Stage 6

ITT through Passo di Foppa

The first 3 riders to set off were ours: Roca, Faria e Quiñonero. Yhey all reported a tough course
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse61.png

Cavendish, Wiggins among opthers were the first to dominate the first standings. Naturally the first reasonable climber in this case Tiralongo took the 1st place for over 2min
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse62.png

After him Cabreira got 2nd place. Poor effort though...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse63.png

Meanwhile Piepoli recorded the best time!!

Later Leipheimer got the best time in the intermediate point!! Piepoli was 7'' away 7''
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse65.png

Kloden the next one to pass there only got the 9th time... bad news...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse66.png

At the finish line a nice surprise! Efimkin took the 2nd best time!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse67.png

Which was later beaten by Menchov.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse68.png

And even later by Leipheimer! However Piepoli's time was still the one to beat!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse69.png

Kloden wasn't able to do best than a 12th place. Let's hope the last flat TT brings us some benefit...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse610.png

When Devolder apeeared in the last km he was closely followed by Schleck! The luxembourguese didn't win but managed to defend successfully his yellow jersey!

Stage 7
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse70.png

The climb to Lago di Naret was the only point of interest in the stage so:

>> *Fast Forward*

Schleck leaves the pack early in the climb!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse71.png

Menchov is off too! Kloden realises he has to get going as well!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse72.png

Zubeldia and Devolder attack to join the others...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse73.png

Meanwhile at the front there is a duo formed by the Rabobank and the CSC riders! Kloden is chasing them closely.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse74.png

The lack of coordination makes it possible for Kloden and Devolder to catch them!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse75.png

And later by all the elite of climbers present here in Switzerland!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse76.png

Some kms after the first disapointements... Kloden, Evans and Zubeldia can't keep the pace up front!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse77.png

Valverde who hadn't moved yet reaches Kloden's group!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse78.png

And at the head of the race there was Schleck once more alone!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse79.png

He is still followed by Leipheimer, Mechov and Valverde who is recovering pretty well!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse710.png

After them Evans and Kloden work to minimize the gaps.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse711.png

However this one wouldnt escape from Schleck! One more victory for the CSC rider!!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse712.png

In the chasing group Menchov takes 2nd ahead of Leipheimer! Valverde surprisingly is left behind in the last few meters!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse713.png

Kloden finishes 6th... There's still some training to do before the Tour...

Stage 8
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse80.png

Unorthodox stage... the breakaway was given to much freedom and the gap happened to grow more than expected

At the bottom of Saas-Fee Pacheco and Contoli constituted the front duo!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse81.png

Followed by a group containing Loosli, Hansen, Van Avermaet and Facci...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse82.png

...and even by some riders than weren't able to keep with the pace of the front.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse83.png

In the back there was the peloton with... 12mins of delay!!!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse84.png

This time Schleck wasn´t the first to call the shots. Gusev was the pretender!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse85.png

Later Devolder, Efimkin and Jimenez launched themselves in the front as well.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse86.png

But the race only began when Valverde got away!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse87.png

Quickly the favourites started to counter over and over again to reach the spaniard! Menchov and Schleck were the first ones...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse88.png

...Kloden some time after them in an effort to get a good result here in Switzerland!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse89.png

When the yellow jersey group started to break, Leipheimer emerged from the back!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse810.png

However, Valverde was still the leading rider!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse811.png

In the meantime Kloden got caught by the pack...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse812.png

Away from all this discussion were the escapees! In the moment of the thruth Pacheco beated Contoli to get an unexpected victory!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse813.png

While in the back Evans finally decided to do something and tried to reach the others.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse814.png

But he wouldn't do much more than trying because the leading trio was already finishing! The Tour of Switzerland was almost completely decided!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse815.png

...Leipheimer was the next one to arrive...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse816.png

...Then Evans with some other underdogs...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse817.png

And only after them Kloden and the peloton... it'sa shame...a good stage could have given us a chance at the top5...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/tsuisse818.png

Crisis hits Scott - American Beef!!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/jjcobo.png

Yesterday Scott - American Beef who's in Austria at the moment, in the city of Fuckville, preparing the Tour, conceded some freedom to the press in order to let them have some contact with the riders.

The highlight of the day was the interview with the team leader Juan José Cobo! When asked about the harmony whithin the team he represents, the spaniard answered that he eally enjoys being with everyone but he just can't stand wearing a sort of golden jersey. Quoting Cobo, the jersey is responsible for a chronic goldenofobia which ridiculously leads him to wear black socks!!

