Cyanide havent thought about very extreme level for players like you . Really nice job.
Well, you still have the chance to macke extreme even harder. Just changing one line in the DB and the AI will be better than just 104% of the normal stats.
You are totally dominating the Giro so far. Schleck is doing awesome things. Gerdemann is very strong, too. Bennati wins the flat and hilly stages...

@anderspcm: Thanks!
@roturn: Yes, I know that. I wrote in the last report that I have edited that now. Next stage shouldn't include Leopard domination.

@roturn: I'm not sure, but I think I raised it by ~1-2, so 1.05-1.06. I don't want to raise it too much at one time, as that might make it too extreme.

15.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 7
Chieti > Blockhaus: 81.0km
Eight riders broke away just after the start today. The most notable riders in it were: Pluchkin (Katusha), Cummings (Sky) and Tjallingii (Rabobank). Bertolini (Androni) and Mazzanti (Farnese) attacked later and joined these riders.
As we started the final climb, the breakaway was 8 minutes ahead. The pace in the pack was really slow, so Pires attacked. As he was 8th overall, we hoped that some teams would speed up the pace in the pack to catch Pires.
Just as I thought, the pace immediately speeded up and Pires was soon caught. Just as we caught him, Fränk moved clear instead. Nobody responded. Perhaps they thought it was too far from the finish.
The breakaway was still far ahead, though. Pluchkin, Cummings and Tjallingii had dropped all their breakaway companions, but Bertolini wasn't far behind.
Van den Broeck realised that it wasn't good that Fränk had got a gap. He attacked to try to bridge the gap to Schleck. Still no respond from Cunego.
However, Cunego's team mate Scarponi putted in a powerful attack. He almost caught Fränk, but had a small gap up to the luxemburger. Van den Broeck wasn't far behind either. All the breakaway riders were caught.
However, nobody was able to stop Fränk from getting his second stage win at this Giro. Scarponi didn't lose much time on him, though. Van den Broeck took third, while Bertolini from the breakaway held on for 4th ahead of a very fast finishing Cunego, who overtook Gerdemann in the last 100m.

Thank you baia, tsmoha and Alakagom!
At least Fränk wasn't completely superior. He is the best climber in this race, so it is not so weird that he is strong in the mountains. Also, the startlist is really weak.
16.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 8
Chianciano Terme > Monte Terminillo: 187.6km
Twelve riders established today's breakaway. Since the best overall placed rider in the break was 19 minutes down on Schleck, no teams minded chasing them down. At the foot of the final climb they held an advantage of 17 minutes and it became clear that today's stage winner would come from the breakaway.
As the breakaway started the climb, Paulinho (Radioshack) set a high pace, dropping all his companions except Miholjevic (Acqua & Sapone), Oyarzun (Movistar) and Possoni (Sky).
As soon as the pack started climbing up towards Terminillo, Scarponi launched a strong attack. Nobody followed and the italian got a 45 second gap. Since he is 5 minutes behind Fränk in the GC we didn't mind putting in any chase.
However, there was other riders that didn't like the fact that Scarponi was riding away. Van den Broeck attacked to chase Scarponi down. Pozzovivo and Scarponi's team mate Cunego followed.
Fränk just accelerated a little bit using the dot and he easily caught up with the attackers. Cunego didn't have the power to follow and fell back to the peloton.
Far ahead, Miholjevic dropped his last breakaway companion, Paulinho, and was riding solo towards the finish.
Paulinho couldn't recover enough to even try to challenge Miholjevic for the stage win and the Croatian takes a nice victory. Paulinho finished just behind him, while Oyarzun took third.
In group Schleck, Van den Broeck tried yet another attack. Pozzovivo immediately followed the Belgian. Did Fränk have enough left to try to bring the two attackers back?
Yes, he had. He just raised the tempo a bit, using the dot. As soon as he reached them, he countered! Only Scarponi could follow, VdB and Pozzovivo had tired themselves out because of all their attacks.

Still a great performance. Looking good so far. Indeed quite weird that Nibali or Basso aren`t participating. |

Thanks roturn and baia. I guess there will be a really strong field in the Tour instead. That will be a challenge for Andy.
17.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 9
Frosinone > Cava de' Tirreni: 188.5km
Five riders broke away early and formed todays breakaway. The riders were: Finetto (Liquigas), Codol (Acqua & Sapone), Corti (Geox), Carlström (Sky) and Erviti (Movistar). Best placed overall was Codol, 26 minutes down, so they got a big advantage to the pack.
Inside the last kilometer, Corti launched his sprint. Finetto and Codol followed, but Carlström and Erviti was too tired. The pack was 15 minutes behind, so they were in no hurry, though.
Corti went a bit too early, which gave Finetto a perfect leadout and the Italian took a nice victory ahead of Corti and Codol.
Bennati lead the pack home ahead of Schleck, who had a (+5) day. Those two, plus Ventoso and Scarponi, were so fast in the sprint that they even got a new time. Cunego's chances of winning this Giro decreased a lot today, as he lost multiple minutes on the pack. The Italian is now 7th overall, 6 minutes behind Schleck.

Nice time gaps to the other favourites but Scarponi.
But you might have won the stage with doing a higher pace. The fate of the leader shirt. |

Just caught up on the entire story. Great read.
Some really impressive results so far and your Giro performance has been practically perfect. Schleck's domination was expected, but Gerdemann, Rohregger, Denifl, and Zaugg all in the top 30 is remarkable.
Disappointing rides from the likes of Bruseghin, Sagan, and Uran, amongst others. |

@roturn/Munique: I don't think he will be able to stay with Scarponi and Van den Broeck in the mountains, but a top 5 looks reachable.
@baia: I know, but the best placed rider overall in the break was 26 minutes down on Schleck, so not very dangerous.
@Tuco: Thanks! Nice to see new readers. I think the weak startlist plays a big factor in Zaugg/Denifl/Rohregger's nice overall places.
18.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 10
Avellino > Bitonto: 219.1km
Zaugg and Denifl was relaying the whole stage, but no other team even tried to help us, so the break held on today too. Staf Scheirlickx won the stage after a strong sprint.
Modolo won a very weird mass sprint ahead of Schleck (?), who once again had a (+5). Bennati lost Viganò's wheel and didn't care of the sprint after that. Unfortunately, Zaugg and Denifl's hard relaying today tired them so much that they lost contact with the pack.

19.05.2011: Giro d'Italia
Stage 11
Cento > Giacomuzzi: 159.5km
Once again, the break made it to the finish. We sent Zaugg there, but he had a disastrous day (-5), so he lost contact on the first climb. Mori (Lampre-ISD) created a gap to his companions on the finishing hill.
The Italian Mori took the win ahead of Ginanni (Androni) and a disappointing Sagan (Liquigas). Zaugg also finished well ahead of the pack, which moved him up to 14th overall.
