Probably you misunderstood me and my example was too weird. What I meant was that we all expect spectacles of them, like you wrote. It`s the same in every sport. We want to see exciting stages, great footballgames, new worldrecords...
But if there is a stage like today with obviously oil on a descent this all should move into background in my opinion. Most important is the safety of all riders. So maybe it`s boring for us, but they have to take care for their career, family...
If the roads are too bad or with oil I understand why they rode like today.
This oil story confirmed yet? Because I didn't hear it.
It's a double standard. OMG, Schleck and Armstrong and Contador are back!
Safety first is also a double standard, like I said, then they should quit doing dangerous descents period. Huge advantage for risktakers, unfair right? For guys who have kids at home... lol. Go look for a different job then.
I don't demand spectacle but I want things to happen as they unfold. This is the equivalent of an unfair offside goal at the WC to me, totally ruins it for me.
Just heard a Cancellara interview that he has a responsibility as the yellow jersey. I hope he never wears it again ever. |

I don`t know if there really was oil on the roads, but a few riders are saying it. (Fuglsang, Evans...)

So, Cancellara wanted to demand that the pack stop and wait for the ones who crashed....
That is, until his team leaders rejoined. F*** everyone else, right?
Jackass.

The arrogance of cancellara is unreal.
It's easy for him to say neutralise the final km's when he's earning ten times more than some of the others.

Did they start riding after the Schlecks got back? No. |

What's with the bashing of Cancellara? It makes no sense.
He continued to keep the pace down even after the Schleck's returned to the group, despite the fact that he had the yellow jersey to fight for.
He said he didn't want a sprint because too many people were still hurt and/or shocked from the huge crash, and everything was still pretty chaotic. |

Taaramäe also managed to lost to the main group 4min. So ..he will be after polka-dot and stage win for now.
Grazy stage..
good they waited..
bad that they did not sprint..
Normal race after 3km sign would have been nice |

So it seems that everyone hates Cancellara because he wanted to slow down the pack, in order to get his leaders back along with other riders.
As far as I know, the other riders have a mind of their own, and doesn't have to follow orders given by Cancellara.
So I have a hard time understanding why Cancellara is suddenly the bad guy here. |

Actually Cancellara is the guy who acted as you'd expect, defeding his team's interests. It's Sastre's (or Gesink's, Menchov's, Hushovd's, etc) attitude what I don't understand. |

Hushovd reacts because of the sprint being cancelled.

secondly, nobody's life was threatened, drama queen. |

I can understand them. They want to win by beating the others in a direct fight and not because the others crashed in stage two and then lost five minutes