At the moment of that revelation, Mr. Scott and Dr. American Beef were present, and became imediately astonished with the spanish they thought to be a good person!. In their opinion not only that color is very pretty but it alson is better than Meitan's pink!! After these happenings both directors turned their back on JJ Cobo and told him: "We will never be your friend again" like two heart-beaten kids.

The board of the team then released a message saying the team would still take part in the Tour but the riders would have to agree with Cobo's abscense. They all hapened to agree in deed. But Cobo then appeared ordering to shut up as the picture shows!

Since there, nothing more as come up. Further revelations are expected before the Tour de France sets off.

i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt0.png

A struggle between Tiago Machado and Sérgio Paulinho was expected!

Unfortunately for us Tiago was one of the first to leave...
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt1.png

In the first checkpoint he had a serious delay to someone who wasn't even a candidate!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt2.png

Meanwhile Paulinho was getting ready to set off!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt3.png

i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt4.png

A final effort...
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt5.png

and a 1st place!! provisional nevertheless....
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt6.png

Some minutes later, José Martins took it... another TT championship lost...
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt7.png

Hélder Miranda registered even better than his colleague...
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt8.png

In the meantime José Azevedo was doing good making 2nd in the first checkpoint!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt9.png

And a while later Paulinho overdid everyone there... Another Astana rider stealing a TT national championship from us it seemed...

At the finish Azevedo was 2nd!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/poritt11.png

Hesjedal, the champion in title was the man to beat

Our rider set off knowing he was the one with a real shot at defeating Hesjedal!

1st checkpoint and only one second separating the two of them1
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/canitt2.png

2th checkpoint and no doubts left! Hesjedal will be the Canadian ITT Champion he got a minute of advantage!!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/canitt3.png

Meier arrives and aknowledges that being the best of the contenders wasn't enough to take the spot...
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/canitt4.png

At Hesjedal arrival there is nobody able to argue about his capacity! 1'26 was more than enough to show it to everyone!

i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc62/jolly_anutnes/LV-Flags/GER.png German ITT Championship

i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt0.png

Kloden was the main favourite today!

However, both Columbia and Gerolsteiner had men capable of winning it: Voigt, Grabsch, Gerdemann, Lang and Fothen!!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt1.png

Kloden was the last of them to set off so we could manage his effort considering those marks!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt2.png

In the 1st checkpoint Andreaswas already in front of Tony Martin and Sebastian Lang por by a good lead!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt3.png

But in the 2nd the advantage decreased... bad news?
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt4.png

Finally in the last few kms he passed the last 2 men who set off before him!
i584.photobucket.com/albums/ss286/Gustavovski/geritt5.png

And at the finish line the message we all wanted to hear! Kloden beats everyone to become German ITT champion by the 2nd year in a row!!!

the thing is they both have their fatigue maxed..

Di Luca would be a major help undoubtfully as well as Stuey...

Anyway until the start of the Tour nothing is definitive!

i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por0.png

Cabreira, Pires & Machado tthey all had a chance!

The team tactic was to place 2 riders in the breakaway!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por1.png

Goal achieved by T.Machado and A.Azevedo! The 1st one kept away from the front as the 2nd worked to regroup the many break attempts.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por2.png

But A.Azevedo didn't last forever and so Machado had to escape with Pinho and Sampaio!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por3.png

At the back total anarchy created by the crosswinds
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por4.png

Meanwhile Machado was able to breakaway once more!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por5.png

However A.Cardoso was recovering and managed to enter A.Azevedo's group!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por6.png

And in the downhill he launched himself for our man.
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por7.png

First he passed Sampaio and Pinho..
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por8.png

At the last circuit entrance the Toyota rider was able to take a glance at Machado!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por9.png

A final climb...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por10.png

and the pursuit was over. Now it was a front duo fighting to keep the wide gap
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por11.png

10km to the finish. Now it was certain - the victory was to be decided by the two young lusitanians!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por12.png

Cardoso launched the sprint...
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por13.png

...but Machado wisely took the inner trajectory!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por14.png

1km to the summit and the lead was taken..
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por15.png

And the portuguese scepter remains within the team! Tiago Machado is now the proud wearer of the lusitanian colors!
i439.photobucket.com/albums/qq112/Gustavovskiy/por16.png

André Cardoso did an amazing recovery but he just couldn't be better than Machado in the end... More chances will come in the future for him.
