92. edition
Stage 9
Milano Show 100
Beatiful city stage..total flat..first time in 2009 Giro. Sharp corners ..we all know ..this is problem when 190 raiders same time taking them in with fast speed..
Leaders should be careful..
Arvesen breakaway..impossible one..peloton moving realy fast today..
..and first man who should abandon the race is Liquigas raider Vandborg..great team TT help and real good flat stages team mate...he crashed hard and cant continue any more. He was great and a little surprise choise for tour..great job and sad to loose him..
..hugh crash..many favorites involved..Basso survived..uhh..
Di Luca had crashed..he looks angry..killer look..
Karpets and Bruseghin..two big guys..Karpets is ok to carry on..but this is it for Bruseghin..big hit to Lampre. He was GC top 10 candidate and most helpful helper for Cunego..Sanchez is down..Soler..they can carry on..
..at the front..sprint..Wegman, Boom, Freire, Ciolek, Boonen, Bennati, Petacchi..
Boonen go's ..Bennati is boxed..trying to get out..boxed..damn!
Boonen takes second stage win..now situation is 2-2 with Bennati..Valverde leading in points classification..but have small pure sprinters competition on the same table..and Bennati is still leading it..
All the raiders who crashed..will loose almost 4min. in GC..like Di Luca, Soler, Sanchez, Karpets..
Not a good stage for Liquigas and for tour..crash has messed up GC table. I am not happy to get Nibali and Pellizotti few places hire in GC..this way..

Stage 10
Cuneo - Pinerolo
...great stage. I wont take any risk..just defending leader jersey is enough..(we getting closer and closer to 54km. hilly TT..wich will be probably GC mix up stage).
Best team mate for a day..Zaugg he has been almost all day at the front at the main group..pulling stabile..same fast enough tempo...to control the race.
Almost on every mountain top Di Luca trying to atack ..and always Simoni with Moncoutie always follows. Di Luca likes to have now climber jersey or he is desperate after that crash.
First man who go's...Caisse and Sanchez..
..Siutsou..Jufre and Egoi Martinez chasing..who will get climber jersey battle..
..now it's real..last climb..Simoni..Schleck..Basso atacking away..they pass breakaway raider Siotsou. Astana controlling the pack..
Trio is getting away..and there was last man out front Sanchez..open road a head..
Cunego is coming..
..and after him..all "friends"..Karpets, Valverde, Menchov, Contador...
Contador launching another short atack..Basso follows..
Long descent..has started..now one dont like work at the front..this is ok for Basso ..he can wait..
...and here comes main group (or what is left)..Nibali, Pellizotti and Noe ..who having just a great day..
..and then ..BANG!..Liquigas decided to give green light for great downhill rider Nibali..
..this can work out..Astana leading the chase...
..great stage win..and this would look nice on he's CV..winning such hard climber stage..

The time gaps thing is so messed up. Nibali should have got 20-30s looking at the picture.

don't forget they were going downhill so the group behind would have been traveling very fast. still should have got some time gap though. |

Stage 3
Perafort - Tarrega
Sprinters stage in Catalunya..Corioni is Liquigas hope..
..veteran Dessel crashes in early phase of the race..he is ok..to carry on
...and sprint..Oleg Chuzhda leading the group..de jeux duo Roy and Cherel waiting..and main favorite Thor Hushovd
..out at the last corner Hushovd takes a lead...
..and stage win with "mile"..total sprint domination. Corioni 4th...well done.
Tomorrow ..most important climber stage and day after that mountain TT..
I'd like to see Kreuziger much higher in the GC after two days..ofcorse he isnt in the top condition at the moment and I dont expect podium place..but at the moment 138th. is not just enough.

Yeah you start to think how you're gonna perform tactically in the rest of the stages to hold your jersey!
Anyway you've already shown that you're a very good player so I believe you wont have much difficulty achieving a top place. Anyway good luck with it

Bennati is the new king of sprinters!
Good luck with Basso in the GC. Not that you'll need it, it's the others who will need enormous amounts of luck if they want to beat you. |

Stage 4
Tarrega - Vallnord Arinsal.
Queen stage...Liquigas doesnt have much ambiton plan for a day..just need to get Kreuziger higher in the GC. (still that TTT "dept"
Split..there is sprinters group who had to give up..Corioni, Hushovd..and intresting to see Caucchioli in it...why he should slow down that soon?
Mazzanti was in breakaway..now on solo ride at the front..
..and favorites satrt to atack..Barredo, Cobo, Evans..Astraloza
in descent..lead group is formed ( for a moment)..Kreuziger is in..Zubeldia, Gerdeman
Another atack..Evans, Zubeldia, Astraloza
..and we have lead group nr .2..Zubeldia, Evans , Aztraloza, Cobo, Barredo and Schleck..
Gerdemann counter...
Gerdemann getting away...hugh group follows him..Kreuziger is in again...
...and main group comes back together..Kreuziger had atacked two times to get into first group..dont know has he something left? Gerdemann is still out there..
..and here it is..super strong ride..
Zubeldia, Aztraloza and Redondo..going after Gerdemann
Igor Anton..who has been hiding all day..finaly atack's Andy is going after him..they are start to close that gap between Gedemann..
..this is it for Kreuziger..he has used all he's got..now just suffering
...sprint..great timing for Anton..he passes Gerdemann in the last corner
..and he takes stage win..

Stage 12
ITT Sestri Levante - Riomaggiore
This is gonna be new experience..hilly TT. Pure TT classic raider will suffer today..
Hoste is first who can ride real fast ..he passes De Jongh and takes the lead..at the end of the day +54 (+7'19.. )
..I had to take this shot..his might be only opportunity to see Bennati with points jersey..Bennati . (+5'31)..this is great place to be..
Pozzato will get every check point best time on his name...at the end of the day 15. (+3'27)
Pate 39 (+6'19)
Scarponi 16. (+3'49)
Larsson 11. (+2'57)
Nibali 20. (+4'41)
..and here he comes..belive or not ..Di Luca is best man today...and is back into GC top 7 after that crashed stage..
Sanchez 13. (+3'14)
Zabriskie 12. (+3'03)
Pellizotti 27. (+5'20)..this tour dont have nothing to remember about for Pellizotti..10 stages to go..
Karpets 10. (+2'30)
Popo 14. (+3'21)
Pereiro 8th. (+2'12)
Gibo..19. (+4'12)..not good for GC
Before the start Basso afraid a most this guy..Contador 4th. (+43 sec.)
Menchov 5th. (+45 sec.)
Cunego 2nd. (+9 sec.)
Fränk Schleck 7th. (+1'19)
Valverde 3rd. (+30 sec.)
Basso 6th. (+59 sec.)..
Huhh..this was real hard and nervous one..at the middle of the stage Basso heard rivals times wich was 3.30 faster then he's. At the end 1min. Basso had great ride..but some how other italians was so much faster
Standing in the GC is realy intresting now..3 riders inside 20 sec...and other 3 in striking distance
And has I expected..Valverde taking point jersey back from Bennati
