Stage 2
Salou - Perafort
After another TTT disaster..we have to take 1'20 back. I dont expect GC win here..just to open still out form Evans Cya point account. If Evans fails then Jufre will be our leader.
Cheer up moment for Steels..has he hasn't any chanches to make sprint battle today. Steels decided to take a part to early breakaway attempt..and also won first sprint check..after that he returns back to peloton.
Mertens has been today motivated and seems also in good shape..decided to send him ta battle about stage win. 3 riders is clearly separating the rest of the group..Boyques has done lot of work for Florencio..who is leading yhe sprint..Gil and Mertens follows.
They also ended that way. Good news for today was that out of form Evans was feeling very good today on those small hills.

Stage 10
Lido di Camaiore - Santuario della Gardia
That should be fun stage..last 10km. hill. Lot of action there.
Last climb starts and also action. Bettini (I still cant wait a moment when he cracks and falls down at he's to high GC place) is first who atacks..Cunego follows.
Second atack wave...Savoldelli; Cioni; McGee and Di Luca. Cunego sneaking away...Bettini cant follow him anymore.
2km. to go..Cunego leads. Can Di Luca catch him before the line? Third atack wave star Simoni is trying to close he's gap with Di Luca.
Group behind a Simoni...Pena, Kirchen, Savoldelli, Bettini, Mcgee and Cioni who has shown first signs of difficulty to follow.
Cunego wins the stage..and we have again nice GC win situation between Di Luca and Cunego. Simoni also isnt out of the game yet..there is still biggest mountains in Giro a head. Those 3 riders will be probably in podium in Milano also..Cioni knows after today for shure he's "place"... that is suicide to follow those guys.
Pena,Kirchen and Savoldelli has gone for Cioni today. McGee cracked totaly..Bettini have difficulty..Schleck is coming at behind.
Biggest looser for today was Ricco who has lost to Cioni almost 3minutes...and Cioni is inside of top 10. Lets try to keep it this way..It isnt easy task against Ricco, Pena, Nocentini and Caucchioli, there is still two TT to run so dont count Buresghin also out yet.

the problem is with the AI. if it's a hilly stage in a grand tour, all the hilly classics riders attack and gain loads of time. in stages that would see bunch finishes or breakaways make it in reality
anyway, when the real mountains come, he'll plummet. notice how much time he lost in just one little climb at the end of that stage?

Exactly and as there are loads of hilly stages in the Giro, it's suits riders like Cunego and Di Luca perfectly compared to Andy Schleck who can't follow them on those small hills. |

Stage 3
Perafort - Tarrega
Sprinters stage for both tours...in Catalunya and Giro also. Steels must be alergic for hills..if stage got any he is in difficulty.
Intermediate sprint...Florecio wins it and get some extra sprint points to extend he's lead..Freire and Rojas Gil 2nd. and 3rd.
Early breakaway rider Vasseur with Rojas Gil and Freire trying to use advantage what they got after sprint...and they go for solo ride. Peloton in 25sec.behind..nice move but I dont belive this is gonna work after all.
Freire group breakaway atempt didnt worked out..mass sprint.Geslin helps Florencio in perfect sprint position again..when they come out at the last corner green jersey already leads the group. This guy is hard to beat in Catalunya. Thor on his left side (I see him first time in action this year)...seems to me like TdF sprinters are all..slowly getting in top shape..for year main event.
Florencio takes another win..and clear point jersey lead for now, tomorrow he starts with tour leader jersey. Steels is out of the game today..Mertens beat him again.

Stage 4
Tarrega - Vallnord Arinsal
After yesterday a little booring day..we have two important stage in Catalunya to run. At first mountain stage.
All this tour feels like TdF rehersals, there we got lot TdF favorites in the line...Cuesta and Rubiera atack's.
Boygues has been clearly to slow in the mountains..and they cant control the race. Caisse takes it over..much better speed. Race is on.
Contador with Moreau atack's..this is not much just some quick test atack.
Caisse tempo has done lot of damage..tour leader Florencio cant follow the main group anymore.
25km. to go..this is the moment. Serious atack Beltran opens Voecler, Kasechkin, Evans... Sevilla atacks, also Menchov.
After Sevilla long and strong counter atack..he has small advantage over the elite group.
12km. to go..Kasechkin try's it again. Casar has joined the group and they closing gap between Sevilla.
Few other TdF hopes has together in chase group..riders like Leipheimer, Conatdor, Klöden;Moreau...6km. to go..Sevilla cant follow anymore,
What a situation..now one like's to take a relay..They all desire to take a stage win...
once again Kasechkin, Beltran, Evans, Menchov and Casar.
Astana man takes the win and leader jersey..Evans was to tyred to sprint propebly.. But most of all I am happy.. Kasechkin is now main favorite also for overall win..if there hasnt been total disaster TTT..Evans would get also he's chanches.
Evans showing already in may..first signs what he is capable.

Stage 12
Scalenghe - Briancon
This is very important stage..we can find out ..who wants to be top in GC should be in front today. Highest mountain of the Giro to climb today.
Cioni is now in superb form..another timing and training great job.
We had very slow tempo and friendly ride..when Unibet climber Rujano atacks...Gil and Anton trys to follow...they work hard and well together. But they cant get any closer to Rujano..who is flying today.
30km. to go..last climb before downhill section. Savoldelli open's atacks wave..Caucchioli follows. This is serious sign for Cioni..Cauccioli has so far behind him in GC. This is firts serious threat for main goal (end Giro in top 10)..Ricco still waiting.
When Kirchen, Di Luca, Pena, Cunego atacks..decided also Cioni ..that he need to go. Di Luca is way to strong to everyone..I dont belive there is any opponent will be to threat he's overall win. he is so strong.. even Cunego cant follow today. Rujano is still out there.
Situation; Rujano leads he got 2 min advantage when he takes mountain top finish..there is just downhill section left. Great solo ride..Di Luca- he has escaped from all main oponents...is this stage already final for Giro overall win..or he will crack later on.
...group nr. 3..Cauchhioli, Cunego, Savoldelli and Cardenas Ravalo...nr.4 Kirchen, Anton, Gil.
..nr. 5 Oliver, Cioni, Pena and Simoni (who has been biggest dissapointment today..even Cioni has no problem to follow him today..bad day`?).
One of the bigest loosers today..GC nr. 3 man Bettini have difficulty to ride with peloton.
Rujano takes a stage win..and get's a spot inside at top 10. Cioni crosses the line with Simoni ..8th. in GC. Still great.
Looks like few mountain stages more and Di Luca will own all the jersey's

Rujano gets what now?
impossible. I'm going to go shoot myself now.........
EDIT: so many mountain stages and I've never had Rujano finish anywhere close to the favorites. the only possible explanation is that the first half of the race was ridden at very slow speeds AND he had an awesome form of the day...

Rujano was just great..tacticaly also..there wasnt no reason and rush for favorites to chase him fast down. Most impressiv was how he ride away from chasers duo Anton and Gil.
And look GC;

his problem is doing well in long stages, has always been.
on a 13 km mountain TT, I'd expect him to do very well
