Really good story. It is the first time I have read this story. Nice graphics as well. And good that you have kept it going for so long. It brings dynamic to the story it deserves a banana |

@ Miguel: hope to get it finished within 1 week...
@ Ian Butler: I know, but on more win is always nice!
@ fred947a: Thank you! Although I think the graphics aren't that great, since my laptop is pretty mediocre. Hope you didn't have to read all 167 pages

But first changing things in the DB myself, like strange transfers (Andy Schleck and Theo Bos have signed a deal with Euskaltel....) etcetera. So it'll take some time (irl) before 2014 starts.....

Our team
The favourites
*** Marcel Kittel, Tino Thömel (Red Bull), Maurizio Biondo (Pisanellastoria).
** Wesley Sulzberger (Qantas), Tomasz Smolen (PSK), Alexander Kristoff (Joker).
* Jacopo Guarnieri (Pisanellastoria), Michael Friedman (Saxo Bank), Dominik Roels (Tean NetAPP).
The race
The race turns out in the expected mass sprint. We can form a good train, but our low fitness levels mess up our plan. As soon as the final lead out man Matti Breschel starts to sprint, he and Marcel Kittel get passed by, well almost everybody. So a 10th place for Kittel is the result....
The win goes to Maurizio Biondo, giving his team Pisanellastoria another win, and making them a huge candidate for promotion to the World Tour. The 2nd place goes to Jens Erik Madsen (Concordia) and the 3rd to Tino Thömel (Red Bull).

The first of the Italian classics brings us to Tuscany, to the town of Peccioli in the region of Pisa. Last year, Giovanni Visconti took the win here.
The route
Lots of steep climbs, including a short one just before the finish, make the race a paradise for puncheurs.

The favourites
*** Daniele Callegarin (Team Type 1), Thomas De Gendt, Diego Ulissi (Liquigas).
** Matteo Cattaneo (Farnese Vini), Yaroslav Popovych (D'Angelo), Alexandre Vinokourov (Astana).
* Danilo Di Luca (Acqua et Sapone), Alejandro Valverde (Colnago), Domenico Pozzovivo (Colnago).
The race
Well, this for sure has been an entertaining race, with strong breakaway groups all race long. Many of the favourites have tried to attack, and immediately the other teams started to chase them. So Valverde, Popovych, Cattaneo, Vinokourov, Sella and many others ar ehaving dead tired legs when the final of the race begins.
Then, with 25km to go, our young Luxembourg Gregory Bernard attacks, and the riders of the other teams start looking at each other. None of them want to attack, meaning Bernard creates a margin of 2 minutes with just 5km to go! He can easily defend this margin, thus taking his first victory (and fr sure not his last) as a professional cyclist!! 1'18 behind, Leonardo Pinizzotto (Pisanellastoria, them again) takes the 2nd place, beating Daniele Callegarin (Team Type 1) in the uphill sprint. Thomas De Gendt finishes in 6th and Matti Breschel in 10th.

Giro Dell'Emilia
The next of the Italian classics is, not counting Il Lombardia, the hardest of them all. The Giro Dell'Emilia features 5 ascends of the San Luca in Bologna, a 1.9km long climb at an average gradient of 10.1%. And if it wasn't for the less steep part halfway, then it would have been 12-13%! The finish awaits at the summit of the 5th climb.
Last year, the race was won by Colombian Cayetano Sarmiento, beating Cadel Evans, Robert Gesink, Giovanni Visconti and Damiano Cunego. Not a bad performance by him!
The route
192 kilometres with 2 easy climbs, before the riders arrive at the closed circuit near Bologna for 5 laps.

Our team
The favourites
*** Michele Scarponi (Nespresso), Andy Schleck, Alejandro Valverde (Colnago).
** Mikel Nieve (Astana), Yaroslav Popovych (D'Angelo), Simon Spilak (Lampre).
* Gabriele Bosisio (Liquigas), Daniele Callegarin (Team Type 1), Domenico Pozzovivo (Lampre).
Our goal
Considering the fact that Andy Schleck has a fitness of 67, we have no high expectations. A top 5 will be difficult to achieve.
The race
When Pawel Cieslik (Bank BGZ), the last remaining member of the BOTD, gets caught shortly before the first group finishes the 4th ascend of the San Luca, we see that Nespresso missed the split up. With great riders as Cobo and Kessiakoff serving as a domestique for Michele Scarponi, and th erest of the team controlling the race before, this is an enormous misstep by the team.
A group of 11 starts the last lap and arrives at the foot of the final climb together. Among them Andy Schleck and Jelle Vanendert (with the latter one totally exhausted because of helping the first one). Immediately when the climb begins, Yaroslav Popovych attacks. He also caused the split with the Nespresso-riders, with an attack in the 2nd to last lap. Only Domenico Pozzovivo can follow the Ukrainian champion. Andy is climbing in his own pace, passing rider by rider.
But noone is able to stop Popovych, taking his 3rd win within a months time (stage in Settimana Ciclicista Lombarda and Memorial Marco Pantani). Pozzovivo finishes in 2nd place at '15, and Schleck takes a surprising 3rd at '32. Also Vanendert (12th) and Gregory Bernard (19th) finish in the top 20. And Nespresso? Scarponi finishes in 8th place, and I think the team will have an unpleasant dinner tonight....

The winner
Word from the DS
Looking at Andy's fitness level (and fatigue), the 3rd place is very unexpected!

And suddeny, you get motivated again. So I finished playing the GP Beghelli and Milano - Torino, reports will follow later today. Then only Il Lombardia to play, before the season ends. Also made a list of strange transfers (Bos --> Euskaltel, A. Schlek --> Euskaltel, Lofkvist --> Andaluciaand others) so I can change them with the editor.
