. Baldy and one flat stage left with KoM points available, and Horner will get lots of KoM points likely on the top of Baldy.

Did you already try to play Mt. Baldy-stage? I guess it won't work - at least it didn't for me and roturn, too, if I remember right Wink You may have to replace this stage by another, similar mountain-stage.

I haven't played it yet, but thanks for the heads up. Hopefully it does work, but if it doesn't which stage do you suggest I replace it with?

Thanks.

I took a mountain-stage from Tour of Utah.. stage 6, I think. With summit finish. But who knows: maybe Baldy works for you Wink Anyway: good luck with David!

@Mresuperstar: Haha yes, I'll try, I haven't looked at the Utah stage though. I might not have much time to play today, as I'm doing lots of work, and found a nice roster update for Madden 10 which has updated rosters for this season.

Wow, really like your story. Just started reading, it's really good. I have developed a fondness for David Veillux now!
Also, do you have an especially good graphics card or something? My PC has a very good GC but my screens never look as good as yours. I really love these ones..

Mine look like PCM 06 compared to these!

Thanks a lot, I need all the followers I can get, as it wont appeal to the viewers as much anymore, that its in PCM 10.

Thanks, I actually dont have the best GC, sometimes you can see pixelations on thr riders legs, and sometimes stuff just looks weird, but I just try the best that I can to get nice screenshots.

Next stage will be up in an hour or so.

May, 21st, 2012

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-1.jpg

David's Plan:
Seeing as this is my strongest discipline, I hop to have a good run, on what has become a legendary TT for the Tour of California. No doubt the Danes will be extra motivated to do well today as Solvang is like a mini Denmark, right in the middle of the Golden State. For me today, I dont want to lose my Youth classification lead to anyone, luckily my closest competitor is Eddy Boss who is over 3 minutes down. Still I hope for a good ride, and of course want to gain time on GC riders within distance. For this stage, Denis Menchov, Levi Leipheimer and Lars Bak seem to be the favourites, but Rogers could sneak in there.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-2.jpg
Stephen Cummins starts out as the 3rd Sky rider. He sets out one of the fastest times, one which will help me later on.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-3.jpg
Now its Boasson Hagen's turn. In his beautiful Norwegian National Champion shirt, he sets out the fastest time at the Intermediate Time check, signs of things to come maybe?

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-4.jpg
As he crosses the line, he finishes in 2nd place currently, but eventually he would slip down to 19th. Still a nice result for him, as he's getting close to the Norwegian TT Champs again only being just over a month away.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-5.jpg
Now its our best hope today, Rogers. Rogers, is starting right ahead of me, so it was nice to see him and I could follow how fast he was going, and that probably helped me, for my time.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-6.jpg
So there I go. Down the ramp. Left, right, left right. They say, that time trials are the most difficult thing to be successful at, because its requires the largest amount of focus from the mind. Today I felt like I was having a good day.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-7.jpg
Rogers, set the new fastest time at the Time Check, but it appeared as though he as slowing on the descent. Hopefully he could hold on, as he's the virtual leader of the stage.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-8.jpg
There, I'm halfway there, but now lies the tricky section and the descent, where only the best bike handlers will gain time. I'm hoping for a few lucky bends, or else I might have to correct my line going into the corners.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-9.jpg
Now done with the dreadful descent, I race into Solvang, where I lunge for the line as best I can. Clearly not a winning time, but I'm proud for myself. Later I learn I finished only 20 seconds off Rogers, who lost his advantage on the descent, finishing 11th on the day.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen6-10.jpg
And now Levi, possibly the favourite for the stage, he comes out quick on the climb, but again he isn't quick enough on the descent. The rider who silently won the stage though was Denis Menchov, who tied Leipheimers time.

Great TT ride. How's the young classification looking? Just a thought, but will you implement Canadian championships, cause that would be awesome to see David go for the championship jersey and Hopefull wear it for the rest of the season.

David is over 3 minutes ahead of Boasson Hagen, who is 1 minute ahead of the next guy, so its pretty much secured unless David loses lots of time tommorow.

I was actually thinking of adding the Canadian Championships, but I'm not exactly sure how. I'd have to look around on how to do that first.
Still thanks.

I Love this story. I Saw this today and read all 18 pages. David is a good young rider. i do hope he can win the KoM classification, but i think chris horner will win it.

Thank you, its comments like this that keep me going Pfft

And in both the Mt. Baldy stage and the Tour of Utah Stage 6, both dont have KoM points on the Mountain top finish so thats good news for David.

May, 22nd, 2012

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-1.jpg

David's Plan:
Were on to the Queen stage now, and its looking like a real tough one too. Unfortunately there was a huge storm last night and lots of trees have fallen down at the bottom of Mt. Baldy so we have to take a different way of getting onto the climb at the beginning. Of course for me there is no doubt, I will try my best to get into the breakaway, and grab the last KoM points of the tour.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-2.jpg
There I am with Pozzato. We were the only two to break away after a large group of 18 initially broke clear.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-3.jpg
On the first climb Alexandr Efimkin, attacked and slowly made it up to our group. He was insistent on going so fast, that Pozzato was dropped. Anyway in the KoM sprint I edged Efimkin and took 16 points, putting me in the virtual lead.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-4.jpg
On the last KoM of the day, I narrowly beat Efimkin after he decided to lift the pace. I only got 6 points to his 4, but at this point every KoM point counts.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-5.jpg
Halfway up Mt. Baldy, Cadel Evans and Denis Menchov decide to have a go, as the pass Efimkin and I. Rogers is also having a tough day, and since he's a nice guy, he decided to pace me up the mountain so I could keep my Under 25 lead.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-6.jpg
Evans went solo to the line ahead of Niemiec, but Horner held on to his overall lead, and should win tommorow.

i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad25/kesler1234/amgen7-7.jpg
Meanwhile I'm in something like the 5th group on the road, and I'm really struggling but I manage to continue and cross the line with Rogers. My legs are saying "finally no more mountains" but I decided against a Robbie McEwen wheelie.
