Still mad about this little war thing that they lost I think....I have to many English friends to care...but I sure like stirring up trouble. |

A lot of English people would be quite surprised the War of Independence was against the British. We really don't care

I wasn't trying to open up a war of worlds here. All I'm saying is that even though Lance is not a great person, he has done a lot for the sport. But I'm resting my piece after this. |

What I dislike about the Americans' defence of Armstrong is that they tend to think that we're only after him, because he's American. That's simply not true. Had he been from Netherlands, Spain, Italy or whatever, I'd still dislike him.
About yesterday's protest, whoever was behind it, that guy / those guys are idiots. As already mentioned, the route has been used lots of times before with no complaints. And compared to previous stages with very steep downhill sections with sharp corners on a wet surface, no one complained.
What we got was a disgrace, and I feel sorry for the people of Milano who closed off roads for no reason at all. |

But the members here dislike all the riders who do well.
I think it's some jealousy going around here....

Again, that's not true.
Unlike you, some people are critical, though. Knowing the history of the sport does that to you, and that means that when a guy does good, we, the critical ones, also consider what's behind the fact that the guy is doing good.
An example of someone who's not been criticized despite doing good is Boasson Hagen. Only his fans have been criticized. |

Has this one comes to GB and US battle ..no reason.
Has Mike says..this is not just personal vandetta against Armstrong and America..same go's with Ricco..Valverde..Rasmussen..maybe some other cocky bastard ..Bruyneel...Popovich.. Dekker. This is not about nationality..I realy hope so also keep it this way..
American members ..no need to be paranoid. Most of cycling fans still like Phinney , Farrar, Steven Cozza , Zabriskie and absolutly adore Lemond

But the first thin people do when someone do well they say dope, dope, dope.
It's not a reason to say that they hate Hagen because his fans dont "behave"..

It's not because we said Contador was on dope, that we said everyone who's doing good is doped.
You're making a debate out of nowhere

I don't think it started off as a defense of him as an American, just him as a cyclist....at least that's what Macquet started it out as. But then he was attacked as an American so we started arguing back. In our limited defense, you have to admit that there is some bias against him on this forum (not necessarily you) because he's American. |

I guess what I don't like is when someone does try to defend an American cyclist and that person is American, it's because they are an egotistocal, self-centered, homer, world-hating Americans that assumes everyone hates their cyclist because they are American. Maybe he was just defending Lance as a cyclist. I know most people on the forum don't hate American cyclists just for the heck of it, but please don't think that all American forum members are block headed in their defense of Americans. |

Yup. The problem is that Lance keeps playing the american media and fans by saying that europeans hate all americans. it's classic, it always works. But it's very far from being true.
LeMond for instance is idolized by everyone.
Because he's a great guy, he's honest, he's respectful, he's insightful, he's nice to everyone, and he genuinely and honestly cares for the sport and its future.
In all those things he is the diammetral opposite of Armstrong.

That's the thing, you don't think Lance is polarizing in America (at least out of people that follow more than the Tour)? Of course he is, so the whole "Europe hates us" card Lance plays doesn't work on me. I'm not even a Lance fan. My whole argument is that people in this forum should be able to defend Lance without being accused of American bigotry. |
