seriously, give this guy a medal for trying so hard to be Lantern Rouge.
No, he is trying hard to reach paris, he isn't trying to get last... can't you see?
He IS trying to end last. He said that himself in an interview.
I think he was trying to say that he wants to finish. He doesn't want to be the last in the race. He's just using a (sort of) rhetorical device to say that he wants to finish the race (if that makes any sense). |

Yes, he's trying to actually finish / end the race - but if that can be done while being lanterne rouge, he's extra happy.
Why? As I've said previously, there's money involved. The lanterne rouge is invited to lots of criteriums after the Tour, and you earn a lot of money by that.
Quote:
"When I get to Paris, I hope to be last. As the last man, you get a lot of extra attention, and after the Tour, you're invited to criteriums (...) From a money perspetive, it's great"
Danish newspaper called Politiken, interview with Kenny Van Hummel.

I don't think I agree Guido.
If you are a fan of someone and find they are cheating... it's perfectly reasonable to not be a fan any more.
It's not a marriage. You don't swear some kind of oath saying you'll support your favorite rider through good and bad, doping and clean, etc.
If you like a rider for a reason... and the facts about that rider change... why wouldn't you stop supporting them? |

Guido, you are always annoying me to the point of breaking, but this really does it.
You have, and I'm sorry to tell you this, ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!
You have NO CLUE of how somebody feels, when he has put 2,5 years of energy and a LOT of time, into a website of seomeone. I did a lot of work for Dekker, we all did, his management, I know these people personally, also did tons of work to get him a new job.
Despite all the rumours against him, not only me, but also his family, friends, management did all the trouble of defending Thomas Dekker and standing behind him. We were always assured by Thomas he was riding clean and all of this were false rumours.
It's much more than being a fan, it was much more personal than that because I WORKED with him for 2,5 years. How can you possible know how I or other guys close to him feel after being cheated in such a way.
You have now idea of the dissapointment and the anger, you have no idea of all the time we spent into something that is now destroyed by the same guy we were doing it for.
You really understand nothing, and for that, you are a piss poor person. Attacking me because we changed our views, after a guy who has been lying to us for 2,5 years. A guy who we defended everywhere, we put our reputation and our credibility on the line for that guy. And what do we get in return???
Really Guido, you have NO CLUE!!!! You should not speak of things you know and understand nothing about.
And it's clear you understand nothing of human relations or emotions. Or what it feels like when you are being lied to.
So SHUT UP! You have no right at all.

Sorry Crue, but if Guido puts me down as a some sort of simple fanboy who dropped his favorite rider after he was found doped, he is sadly mistaken. I had to justify this. He has no clue. |

I hope you at least got some money off of Dekker and the work you did for him. You did, right?
Right? |

Knasen did.
I was being serious, he deserves to get on TV after struggling his way through each stage
Yes I did. But if you read what i write. I am very impressed by him. To ride that much by himself shows that he has a good engine. And some more years he will be a groupetto rider. And I think that is little more comfortable. |

Right? No I didn't. We never earned anything with it. TD Magazine was a volunteer project. I was never in for the money from the start.
Can you imagine now? The thing that is stupid is that we haven't heard from Dekker, not did his management, since the day he has been caught.
The money I do earn with websites, is from the other riders, for seg cycling (management of maaskant, langeveld, de maar, duyn, many others amongst previously dekker)

After today's stage I'm clueless. Clueless about the remaining two spots on the podium. I ruled out Armstrong yesterday as he looked very Giro-like, but after today I just cannot feel certain that he'd do something spectacular tomorrow or even on the time trial, or Ventoux, who in bleedin' 'ell knows?
Wiggins looked incredible, perfect again today. In my book he's still the only guy who can win this Tour from Contador. Also I'm not in the slightest convinced that Andy will be able to gain any time on him in the mountains. Surely the Petit-Saint-Bornand was a better climb for Wiggins than Andy, but he just looked so cool, and so unimpressed by who he was sitting next to, gave me the chills to be honest. It's the first time he's in this position and this is not some mountain stage in Vuelta a Burgos, this is the frickin Tour de France, and then he is this calm. Unbelievable. I'm full of admiration.
So my podium prediction is:
1. Contador
2. Absolute no clue whatsoever
3. Look above

I'd love to see Wiggins hang tough until the time trial and then do something nuts to make it close. Just for a little drama at least. |

Lol, van Hummel was at 37 minutes at the final of the last climb, and finished at 34 minutes. That means he descended 3 minutes faster than anyone.
Hushovd the best decender? Cancellara? Nah. It's Van Hummel

When did he decide this?
Before the season
Thanks.
In just about every preview of the TdF I read, he was mentioned as one of the contenders, so I assumed he was riding.
Never believe anything you read in the English language media about cycling.
Kind of surprised he didn't want to ride the Tour in his snazzy Olympic gear. |
